The day before yesterday we had ‘Hot Violins’, today another
of them Classic Years in Digital Stereo cd’s the BBC launched
during the eighties. Its title says it all, Silly Songs. Going into
a hard lockdown today we can certainly use a little sillyness.
When you’re working at home or just being bored, listen to
these songs and cheer up a bit, enjoy doing so ..
Eergisteren hadden we ‘Hot Violins’, vandaag nog zo’n uitgave
in de Classic Years in Digital Stereo serie die de BBC in de jaren
tachtig uitbracht. Z’n titel zegt alles, Silly Songs. Vanaf vandaag
geldt er in ons land een harde lockdown dus we kunnen wel
wat grappenmakerij gebruiken. Of je nu thuis werkt of je
gewoon wat verveelt, luister naar deze nummers en

Great recording from the time before their huge breakthrough

Over the years we had a lot of records concerning Zaïko
Langa-Langa, off-springs and albums with singers or musicians
that worked with them. This one from 1984 has been waiting
for a long time. The backsleeve is quite damaged and its
overall quality could have been better. The music however
is very much worth listening to. With singers Bimi Ombale,
J.P. Buse, Mondiale & Adios Alemba. Musicians are Popolipo,
Ivon, Oncle Dupuis, Meridjo, Ditutala & Nzenze. Enjoy ..
Door de jaren hadden we al aardig wat platen met, of gerelateerd
aan, Zaïko Langa-Langa, off-springs en platen van zangers of
mu- zikanten die met hen werkten. Deze is uit 1984 en heeft lang
gewacht. De hoes is achterop flink beschadigd en de hele kwaliteit
van het album had beter gekund. De muziek is daarentegen zeer
de moeite van het beluisteren waard. met zangers Bimi Ombale,
J.P. Buse, Mondiale & Adios Alemba. Muzikanten zijn Popolipo,
Ivon, Oncle Dupuis, Meridjo, Ditutala & Nzenze. luister ..

for information about this group. The only one you find on Ecrater
is the one I have here. from 1991 and led by Regge Fancy we have
the Odani Dance Band. The actual vinyl is in good condition and
plays exactly as it was meant to be. Enjoy listening ..

Good morning, yesterday I was clearly not very much awake
yet. The album we had with Los Matamoros was absolutely
by Miguel Matamoros and Trio Matamoros. Our friend Ian
already suggested it and he’s right. Stupid enough I had posted
this record two years ago which contains exactly the same songs.
I clearly didn’t do my homework properly. One way or the other,
Trio Matamoros was indeed one of the most popular in their era
and made many wonderful songs. Ciro Rodriguez, Rafael Cueto
and Miguel Matamoros had been inseperable for over thirty-five
years. They were the pride of Cuba. Today therefore another
elpee with their sweet music, enjoy listening ..
Goede morgen, ik was gisteren duidelijk nog niet helemaal wak-
ker. De plaat die ik postte met Los Matamoros was absoluut met
miguel Matamoros en zijn Trio. Onze vriend Ian suggereerde dit
al en hij heeft gelijk. Stom genoeg heb ik twee jaar geleden zelf
deze elpee al gepost die dezelfde nummers bevat. Doe toch je
huiswerk wat beter Moos, ehem .. Hoe dan ook, Trio Matamoros
was in de jaren de trots van Cuba en maakte vele mooie nummers.
Vandaag daarom nog zo’n fijn album. Ciro Rodriguez, Rafael Cueto
en Miguel Matamoros waren meer dan 35 jaar onafscheidelijk.

Found this record between my Cuban releases. At first I thought
it was an album with Miguel Matamoros. When checking Discogs
it became more confusing than it already was. The sleeve gives no
information and Discogs has a copy on the Colombian Fabuloso label.
My copy is on Metrópoli on which I can’t seem to find anything. The
music sounds very much from Cuba and personally I think the cover
also looks Cuban. We have no year of release and no info, what do
you think we have here ?
P.S. Studying the label, Metrópoli
also seems to be Colombian ..
Deze plaat stond tussen m’n Cubaanse uitgaven. Eerst dacht ik dat
we er een met Miguel Matamoros hadden. Toen ik Discogs raad-
pleegde werd de verwarring eerder groter dan kleiner. De hoes
geeft geen enkele info en Discogs heeft een een versie op het
Colombiaanse Fabuloso label. De mijne is op Metrópoli waarover
online niets te vinden is. De muziek klinkt mij Cubaans en ook de
hoes lijkt mij Cubaans. We vinden geen jaar van uitgifte en geen
informatie, wat denk jij dat we hier hebben ?
P.S. Het label bestuderend blijkt
Metrópoli ook Colombiaans te zijn.

musicians we’ve seen on earlier occasions. Master
Mwana Congo was present but also Loubassou Denis
La Cloche, Passi-Jo and Le Grand Tchico among others.

and his Super Sound of Nigeria. Een highlife registratie waarover
behalve de Discogs notering niet veel te vinden is. Nogal toegan-
kelijk album, lekker mellow en luistert prettig weg ..

Good morning groovers, let’s dive a bit deeper in the history
of Haïtian compas. Many of you have enjoyed the various posts
we had so far and many records are waiting to yet come your way.
What do we have today ?
It is said that compas was invented by Nemours Jn.Baptiste.
He was a Haïtian Saxophonist, writer and band leader. The music
he made was also called Compas Direct. During Baptiste’s early
career he played in ‘Conjunto International’ with collegue Webert Sicot.
For some time later the two had a kind of rivalry over who
came first with certain styles. Funny detail; the competition
between them resulted in a soccer match between the artists
and their bands which ended in a 1-1 tie. Today we’ve got the
album Ti Carole from 1966. Extra nice are the songs
that include the use of accordeon, enjoy listening ..
Goeiemorgen groevers, Laten we vandaag nog ‘ns wat dieper
duiken in de Haïtiaanse compas. Vele van jullie genieten van
de platen die we tot dusver hebben gezien en veel albums
wachten nog om hun weg naar je te vinden.
Wat hebben we hier ?
Er wordt gezegd dat compas ooit werd uitgevonden door
Nemours Jn.Baptiste. Hij was een Haïtiaans saxofonist, schrij-
ver en band leider. De muziek die hij bracht werd ook Compas
Direct genoemd. Tijdens de vroege jaren van zijn carrière speelde
Nemours in ‘Conjunto International’ met collega Webert Sicot. De
twee werden later een soort rivalen die twistten over wie nu het
eerst met bepaalde stijlen was gekomen. Grappig detail; zij
knokten het op een dag uit door met hun beider bands een
potje voetbal te spelen, deze eindigde in een 1-1 gelijkspel.
Vandaag hebben we het album ‘Ti Carole’ uit 1966, extra
fijn zijn de nummers waarin de accordeon wordt gebruikt,
luister weer met plezier ..

vallenato kampioenen te brengen. Julio de la Ossa is éen
van die pioniers die in mijn ogen deze stijl groot maken.
Wederom een van zijn platen uit 1975, het jaar waarin
hij winnaar werd van het prestieuze Festival de la Leyenda
Vallenata. Luister met plezier ..
As always it is a pleasure bringing the music of Colombia’s
vallenato champions. Julio de la Ossa is one of the pioneers
that made this style of music great to my opinion. Once
again an album from 1975, the year in which Julio became
champion of the prestigious Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata.
