Kyeremateng Atwede & the Kyeremateng
Stars, Wuo See Fie, Ambassador 1981
If it comes to Ghanaian highlife, the GG has brought quite
some over the years. I am certainly no expert on the matter
but I can tell you this. Kyeremateng Atwede is the singer
that made the biggest impression on me. ( in fact it is Baffour
Kyei ) I just love the colour of his clear voice, it has
this nasal touch not many have. Check out this record.
I don’t know What the songs deal about, cover with skull ?
If you could tell us, that’d be nice. Quite sure it used to
be here already but can’t seem to find it anymore.
tracks;
01 – Eno benewa
02 – Wo ye kwa
03 – Every work na work
04 – Okwantuni
05 – Yellow woman
I replaced the old link for a new one.
Much better sound quality, go switch’m now.

Bezerra da Silva – O Melhor dos Partideiros
RCA Camden 1982
Good evening, Bezerra da Silva is back. He had some hot
samba albums here before and this one offers more of
that stuff. His samba belongs to the very best to my
opinion. This 1982 record contains some very funny
tracks. We finally find ‘Viúva de Seis’ for instance,
a song I used to play a lot and you may have found
it on a collector already. If you are into samba, do
not hesitate and get it straight away, enjoy..

Coumbite Créole
Rodrigue et Toto
Nécessité, Haiti Records 1974
Coumbite Créole was Rodrigue Millien’s group. On this
album he is joined by his buddy Jules Similien or Toto.
It seems the latter got his name through the title-song
of this here lp if I’m not mistaking. Very laidback and
easy going record from 1974. It builds up to a little up-
tempo towards the end. Listen and enjoy Coumbite
Créole, Rodrigue et Toto in ‘Nécessité’ ..
tracks;
01 – Nécessité
02 – Fête ménage mrin
03 – Dassoman
04 – Zoclo

International – Srekye Duku,
Bertson Records 1982
Good morning groovers, sometimes we get lucky just
going through the records stored. Today I discovered
this here album, one that got forgotten in an earlier
stage. It was put aside to record later and today it
finally finds its way to you. I’m quite sure you’re
gonna like it, A.B. Crentsil and his Super Sweet
Talks International recorded this lp in Nigeria.
It is from 1982 and sounds just great. Get it
now and give it a couple of spins, enjoy..

02 – Yaaba
03 – Mereye ahwe ase anaa ?
04 – Satan go

Leo Fuld – Mazzel
Artone 1966
Friends introduced me to this guy. The album is named
‘mazzel’, and mazzel is something he certainly had. Leo
Fuld was a jewish folksinger who was born in Rotterdam.
Now he had the mazzel ( luck ) to realise it was best
leaving Holland and move to the USA in 1939. As we
all know he probably saved his life doing so, a little
later Rotterdam was bombed and many died in the
second world war that began in the next year.
Something quite different then you are used
to find here, a little change can’t hurt though.
Wonderful atmosphere, slightly gypsy,
warmest voice, lots of emotion..
tracks;
01 – Yaas
02 – Momele
03 – Moshiagh
04 – In der finster
05 – My yiddishe mama

City Boys International Band of Ghana
Ankwanobi, BJI Records 1982
It’s no news, Ghanaian records are hard to find in mint
condition. The first side of this album sounds pretty ok
the second side begins with a lot of noise. Unfortunately
it doesn’t get much better along the way. Let’s see what
we have here. City Boys International Band of Ghana led
by Obuoba J.A. Adofo found a load of happy listeners
already. Part from the soundquality the album is very
good, especially side one stands out to my humble
opinion. Side two is quite damaged but I recorded
it anyway for you to know what we’re missing.
I am so sorry side two sounds really terrible !
P.S.
We had an “Ankwanobi” of their hand already,
same pistol-shaped guitar on the front. The one
we have today is different however, other version
of the title-song and other accompanying tracks as
well. Today’s version is slightly better I think.
tracks;
01 – Ankwanobi
02 – Monsu name
03 – I have no father ( damaged )
04 – Dabia menko mewuo ( damaged )
Miguel Duran y su Conjunto – Vol. XIV
Victoria LPV-15250, 1979
If you are as crazy about vallenato as I am, you will
surely appreciate another Miguel Duran album. His work
never disappoints, strong rhythms and Miguel Duran’s
wonderfull voice taking turns with his great
squeezebox skills, jumpy bass, just the
way we like it most. Get it
now & enjoy listening..

Tuco et les Frères Déjean – “Tonton Relax”
Macaya 1981
Hello, what do you think about compas ? Isn’t it
just marvelous music ? Discovering more and more about
it. Some years ago I met with Rémi Joigneau from France,
he is one of the guys who put together the album; ‘Haïti
Goes Latin’. I added a small pic of the lp. The last track of
the record posted today is on it for instance, they used
vinyl copies like this one to make the album. Thanks
a lot for helping us out with all these killer compas
records Rémi, the world is enjoying them now
and in the future.
Let’s see, we’ve got us another classic album
by Tuco et les frères Dejean. It is the second

Kumapim Royals Band – Ewiase
Brobisco House of Music 1982
Good morning folks, today it is high time for highlife.
I really wanted to be posting more music from Ghana
if only the quality of the records was a little better.
The cleanest of my albums have already been brought
so now is the turn to some lesser looking or sounding
ones. Let’s see, the lp we’ve got here has a damaged
sleeve but the sound is reasonably fair, some scratches
are inevitable. Kumapim Royals Band makes up for
that shortage in a fine way fortunately. Their music
is lovely and I’m sure you’ll like..
So far we had 4 of their lp’s,
use our search-bar
to find them.
tracks;
01 – Obiara mfa nadwene mmra
– Ewiase pt. 1
– Ewiase pt. 2
– Ewiase pt. 3

african 360.163, 1986
This album contains 10 songs with African Fiesta from
1962 and 1963. The internet states the group only started
in 1963. We find songs by Depuissant, Dechaud, Izedi, Mujos
and Rochereau. No Dr. Nico songs although he should be the
one on lead guitar. One way or the other, another missing
link in the ‘african 360.000’ series, it’s number 163.
Enjoy listening..

Toto Nécessité – “Azoumounou”

We had a couple of his albums in the recent past, now

play here, it was Serge Bontant on guitar who
especially caught my attention though..
