A good way to start the weekend. This is Bush, Francisco
Buckley is his real name and he was born in Panama 1940.
Love for music is a thing that runned in the family, he had
several uncles playing saxophone and piano, his mother
used to dance. When he grew up starting a group of his
own seemed a logical step. The album we’ve got today
was released on the Colombian Discos Fuentes in 1977.

I received requests for more cumbias with acordeon, let’s see..
In 1995 Discos Fuentes took a dive in their vaults and came out
with this collection of cumbias. They did a good job polishing
the sound of the old songs, they are as good as new again and
sound as if they were recorded only yesterday. 16 very strong
numbers of which I’m sure you’re gonna play them very much.

I’ve lost count over the years but Nico Mbarga appeared
over twelve times at least here at the GG. This 1983 album
was still missing and I’m sure some others are. One way or
the other, musically this is one of his better releases I think.
Always on the moral side this album’s theme is decency.
Track number four introduces guest singers Louisiana
Tilda and Kaya Tchiko, do you think this is Tchico
Tchicaya ? The song makes me think of ‘Jeannot’
by Lolo Lolitta & Tchico from the lp ‘Le retour
des évadés de Ponton la Belle’. He worked
in Nigeria for several years. Anyway,
jivin’ hot Nigerian highlife..

Merveilles du Passé Congolese lp, 12 very relaxed
songs you will surely like. Names we find at the

vallenato hits. It contains songs by some of the wickedest
artists in the field, Angel Vasquez caught me when first
heard and now I’m blown away by the works of Mingo
Padilla, Rafael Cabeza and José de los Reyes Campo.
If you believe me, this stuff will grow on you when
played more often, that is a promise..

Groove is some kind of jukebox. Sending me personal mail
telling me to post a wishlist of 10 albums in the next few

On monday july 13 I posted ‘Sabor Costeño’, an album with
five artists of which we find back three today. This is an lp
with 6 artists on the same label and from one year earlier.
Heliodoro martinez is the guy that hit me the most with
his great voice. The others however do not disappoint
as well. Going to Colombia for some crate digging is
something I’ve got on top of my wishlist..
