King Sunny Ade & his African Beats
Juju Music of the 80’s
Sunny Alade Records 1981
From Nigeria here’s another fine piece of Juju, ‘King Sunny Ade’
is back with a smile. How do you like his new dresses ?
On the previous Sunny Ade rip I made the mistake to add skips
manually, I did not make that mistake again.
The first side of the album aswell as the second are like
one big track, I thaught I’d better leave it that way.

Sergio Mendes Trio – So Nice, Pickwick/33 1972
Summer is really pulling through in the Netherlands.
With temperatures around 30 degrees, we try to do everything a bit
slower then normal. And what type of music has that mellow tropical
slowness ? Ofcourse, Bossa Nova, Brazilians know to ajust their pace
like no other. Sergio Mendes comes in with a smooth Bossa LP.
With the participation of Bud Shank, Sebastiao Neto, Chico Batera,
Rosinha de Valença on guitar and with the sweet voice of Wanda de Sah
this is a great spin.

Los Millonarios – 19 Exitos Bailables ! ,vol. 4, Discos Fuentes
Here’s a post, especially interesting for it’s collector’s value, more then
for it’s musical value. ‘Los Millonarios’ played instrumental versions of
well known songs. For instance, ‘No me busques’ of ‘Los Corraleros
de Majagual’, or ‘El carretera’ of ‘Guillermo Portabales’. It gives an
impression of all the styles played in Colombian music. And as always,
‘Discos Fuentes’ brings a cover with a pretty girl. Check back cover
for style info. Attention : Track no. 1 jumps one time !

Pacheco y Monguito -Sabrosura, Fania 1980
I always had a certain weakness for the unique sound of Monguito’s
voice. When I was ripping This LP it made me remember some of
the old days, what a fine days they were. The great cover artwork is
by ‘José Exposito’. Listen to this Fantastic album! That’s an order.

Various Artists – Calypsos Too Hot to Handle
Monogram Records 1958
PAY ATTENTION
Before you start downloading this rare Calypso Collector, please
take notice of the fact that track # 8, ‘Don’t touch me nylon’, is
unfortunately broken. It jumps a few times. I had to trick track #
10 too, it was too broken to place. This is a rare collector of old
calypsos, no year is given. An LP full of ‘naughty songs’, you don’t
need too much imagination to hear between the lines. Taken the
condition and some cracks and hiss, this is still a spin worth it’s
while, and how about that great cover ?

Araci de Almeida – Noel Rosa na voz de
Araci de Almeida, Continental 1968
It was a lovely day in February last year, when I was on my Rio record
hunt. I discovered a little hidden recordstore in ‘Rua 7 de setembro’
downtown Rio, and then it happened. I could hardly believe my
eyes when I found this rare LP. I think I payed something like 15
Reais, my day was made ! Listen carefully to this fantastic piece of
Samba History, all songs written by Noel Rosa and sung by Aracy
de Almeida. I always wondered how it is that one time they say
‘Araci’ and the other ‘Aracy’, one way or another, I love it.
