de broers Pierre en Michel Moutouari en met Pierre’s dochter
Michaelle. Waarschijnlijk wat late jaren tachtig met meer keys
dan snaren. Zodoende een stuk jonger klinkend dan de plaat
met Michel van gisteren. Voor de liefhebbers van soukous ..

Not entirely clear from what year this record is. A collaboration
between the brothers Michel and Pierre Moutouari and with
Pierre’s daughter Michaelle. Probably late eighties with more
keys than strings. Therefore much younger sounding then the
one with Michel we had yesterday. For soukous lovers ..

Ik heb in het verleden diverse platen gepost met Kosmos
Moutouari en Pierre Moutouari. Vandaag hebben we dit
mooie album met broer Michel. Ik zal de broers Moutouari
deze dagen eens wat aandacht geven. De muziek verdient
het weer eens gedraaid te worden. Van deze plaat is niet
bekend uit welk jaar hij stamt maar dat mag de pret niet
drukken. Wederom zo’n pareltje op het label van Eddy
Gustave. Logo is hetzelfde als Eddy’Son Consortium
Mondial maar nu heet het Kadance. Hoe dan ook,
luister eens naar Michel Moutouari ..
In the past we’ve seen various albums with Kosmos and
Pierre Moutouari. Today we find this album with brother
Michel. I’ll give the brothers Moutouari some extra atten-
tion the coming days. Their music deserves to be played
a little more. From this record it is not known from what
year it comes but that can’t spoil the fun. Once again a
little pearl from Eddy Gustave’s label. The logo is the
same as with Eddy’Son Consortium Mondial but this
time it is called Kadance. One way or the other,
listen to Michel Moutouari ..

It was recorded and mixed at Studio Vévé. Also released
on Editions Vévé Int. originally. This copy however comes
to us on Rythmes et Musique as REM 620. Evoloko Jocker
started his career with Zaïko Langa-Langa from 1969 to ’74.
This solo album on which he appears with Orchestre Langa-
Langa Stars is from 1985. Read the Wiki page to see how his
career took place. So many changes in strength over the
years make the story quite complex. Listen to ‘La Carte

Hij werd opgenomen en gemixed bij Studio Vévé. Ook werd
hij aanvankelijk uitgebracht op Editions Vévé Int. Deze komt
op Rythmes et Musique als REM 620. Evoloko Jocker begon
zijn carrière bij Zaïko Langa-Langa van 1969 to 1974. Dit solo
album, waarop hij met Orchestre Langa-Langa Stars verschijnt,
is uit 1985. Lees zijn Wiki pagina om te zien hoe de tijdlijn er
verder uitziet. Zoveel veranderingen in de bezetting van de

An album posted in may 2015 caused some download
problems then. It should be working now but the files
were not organised like we do today and I decided to
do a Re-Post on them. This is one of the cd’s I found in
Johnny Chirino’s store in Amsterdam after Discos
Fuentes told me about it. Guitarist Pedro Jairo Garces,
found its tragical death in 1972, only 30 years of age.
He was the leader of this happy sounding band. Los
Golden Boys mixed traditional music like gaita, porro
and cumbia with twist and rock & roll.
Originally on LP in 1964 ..
In de maand mei van 2015 postte ik deze plaat al eens.
Er waren toen aanvankelijk wat download problemen.
Ondertussen werkt de link wel maar de files waren niet
compleet en georganiseerd zoals we vandaag de dag doen.
Vandaar vandaag deze Re-Post. Dit is één van die cd’s die
ik vond in Johnny Chirino’s zaak nadat Discos Fuentes me
over hem vertelde. Gitarist Pedro Jairo Garces overleed
ongelukkigerwijs in december 1972, slechts 30 jaar oud.
Hij was de leider van deze zeer gezellig klinkende band.
Los Golden Boys speelde een mix van traditionele muziek
als gaita, porro en cumbia met twist en rock & roll.

From the Niger River Delta we find this record with A.S. Eseduwo
and his Top Stars Band of Nigeria today. Not much information
about the group is available on the web. Only John B.’s Likembe
has a post where we find another of his tracks. I have added it
to the two we find on this record. If I understand well, this type
of highlife is called Awijiri and comes from the Ijaw people.
‘Kemeweri Kon Senma’ is in quite good condition and gives
us a solid listening experience, nice jumpy basslines
and vocal harmony, I’d say ‘Get it & Spread it..”
Uit de Niger River Delta vinden we vandaag deze plaat met A.S.
Eseduwo and his Top Stars Band of Nigeria. Niet veel informatie
is op het web te vinden. Alleen John B’s Likembe heeft eens een
post gehad, waarin één van zijn songs. Ik heb hem aan de andere
twee toegevoegd. Als ik het goed heb begrepen wordt dit type
highlife Awijiri genoemd en komt het van de Ijaw people.
‘Kemeweri Kon Senma’ is in prima conditie en geeft ons
een solide luister ervaring, lekkere ‘jumpy’ baslijntjes
en dito vokale harmonieën. Down, deel en luister ..

A quite mysterious record here today. At first I didn’t
know what it was. Backsleeve says Douala Rep. Came-
roon and Made in Ghana. The music however sounds
like Congolese cavacha. Using the Shazam tool on my
smart phone I found out the first side consists of the
works of Kiamuangana Mateta or Verckys. Side two
does not give any results on Shazam. I just assume
these are also songs by Verckys. If any of you has
another suggestion, please give us the
information we need.

Een nogal mysterieuze plaat vandaag. Eerst wist ik niet
waar we hier mee te maken hadden. De achterkant van
de hoes spreekt over Douala Rep. Cameroon en Made in
Ghana. De muziek klinkt echter als Congolese cavacha.
Toen ik de Shazam tool erop los liet met m’n smart phone
bleek de eerste kant nummers van Kiamuangana Mateta
ofwel Verckys te bevatten. Kant twee gaf geen resultaten,
ik ben er maar vanuit gegaan dat dit ook nummers van
Verckys zijn. Als een van jullie anders denkt, deel
dan s.v.p. je mening met ons.

Uit 1980 hebben we vandaag deze plaat met Scorpio Universel.
Vier van de vijf nummers zijn geschreven door de grote Robert
Martino. Bij de eerste noten van zijn gitaar op dit album klinkt
het heel even alsof je naar Pink Floyd luistert. Een toevallige
speling van de geest want even later wordt heerlijk duidelijk
hoe deze band zich heeft ontwikkeld. Na de wat drukkere
compas van de eerste twee elpees zijn de nummers drie
en vier meer en meer in balans. Geproduceerd door Fred
Paul en met de cover-art van José Exposito, die we kennen
van de prachtige hoezen op het New Yorkse SAR label, is
dit een plaat die je niet zou willen missen ..
From 1980 we’ve got this record with Scorpio Universel today.
Four out of five songs have been written by the great Robert
Martino. Listening to the first notes it is almost like you are
listening to Pink Floyd. A coincidental moment because an
instant later it becomes clear how this band has developed.
After the two, quite busy, first albums, the next elpees are
clearly more balanced. Produced by Fred Paul and with the

Ergens in 2008 heb ik eens een mailtje gestuurd naar Discos
Fuentes. Ik wilde weten of ze ooit muziek hadden geleverd
aan een winkel in mijn omgeving. Ik kreeg een heel sympathieke
mail terug. Ze bedankte me vriendelijk voor m’n mooie woorden
en vertelde dat ze ooit een stapel cd’s hadden geleverd aan
een zaakje aan het Dapperplein in Amsterdam. Het betrof
Chirino Music van Johnny Chirino, zijn zaak bestaat helaas
niet meer. Ik heb daar vervolgens zowat de complete
verzameling Discos Fuentes cd’s gekocht, een leuke stapel.
Als je dit leest Johnny, vriendelijke groeten van Moos.
Zo ontdekte ik een zwikkie artiesten waarvan ik nog niet
eerder gehoord had. Één van die cd’s is deze met Francisco
Zumaqué. Stevige Colombiaanse salsa uit ik weet niet welk
jaar, de cd is uit 1992 maar de muziek klinkt
ouder. Luister zelf eens ..
Somewhere in, I think in 2008, I wrote an email to Discos Fuentes.
I wanted to know if they had ever sold music to a shop in my
neighbourhood. They wrote a very friendly mail back to me
telling me they had once sold a bunch of cd’s to a shop at the
Amsterdam Dapperplein. It concerned Chirino Music owned by
Johnny Chirino, his place doesn’t exist anymore unfortunately.
I remember I bought almost every Discos Fuentes cd he had, it
was a nice pile. If you read this Johnny, kind regards my friend.
This way I discovered some spectacular artists never heard of
before. This cd with Francisco Zumaqué is one of those I found
there that day. Firm Colombian salsa from I don’t know what
year. The cd is from 1992 but the music sounds
older. Listen to it yourself ..

It was in may 2014 I made this compilation especially for the GG.
I just discovered it has mysteriously disappeared however. Why
and how ? .. you tell me, I have no idea. The compilation contains
6 of my favourite 12″ singles from the eighties, six singles with
tracks I used to play a lot in those days. Over the years more of
my precious posts have vanished strangely, if you remember
one that is gone too, please remind me so I can Re-Post it.
A pure coincidence I find out on a sunday by the way.

Het moet in de maand mei van 2014 geweest zijn dat ik ‘m heb
gepost. Ik kwam er echter zojuist achter dat ook deze post op
mysterieuze wijze van de GG is verdwenen. De compilatie bevat
zes van mijn favoriete 12″ singles, zes singels die ik in die tijd veel
plachtte te draaien. Zo door de jaren zijn er meerdere posts op
vreemde wijze verdwenen. Mocht jij je er een herrinneren die

was called after the famous actor since he was young. Many
Jamaican deejays were called after film stars and such in a
later stage. Charlie became popular for his focus on cultural
matters. He worked with Yellowman, Josey Wales, Sly &
Robbie, Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes, Roots Radics and others.

Goedemorgen groevers, na drie dagen oude Braziliaanse klanken
schakelen we door naar Congo’s jaren tachtig. Geen exact jaar
van uitgifte is hier bekend. Ook weet ik je over Fernand Mabala
weinig zinnigs te vertellen. Ik vond deze plaat in de kast en na ‘m
te beluisteren wist ik het. Dit is een artiest waar ik meer van zou
willen horen. Fijne vokalen, ritmes en gitaren. Al kraakt het wel
een beetje, deze is het waard nog een aantal keren te draaien.
De extra geluidjes zul je hier even voor lief moeten nemen ..
Good morning groovers, after three days of old Brazillian sounds
we turn to Congo’s eighties. No exact year of release is known for
this record. About Fernand Mabala I also can’t tell you anything
useful. I found this album on the shelf and after listening I knew,
this is an artist I would like to know more of. Nice vocals, rhythms
and guitars. Eventhough it has plenty background noise, this is an
elpee worth at least a couple of spins. The extra snap, crackle
and pops you’ll have to accept I’m afraid ..

At the moment I am completely captured by samba from
the old days. We saw Noël Rosa, Ismael Silva and Ataulfo
Alves. Today it is the turn of Mário Ramos de Oliveira, alias
‘Vassourinha’, which means little broom or sweeper. He
started very young and performed for the Brazillian radio
already at 12 years of age. Another historic sambista
who’s songs still sound today. Jump back in time
and listen to Vassourinha ..
Op het moment ben ik volledig terug in de tijd van de samba.
We zagen de afgelopen dagen reeds Noël Rosa, Ismael Silva
en Ataulfo Alves de revue passeren. Vandaag is de beurt aan
Mário Ramos de Oliveira alias ‘Vassourinha’, hetgeen bezem-
pje betekent. Hij begon zijn muzikale carrière reeds zeer jong.
Op z’n taalfde trad hij al op voor de Braziliaanse radio. Nog
zo’n historische sambista wiens nummers ook
