Luis Eduardo Bermúdez Acosta, better known as Lucho Bermúdez,
was a Colombian composer, musician and performer. he was one
of the most important orchestral leaders, composers in Colombian
music history. Back in the days when Jillem of Holland Tunnel Dive
posted 
this album I promised to post some of his older
work some day. Well here it finally is, hope you like it, it contains some
background noise, but what do you expect after 61 years. The town you see
is Carmen de Bolívar where he grew up. I have another 16 of his records
on the shelf, feel free to ask any other, I’ll see if I have it.

Het is een mooi verhaal. dat van de carrière van Lucho Bermúdez.
Ik heb in de tijd toen Jillem op Holland Tunnel Dive een album van
hem plaatste (zie link in Engels bericht) beloofd later meer van zijn
oude werk te plaatsen. Vandaag is het dan eindelijk zover.
Vandaag dus twee van zijn platen, mooi spul van 61 jaar geleden.
De plaat heeft wat kraakjes, maar wat verwacht je na 61 jaar.
Stad op de foto is Carmen de Bolívar waar Lucho opgroeide.
Ik heb nog 16 van zijn platen op de plank, verzoek dus gerust ..

In 1980, we were pleasantly surprised by this English group.
The Monochrome Set came with their debut album ‘Strange
Boutique’. Wiki calls it post-punk/new wave. They made this
avant-gardish sympathetic pop music that I really love. A
strong drum and bass rhythm machine combined with
subtle guitar work and friendly vocals, sweeet. If you

In 1980 werden we prettig verrast door deze Engelse band.
The Monochrome Set kwam met hun debuut album ‘Stange
Boutique’. Wiki noemt het post-punk/new wave. Ze maakten
avant gardische en sympathieke popmuziek die ik geweldig
mooi vind. Een sterke drum en bas ritme set gecombineerd
met subtiel gitaar werk en vriendelijke vocalen, heel lekker.

we’ve got this maxi single from 1978. It contains a song of the
late and great Cuban tres player Arsenio Rodriguez called Juana
and a song composed by Rodolph Gomis called Koura. A 12″
single on Ledoux Records. Hope U like it ..

A well known phenomena in Brazillian music is that artists
tend to cover each other’s songs. Almost without exception
and without scruples. This group is a pure cover band, they
don’t have their own songs but play tunes of others in a
decent way. We had a couple of their records before.

Een bekend fenomeen in de Braziliaanse muziek is dat artiesten,
bijna zonder uitzondering, elkaars nummers spelen. Zonder enige
scrupule, men vindt dit 100 % acceptabel. Deze groep is een cover
band, ze spelen uitsluitend nummers van anderen, maar doen dit

Good morning groovers, today I dug up this album with Oliver
de Coque from Nigeria. He must have been the ‘best dressed
chicken in town’ in his hometown. If you look at the sleeves
no explaining is necessary. Oliver may not have been the most
gifted singer, but his sound and certainly his appearance were
stunning. I have posted a number of his records between 2008
and 2020. Just remembered another two were waiting on the
shelf. I’d say get it and spread it like you use to ..
Goeiemorgen blogvrienden, vandaag heb ik deze plaat met de
excentrieke Oliver de Coque in de kast opgedoken. Hij moet wel
de ‘best dressed chicken in town’ geweest zijn waar hij woonde.
Als je de hoezen bekijkt behoeft dit geen verdere uitleg. Oliver
was misschien niet de meest geweldige zanger, maar zijn sound
en verschijning waren uitzinnig. Ik heb een stapeltje van zijn lp’s
gepost tussen 2008 en 2020. Zojuist bedacht ik dat er nog twee
wachtten. Ik zeg down, deel en luister weer als gebruikelijk ..

On the picture we see Oliver with Chief Stephen Osita osadebe.
The second half of song #3 displays a similar style of performing
as the latter, speaking in rhythm more than singing, I love it ..

Op de foto zien we Oliver samen met Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe.
Het tweede gedeelte van song #3 laat een soortgelijk geluid horen
als dat van laatstgenoemde, sprekend met ritme ipv zingend.
Ik ben een liefhebber van het werk van beide mannen ..

Hello, I found out there’s one album with the late and great
Elio Revé and his orchestra which I didn’t post yet. There are
much more, but those are not on my shelf. I just love the salsa
he called ‘Changüí’. Those sweet pitched voices, Elio’s strong
timbales beats, the trombones, just delightful. We had a bunch
before, see the links below. Don’t miss out on this one ..
Hoi, ik ondekte dat ik nog éen plaat met de ‘late & great’ Elio
Revé en zijn orkest op de plank had staan die nog niet gepost
was. Er zijn er nog veel meer, maar die moet ik nog eens tegen-
komen. Ik ben gek op de salsa die hij ‘Changüí’ noemde. De hoge
stemmetjes, Elio’s stevige timbales slagen, de trombones, klasse.
