She is known for her photographs of famous rockstars.
Lynn Goldsmith was a recording artist, film director, made
fine art photography etcetera. Lynn made this record under
the name Will Powers in 1983. It is an album that gives you
the perfect pep talk for your life. When it came out in 1983
I remember playing it over and over. Artists like Todd Rund-
gren, Nile Rodgers, Steve Winwood, Sting, Carly Simon, Sly
& Robbie, Ellen Foley and many others collaborated. An
elpee with a special message to help you become
a better person. Listen with confidence.

Ze is bekend om haar foto’s van vele rocksterren, maar Lynn
Goldsmith is meer dan dat. Ze was een ‘recording’ artiest,
film regiseur, maakte kunst fotgrafie en nog veel meer. Lynn
maakte dit album onder de naam Will Powers in 1983. Het is
een plaat die je de perfecte ‘pep talk’ geeft voor je levensweg.
Toen hij uitkwam in 1983 draaide ik hem grijs. Artiesten als
Todd Rundgren, Nile Rodgers, Steve Winwood, Sting, Carly
Simon, Sly & Robbie, Ellen Foley en vele anderen werkten er
aan mee. Een elpee met een speciale boodschap om je

and familiar type of music. From Ghana we find another
album with the Black Chinese and his band. Obuoba J.A.
Adofo is an artist the most groovers came to appreciate
a lot over the years. This is a record the City Boys Band
made in 1977. The kind of highlife we all like so much.
Through this post I’d like to thank you all for supporting
the Global Groove, from the Netherlands I wish you a
smooth change of year and everything you may wish
for in 2024. Stay tuned, listening to sweet music ..
Goeiemorgen, laten we dit krankzinnige jaar afsluiten met
bekende en betrouwbare muziek. Uit Ghana hebben we
hier nog zo’n plaat met de ‘Black Chinese’ en zijn band.
Obuoba J.A. Adofo is een artiest die de meeste van jullie
zeer zijn gaan waarderen door de jaren. Dit is een album
dat de City Boys Band uitbracht in 1977. Het soort highlife
waar we allen zo van houden. Via dit bericht wil ik iedereen
bedanken de Global Groove te bezoeken, hier vandaan
wens ik iedereen het allerbeste voor 2024, glijd rustig
het nieuwe jaar in, blijf luisteren naar onze grooves ..

At the end of the year I tend to go back in time and play
records that I used to way back when I was younger. While
going through my collection I stumbled onto this one. Man,
how I have always loved this album with performance-artist
Laurie Anderson. Look at the list of performers she brought
along here. Adrian Belew (guitar wizard), Bill Blaber, William
S. Burroughs, Michelle Cobbs, Anton Fier, Peter Gabriel, Connie
Harvey, Bill Laswell, Dolette McDonald, Brenda Nelson, Song
Won Park, Daniel Ponce, Nile Rodgers, David van Tieghem,
Phoebe Snow, Janet Wright and Atsuko Yuma. Awesome
team. 1984 was an important year for me, it was when I
opened my own Coffeeshop here in my hometown. I’ve
run it for 34 years until I sold it 5 years ago. This record

Aan het eind van het jaar heb ik altijd de neiging om terug
in de tijd te gaan en platen te draaien die ik vroeger veel
draaide toen ik jong was. Wandelend door de platenkast
stuitte ik op dit album met performance artiest Laurie An-
derson. Man, wat heb ik hier altijd van genoten. Kijk eens
wie ze allemaal recruteerde voor dit project. Adrian Belew

Daevid Allen was the co-founder of psychedelic rock
groups Soft Machine (1966) and Gong (1967). Australian
born David, moved to England in 1961. He met with Robert
Wyatt, Kevin Ayers and Mike Ratledge and the formed the
band Soft Machine. After a European tour in ’67 he was
refused to re-entry the UK because he had overstayed
his tourist visum earlier. Back in Paris he began Gong.

loop in the final groove of side one, cut off at 1,56 min.

Daevid Allen was mede oprichter van psychedelische rock
groepen Soft Machine (1966) en Gong (1967). Australisch
van geboorte vertrok hij naar Engeland in 1961 waar hij
Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers en Mike Ratledge ontmoette.
Samen begonnen zij de band Soft Machine. Na een Europese
tour in ’67 werd hij geweigerd de UK terug in te reizen omdat
hij de termijn van zijn toeristen visum had overschreden.
Terug in Parijs begon hij toen de band Gong.

Bizarre / Reprise 1969
As record collector and enormous Frank Zappa fan I have almost
all his albums in my record cabinet. Been digitizing several of them
in the past. Some of the albums are extremely difficult to record
due to the fact numbers tend to run over in each other on a lot
of them, small samples and spoken pieces complicate things even
more. The one we have today is an exception. Six clean tracks on
Hot Rats. It’s from 1969 and has always been one of my favorites.
‘Willie the pimp’ features another idol by the way, Captain Beefheart.
Maybe Zappa’s music is not suited for all you listeners, but I’m sure
many more fans are out there. Listen and enjoy ..
Als platen verzamelaar en enorme Frank Zappa fan heb ik door de
jaren bijna al zijn albums in de kast weten te toveren. Ik heb er al
diverse van gedigitaliseerd in het verleden. Sommige van zijn platen
zijn zeer moeilijk te registreren vanwege het feit dat nummers in
elkaar over lopen, korte geluidssamples en gesproken delen maken
het soms zelfs nog moeilijker. Deze heerlijke elpee uit 1969, en een
van mijn favorieten, is daar gelukkig een uitzondering op. Zes schone
tracks. Het nummer ‘Willie the pimp’ wordt bovendien gezongen door
een ander idool, Captain Beefheart. Misschien, ofwel zeker, is Zappa’s
muziek niet voor alle downloaders geschikt. maar ik ben er zeker
van dat er meer fans rondlopen. Luister en geniet ..

Today we listen to samba. Conjunto Nosso Samba is
the type of group that exists of musicians that sing
together. No real lead singer among them. They did
accompany some of the greatest singers like, Clara
Nunes, Nelson Cavaquinho, Clementina de Jesus,
João Nogueira and Martinho da Vila to name a few.
This is their first album on the Odeon label. Decent
