- Saturday August 24, 20131 comment on Seven “7 inches” from Congo vol. 4 Various Artists
Hello, this saturday I’ve made us another Seven 7″ collector.
I had these singles and a bunch of others waiting to get the
attention they deserve. On several labels and from several
years but mostly seventies. Give them a chance,
especially the shika shika tracks I think are
killers, but the others as well,
download and listen..tracks;

Hello good evening, it is time for lovers of Congolese music
tonight. It has been a while but this lp will surely make up
for the hiatus. Pablo Lubadika wrote some swell tracks in
his time and the tunes we play today add up to the justly
expectations as such. With the participation of Dizzy
Mandjeku and the vocals of Asi Kapela,
sweet hornsection, an album I
couldn’t resist, can you ? You
know the drill, do not wait,
Get it & Spread it !tracks;

One of Africa’s greatest solists of all time was without doubt
Docteur Nico Kasanda. His work was one of great sensibility,
undeniable grandeur and unmatched beauty. It is a shame
his music was kept in the dark for whole populations of the
western world for ages. It is only since the birth of the digital
highway this unique material from Africa’s past gets spread
world wide and slowly more people start listening tot this rich
piece of cultural inheritance. Please help to reanimate almost
forgotten treasures like this. Download it and play it for your
parents, your brothers and sisters, your
children and your friends.
Cheers..tracks;

Goodmorning, it’s been a few weeks but here we are with the
next Congolese lp. I’ve been out on a short trip to Istanbul.
If you get the chance to visit that wonderful city, take it, it’s
beautiful and offers a variety of scenes you really should see.
Something else, yesterday was International Recordstore
Day and we were lucky. The weather was really good and
I got the first chance to play in the open air with my mobile
soundsystem. At my friends recordstore ”t Oor’ here in my
hometown several groups did a short gig and I took care of
filling in the gaps. We had a lovely afternoon and the overall
feeling was one of happiness. The group you see was play-
ing all sorts of party sounds based on reggae, ska and other
feelgood styles with funny Dutch lyrics, everybody loved it.
Their name is ‘Goeiemiddag’. ( Dutch for good afternoon )
The lp I am posting today is one I coincidentally found
last week when checking out an Amsterdam second
hand store, take it while you can, get it & spread it..tracks;
1 Sakina
2 Une parole méchante peut blesser
3 Sangolo zakué
4 MeloPosted by Moosat 5:27 PM - Saturday March 23, 2013
Good morning, welcome at the Global Groove. Spring has
officially started this week but nature doesn’t seem to realize
yet. It’s cold in the Netherlands, still freezing at night and folks
are slowly getting tired of it. Let’s try and concentrate on a better
climate to arrive real soon. To help us get through, this lp will
surely add to that warmer feeling. ‘Les Bantous’ made quite
some wonderful albums and this is no exception. From 1975
on Pathé Marconi we’ve got us ‘Les Grands Succes Africains’
volume 3, a real sweet treat that will make temperatures
rise without any doubt, get it & spread it..tracks;
1 Makambo mibale

Hello world, it is saturday morning this 9th of march,
spring is not there yet and that shows. Rain, rain and
more rain is pouring from the sky. Winter took far too
long to pass this year and we’re all glad temperatures
are rising slowly, we’re not there yet but it gets better.
The best we can do is take an advance on summer by
listening to some warm soukous for instance. Bopol
Mansiamina is the man I have in mind and he’s back
with this album on which we find some of the finest
artists. On guitars next to Bopol himself we’ve got
Lokassa ya M’bongo and Dally Kimoko. On bass
it’s Bopol once more and he’s also taking care of
vocals with Wuta May, Ballou and Jean Papy.
Denis Hekimian on drums, nothing can go
wrong here. In the mean time we’re
making good progress with the
new and improved GG..
Hang in there a
bit more..tracks;
1 Ça c’est quoi ?
2 Mu karame
3 Makwandungu

Hello groovers, if you are a frequent visitor of this blog
you’ll probably be aware of our problems with hosting
services. Recently I moved over to Zippyshare, I thought
our files would be save there. Unfortunately the opposite is
true. It looks like some hidden force is following us around
just to frustrate these completely harmless files. As you will
surely understand, this is the cause I don’t post that much
music anymore. But, whoever is behind these disturbances,
the end of our problems is near. In a short while we’ll start
working on a brand new page from where nobody can throw
away any of our precious files.
We’ll get there eventually..Today’s post concerns an album by the great Sam Mangwana,
he appears oncemore with his African All Stars. The lp is a bit
worn out but that can’t spoil the fun. The splendid guitars of
maître Dizzy Mandjeku and Lokassa ya Mbongo always find
a happy listening ear on this guy. It’s probably from 1979.
You’d better grab it while it’s still there,
it’s a one time offer..tracks;

Originally these tracks were all recorded in 1965 and 1966.
The album we have here however concerns a re-release from
1977. It’s title ‘African Jazz 1960’ therefore seems a little strange.
On the frontcover we can see the lp’s from which they were
extracted, hope to find them too one fine day. For now we’ll
settle with these 12 fine songs and keep up hopes.tracks;
1 Lucie Yenga & African Jazz – Josetta
2 Lucie Yenga & African Jazz – Adios tsoutsou
3 Bombenga Jeannot & African Jazz – Ai mi povre charro

backsleeve note;
“The kiri-kiri is a marvelous discovery of Docteur Nico, the
whole Congo is under the ascendancy of this new dance;
born by the contact of elements of the traditional music of
this country with tonalities and modern rhythms.
The creator genius of Docteur Nico comes out here with a
dazzling selfcontrol and warm verve; really one is taken away
by a festival of solos and rhythms, kiri-kiri is the resultant of
the soucouss, rumba and jerk.”
This album has also been released as Sonafric 50.003,
our copy on Ngoma has some traces of intensive play
but sounds more or less exceptable, listen..tracks;
