Daniel Owino Misiani was the leading figure in Benga from
West Kenya. This 1989 album was direkt metal mastered
from digital tapes and sounds just maginificent. Click on the

Speaking about digging up old stuff, this rare piece of
Ghana highlife was brought to me by a friend. He travels
the world to find these treasures. First record I heard by
King Onyina, born Kwabena Onyina. His father used to have
a guitar and when he died and left it to Kwabena at the age of 13,
young King Onyina decided to make a living out of the instrument.
I have read somewhere on the web King Onyina passed away some 5
months ago. Let’s pay him respect in playing his music, listen.

On september 9, I posted ‘l’Afrique Danse 360.111, do you recall ?
With Orchestres Kiam and Lipua-Lipua. The first track, played by
Orchestre Kiam, called ‘Exode’ was from the hand of Mack Joss.
I do not know if he was a member of Orchestre Kiam, do you ?
Now here we have an album by Mack Joss and ‘le Negro Tropical’.
It’s from 1978 on the Sonafric label and in perfect condition. I found it
with a load of other treasures on the Mega Platen en CD Beurs, Europe’s
biggest recordfair, in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The weekend of 20 and 21
of november we’ll have the next edition, I can hardly wait. If you are in the

From 1976, this killer album by Orchestre Super Tembessa.
Jean Baptiste Moukolo is the man behind this great band.
Sha-Mouchko signed his contract with Pathé Marconi on
March 19, 1976 and formed this group of musicians. Seven of
the eight songs on this LP are of his hand, and what
a voice, indeed ‘super’.

Dear groovers around the world, you’ve really got to help me out here.
I didn’t manage to find out anything useful about this group and LP.
Beside a few names the backsleeve leaves us in the dark completely.
Dene Wade, Lutumba and Edia are the only names given behind
the tracknames. Of course we know Lutumba Simaro but is it him
the backsleeve speaks about ? Even Bolingo’s fantastic discography
has no 2( C 064-15809 ) in it’s listing. So, if you know ‘anything’ useful
on the topic, please leave us a comment, thanks. Listen.

From 1982, this is Na Hawa Doumbia’s second album. One of
the three she recorded in Mali shortly after being discovered.
She became maybe Mali’s most popular Wassoulou singer.
I am most impressed by the freshness of her young voice
which belongs amongst the worlds finest, no doubt. The LP has
some crackles but that can’t keep us from enjoying her pure
and beautiful sound before moving to Paris and changing to a
much more modern appraoch. Enjoy Na Hawa Doumbia.

No 360.111. With on the A-side Orchestre Kiam and on the
B-side Orchestre Lipua-Lipua. Recordings made in the years
1977 and 1978. Highly enjoyable LP you don’t want to miss.

What have we got for you today ? A rare Senegalese album by
Orchestre du Bawobab ( Boabab ). Strange thing about this LP is
the fact that side one contains 5 tracks while the sleeve only speaks
of 4. Now I don’t understand a word of Wolof or whatever language
they sing in here. Listening really good made me gamble a bit.
Track 1 & 2 are most certainly tagged as they should. In track 5,
I think I hear the word ‘Wango’ a few times so that leaves 3 & 4.
One of those tracks must be ‘Sama xol bul dem’ and the other is
unknown. I just gambled and suggest track 4 is the unknown factor.
I might be wrong, if anyone can clear up this matter, that would be great.
If I mistake you should all rename the tracks in the right order and so.
One way or the other, this is a fine piece of Senegalese music history.

P.S. I found a tracklist on the web that tells us track 1 is called
‘Seeri Takama’, a name that does not appear on the sleeve at all.
Could that be the missing track ?
