pagina op Wikipedia bestaat. Pedro’s composities
werden door veel Colombiaanse bands gespeeld.
Vreemd genoeg is over hem weinig te vinden op
het web. Het beroemde ‘La Pollera Colorá’ was
van zijn hand. Uit welk jaar deze plaat stamt
is onduidelijk. Diverse fijne Tropical

An album posted in may 2015 caused some download
problems then. It should be working now but the files
were not organised like we do today and I decided to
do a Re-Post on them. This is one of the cd’s I found in
Johnny Chirino’s store in Amsterdam after Discos
Fuentes told me about it. Guitarist Pedro Jairo Garces,
found its tragical death in 1972, only 30 years of age.
He was the leader of this happy sounding band. Los
Golden Boys mixed traditional music like gaita, porro
and cumbia with twist and rock & roll.

Er waren toen aanvankelijk wat download problemen.
Ondertussen werkt de link wel maar de files waren niet
compleet en georganiseerd zoals we vandaag de dag doen.
Vandaar vandaag deze Re-Post. Dit is één van die cd’s die
ik vond in Johnny Chirino’s zaak nadat Discos Fuentes me
over hem vertelde. Gitarist Pedro Jairo Garces overleed
ongelukkigerwijs in december 1972, slechts 30 jaar oud.
Hij was de leider van deze zeer gezellig klinkende band.

Ergens in 2008 heb ik eens een mailtje gestuurd naar Discos
Fuentes. Ik wilde weten of ze ooit muziek hadden geleverd
aan een winkel in mijn omgeving. Ik kreeg een heel sympathieke
mail terug. Ze bedankte me vriendelijk voor m’n mooie woorden
en vertelde dat ze ooit een stapel cd’s hadden geleverd aan
een zaakje aan het Dapperplein in Amsterdam. Het betrof
Chirino Music van Johnny Chirino, zijn zaak bestaat helaas
niet meer. Ik heb daar vervolgens zowat de complete
verzameling Discos Fuentes cd’s gekocht, een leuke stapel.
Als je dit leest Johnny, vriendelijke groeten van Moos.
Zo ontdekte ik een zwikkie artiesten waarvan ik nog niet
eerder gehoord had. Één van die cd’s is deze met Francisco
Zumaqué. Stevige Colombiaanse salsa uit ik weet niet welk
jaar, de cd is uit 1992 maar de muziek klinkt
ouder. Luister zelf eens ..

Somewhere in, I think in 2008, I wrote an email to Discos Fuentes.
I wanted to know if they had ever sold music to a shop in my
neighbourhood. They wrote a very friendly mail back to me
telling me they had once sold a bunch of cd’s to a shop at the
Amsterdam Dapperplein. It concerned Chirino Music owned by
Johnny Chirino, his place doesn’t exist anymore unfortunately.
I remember I bought almost every Discos Fuentes cd he had, it
was a nice pile. If you read this Johnny, kind regards my friend.
This way I discovered some spectacular artists never heard of
before. This cd with Francisco Zumaqué is one of those I found
there that day. Firm Colombian salsa from I don’t know what
year. The cd is from 1992 but the music sounds
older. Listen to it yourself ..

Guillermo Buitrago only grew to be 29 years of age when he died.
It has always remained a mystery exactly what kind of sickness he
suffered from. His parents had seven children of which five died
before their thirtienth. Guillermo was one of them. Guillermo Bui-
trago was one of the most successful Colombian composers of all
time. He wrote a number of hits which are still being played today,
especially during Christmas time. Numbers like La Vispera de
Año Nuevo, Grito Vagabundo, Ron de Vinola and Dame tu

een mysterie gebleven aan wat voor ziekte hij overleed. Zijn ouders
hadden zeven kinderen waarvan er vijf niet ouder werden dan 30.
Guillermo was daar dus een van. Guillermo Buitrago was een van
Colombia’s meest succesvolle componisten aller tijden. Hij schreef
tijdens zijn korte leven een aantal hits welke vandaag de dag nog
steeds worden gespeeld, in het bijzonder tijdens de Kerst periode.

An obscure and wonderful slice of Colombian candy today.
Gustavo Rey brings us some crazy dancing tunes from the
old days. Not exactly clear from what year they are, the
variety of songs on this record is exciting. What do
the Spanish liner notes say ?

hij winnaar werd van het prestieuze Festival de la Leyenda

As always it is a pleasure bringing the music of Colombia’s
vallenato champions. Julio de la Ossa is one of the pioneers
that made this style of music great to my opinion. Once
again an album from 1975, the year in which Julio became
champion of the prestigious Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata.

Anibal Velasquez is a Colombian composer and musician with
a career that spans over sixty years. He was the hit of Colombia’s
50’s and 60’s. The album we’ve got for you today is from 1970, 50
years of age and still very hot. Anibal was hospitalized last year
with a severe lung infection, let’s hope he’s doing better

This is DCM-407 on the Discomoda label from Medellin, Colombia.
It first appeared in 1967. Tanta Ropa, (so many cloths) seems to be
a joke. The girl on the frontcover was naked at first. In a later sta-
dium they have drawn a little bikini over the picture. Still not en-
tirely comfortable, as if ‘Me Too’ already existed, Discomoda then
re-released the album under the title of the first song, ‘Ambiente
de Guaracha’, with another sleeve. (small pic) Luis Gonzalez, or Lucho,
was the frontman of the group. The record has some background noise,
the salsa however is still quite enjoyable. Get it, spread it and listen ..

Dit is DCM-407 op het Discomoda label uit Medellin, Colombia. De
plaat verscheen oorspronkelijk in 1967. Tanta Ropa (zoveel kleding)
lijkt een spottende titlel te zijn. het meisje op de hoes was oorspronkelijk
naakt maar in een later stadium is er een klein bikini’tje overheen getekend.
Nog niet helemaal comfortabel, alsof ‘Me Too’ reeds bestond, bracht Disco-
moda de plaat opnieuw uit. Nu met de titel van het eerste nummer, ‘Am-
biente de Guaracha’, en met een andere hoes. (zie kleine foto) Luis Gonzales
ofwel ‘Lucho’ was de leider van de band. Het album heeft wat achtergrond
geluid maar de salsa is nog steeds lekker. Down, deel en luister weer ..

On this album with Los Curramberos de Guayabal we find
singers Adolfo Echeverria, Alberto Pacheco and Anibal Velas-
quez. Gabriel Romero also used to take part in this group
but not on this record. The singers all had extensive solo
careers later. We find Anibal Velasquez singing El Bobo
de la Yuca, by Beny Moré. Other famous songs are
Rosa Maria, La Luna y el Mar, Cumbia del Caribe
and La Banda esta Borracha. I have added a
couple of different versions as a bonus ..

Op deze plaat met Los Curramberos de Guayabal vinden we
zangers Adolfo Echeverria, Alberto Pacheco en Anibal Velas-
quez. Gabriel Romero zong ook met de groep maar niet op dit
album. Ze hadden allemaal een solo carrière hierna. Anibal
Velasquez zingt hier El Bobo de la Yuca van Beny Moré. Andere
bekende nummers zijn Rosa Maria, La Luna y el Mar, Cumbia
del Caribe en La Banda esta Borracha. Ik heb enkele andere
