When I made this comp of songs of the heart by Congolese artists,
I was looking for a cover and picked this one. It is part of a collage I made
for my Maori friend Tangaroa Tuane. He tattooed my back and I made
him a collage. Always nice to deal without money. Check him at his hyves-
page. http://tangaroatuane.hyves.nl/ . Google on ‘Ta Moko’ and you get an
idea of what he does. About the music, as you can see, a collection of
Congolese tracks, all sung from the heart and about the heart.tracks;

Do you know that 1989 BBC double CD, ‘Under African Skies’?
When it first came to my ears I was blown away by one song specially.
It is the last track on the album but it made an incredible impression.
The voice of Bezawork Asfew is the most extraordinary, first time I heard
it, it sent shivers down my spine, spontaneous goosebumps, tears,
words can’t express how that felt, ever since I’ve been looking around to find
her music. All paths seem to lead to the CD this track comes from. If anyone
can help us to find something, anything she made, that would be super.
With the help of the great series on Buda Musique, ‘éthiopiques’, I made a
compilation of different versions of ‘T’zeta’ or ‘Tezeta’, a traditional
that practically all Ethiopian musicians seem to have played, listen. After receiving all your tips, it seemed appropriate to post this fantastic
Youtube movie, thank you very very much for enlightening me !!!tracks;
1 Bezawork Asfew – T’zeta
2 Mahmoud Ahmed – Tezeta
3 Mulatu Astatqe – Tezeta
4 Sèyfou Yohannès – Tezeta
5 Menelik Wèsnatchèw – Tezeta
6 Either/Orchestra – Soul Tezeta
7 Tèsfa-Maryam Kidané – Tezeta

To make good digital copy’s of my LP’s I use a Sony Compact Disc Recorder,
RCD-W100. It needs special CDR-Pro Audio recordables and yesterday I was
supposed to go to the store to collect my order of them. Because I forgot
to do so, I am out of material today and could not make a normal post.
A good opportunity to catch up with the Global Samplers. This one covers

To help you find your way through history on this page, I used to
make Samplers with a track of every LP. The last one was posted in
july of this year. About time I did the next one so here it is.
From this volume and forth I shall skip some LP’s with tracks that
cover a whole LP-side, they spoil the pace, but every track on the
sampler still represents an album on the page. This one covers
posts in april of this year. Find Global Samplers

Goodmorning, as some of you know I have been struggling with
several webhosters to find one that doesn’t kill my links for
what ever reason. Now Mediafire seemed to be a real good one and
it would be if it didn’t get blocked in China. I think the World
Wide Web should be available worldwide but it is not. What I shall
do is use Rapid Share untill a link gets killed. If so please report
it to me ASAP and I’ll replace it with a Mediafire link. This way the
whole world can still benefit as it should. Some listener suggested a new Global Sampler and since I’m far behind
on them I’ll make a few to reconnect with the present.
This Sampler shows the posts between march 1 and march 10 2009.

Many of us know the songs of Noël Rosa, they are still being
played today by lots of Brazilian artists. Mostly we hear the
countless renditions by those artists but seldom by Noël Rosa himself.
When one of our visitors told me he was so happy discovering the
music of Noël Rosa, I decided to put together a compilation with
his songs and all sung by himself. There are two songs on which he
is accompanied by others, there’s one with Marília Baptista and one
with Ismaël Silva. I went through all the material I have available
so no vinyl rips this time. Noël Rosa was one of the most important
composers in Brazilian musical history. Whether it’s samba, bossa
nova or MPB, it would not have been the same without
the work of Noël Rosa. Enjoy this comp.tracks;
1 São coisas nossas
2 Onde está a honestidade ?
3 Conversa de botequim
4 Você vai se quiser (with Marília Baptista)
5 Gago apaixonado
6 Positivismo
7 João Ninguém
