Sometimes it can be very annoying, it depends of your
mood I think, but sometimes also, it can be enjoyable.
I’m talking about crackely old LP’s, and this is one of
them. Somehow I kinda liked it when listening to this
1977 Nigerian album. It’s sleeve has hardly survived
the 34 years and the vinyl is in comparable state.
Just imagine sitting and listening by the fireside,
close y’r eyes and before you know it you only
hear the sweet rhythms, give it a try.tracks;

Last night’s post also disappeared so we’ll post this
LP again too. It’s a rare album of funky psychadelic
highlife, a more or less ‘ungooglable’ gem. I had written
down all them difficult names for you but since blogger
threw my posts away, get the info from the backsleeve
after downloading it. Hope you like it.tracks;

This record album is a special donation by Nana Kwame
Ampadu I to Okwahu United Football Club ( Asaase Aban )
as his personal contribution towards the upkeep and running
of the club. Very relaxed and laid back highlife by master
Nana Kwame Ampadu I who delivers as always.
For your lazy sunday afternoon, enjoy.tracks;

you with his funky blend of highlife and afrobeat,
I’m sure you’re gonna like.

One of the happiest Ghanaian dance bands of the days is
without doubt Jerry Hansen’s Ramblers Dance Band. Track
after track straight dance material you can’t resist. I don’t
know about you but I am instantly happy when I put this on.
Delightful vocal parts over well arranged orchestral moves
It will make you wanna dance till dawn,

Second LP by this artist at the GG. I am sorry to inform
you a-side has a few unfortunate pops. I guess it’s been
played a couple of times before. Still, however a bit crackly
it is worth a spin or two. By the way, don’t you think Bob
looks spectacular and supercool at this hot sleeve ?

Highlife comes in various forms and styles, Nigerian or
Ghanaian for instance are quite different. I tend to favour
the last one. This LP by Akwasi Yeboah is a striking
example of a style I adore. Hope you feel the same way.
Strange, label says ‘Menua ne memuna’ and cover ‘Memuna etc.’
Enjoy this rare album on the Famous Ride Away Records.tracks;

In 1984 Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe was rewarded for the
outstanding achievement with the sales of over 750.000 albums
on Polydor label and in appreciation of his immense contribution
to the progress of Polygram Records Ltd. in Nigeria.
He was the first Nigerian artist to receive at a single time 3 awards,
2 gold discs and one platinum. It was for ‘Agbalu Aka no ani’ and
‘Onu Kwulunjo Okwue Mma’. What they did not know yet then,
is that ‘Osondi Owendi’ would become the most sold out highlife
album ever. At least, that’s what the rumour says. One way or
the other, it sure is a tremendous album, listen and judge yourself.tracks;

It’s been quite a while since we had us some ‘African Brothers’.
This LP is titled ‘Sanbra’, after the song written by Alex Konadu.
It does not tell us from which year it is, do you know ? It does
tell us it’s a Nigerian production on Jay Jay Records, listen.tracks;
