I.K. Dairo is called ‘Father of Juju’. On this 1978 LP, he
brings us juju with a unique sound. With his accordeon he turned
yoruba juju into a complete new style. The instrument always
makes me feel at home straight away, it’s warm sound creates an
atmosphere so friendly, there’s no way around it.tracks;

Dele Abiodun combined elements of Juju, Highlife and Afrobeat
to create his unique Adawa Super Sound. The songs are cut of and
must have been way longer originally but I think
they’re still worth a spin.tracks;

In the continuing story of King Sunny Adé, we find this album
from 1987. King Sunny wears diamond leather and a golden watch
and sings about jealousy but the music’s still sweet and that’s what
it’s all about, talking drums and Hawaï guitars. Count me in.tracks;
1 Sokoyokoto
– Honey baby
– Pegan pegan
– Jealousy

If we speak of Juju, we think of King Sunny Adé or Chief Ebenezer Obey.
Admiral Dele Abiodun is quite famous too but have you heard of Femi
Akinyemi’s Juju Lucky Stars ? I never had untill I found this here album.
I can’t find any information on the web about Femi. He’s from the urban
Yoruba scene in Lagos and it rocks like crazy. The year of release is also
an unknown factor, late 70’s probably, can you tell us ? Listen to this
sweet melt of Afro-Beat, Highlife and Juju.tracks;
1 Egungun Riot 1976
2 Ki araiye soraPosted by Moosat 8:13 PMCategories

Another Tribute album in juju style today. Chief Commander Ebenezer
brings it to the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Ebenezer flirts with
western influences on this LP and calls it ‘Miliki Sound’.

Here’s a piece of Yoruba Juju History, a Sunny Adé from 1976.
To my humble opinion one of the better albums. Unfortunately
it has some pops and crakcle, I guess it is worth at least a
couple of spins though. Get it and spread it ..Hier is een plaatje met wat Yoruba Juju historie met Sunny
Adé uit 1976. Ik denk zelf één van zijn betere albums. Hij
heeft wel wat plopjes en kraakjes maar is het toch waard om
op z’n minst enkele keren te draaien naar mijn mening.
Pak hem, luister en geef door aan je vrienden ..tracks;
1 Late General Murtala Muhammed
– Afemi afemi
– Asa nke
2 Ominu Nkomi
– Ika to to simu
– Odofin bello
– Mo beru agbaPosted by Moosat 9:31 PMCategories
