During the period of early 70’s, from 1973, Channel One began to
create a sound that made them for the next few years the most
popular record label in Jamaica. With every song coming out of
Channel One becoming a hit with groups such as The Mighty Dia-
monds, Pat Kelly, Junior Byles, Earth and Stone, The Revolutiona-
ries, and Jays and more. The Channel One mix and Sound became
so famous that other producers tried to capture it. The resident
session men known as The Revolutionaries such as Sly and Robbie,
Willie Lindo, Rad Bryan and Ansell Collins made the main line-up
with added musicians such as Chinna and lloyd Parks and the horn
section made up of Tommy McCook, Hedley Bennett and Vin
Gordon. Special thanks to Austin Palmer who
selected these tunes. (liner notes)tracks ;

Early eighties, with a couple of friends, we really got stuck in reggae
music. An album that was permanently on the side of the turntable
was this dub version of Jacob Miller’s ‘Wanted’. Bald Head Justice
with the Fat Man Ridim Section of Ian Lewis and his buddies with
Sly and Robbie. I was totally hooked on this one. It is not complex
but somehow has a special touch, nice guitars horns and keys.
A dub lover’s treat you don’t wanna miss out on. I must
have played it thousands of times ..In de vroege jaren tachtig ben ik met een aantal vrienden echt
even blijven steken in de reggae.
..Jah will never give the power to
a bald head man, to judge a rasta man .. ”Jacob Miller – Wanted 1978

Jah Woosh, real name Neville Beckford, is 23 years old, a
virgo, and one of the most exciting ‘toasters’ to emerge
from Jamaica in 1976. In may, during his visit to England
he had three records in the reggae top ten at the same
time. We feel this must be some kind of a record!
On this album, his first major solo album to be released in
England, he is backed by the Mighty Clouds and on several
of the titles his vocals are assisted by other Jamaican
artists.
On Albert Classau he is joined by Shelton Wallis and on
Falling in Love, Veronica Adams accompanies him. He
is also joined by Levi Williams on Don’t Do That and
Hubert Lee on In Deh.
All titles are written and produced by himself and
recorded at King Tubby’s and Channel One studio.
A fine debut album from Jah Woosh which should
really establish him as one of the front-line
skankers from Jamaica. (liner notes)tracks ;
