We haven’t seen a whole lot of them but today we’ve got us a live
registration of a salsa concert in Central Park, New York 1978. With
special guest Piper Pemienta Diaz who we know from los Latin Brothers
of course. New York was the capital of salsa brava in those days, rough
though sweet sound with lots of trombone and great vocal parts.
Carlos Carvajal started his career with Peregoyo
y su Combo Vacana.titels ;
01 – Cañaveral
02 – Asi se baila
03 – Varon-varon
04 – Amor mezquino

Colombian salsa would not have been the same without the
music of the Latin Brothers. Still with Joe Arroyo this 1976
album is one that stands out for the sound we all
love. The trombones add rough edges, sweet
background vocals and the swell producing by
Mario Rincon Parra make this album a true
listening pleasure, check it out yourself..tracks;
01 – Te encontre
02 – Dudando
03 – Dos caminos
04 – Antioqueñita
05 – Canto por no llorar
06 – Ya no hay amor
07 – Patrona de los reclusos
08 – Quiero ser tu vida
09 – Te fuiste a cali

I am quite sure I posted some 5 or 6 Fruko lp’s in the past
but somehow they got lost, really do not understand how.
One way or the other, I’ll bring them back straight away.
This is ‘Fruko – El Violento’ from 1973 on Discos Fuentes
off course and with his buddies Wilson Saoko and Joe
Arroyo, lead vocals. Fruko and his friends were crazy
about New Yorks salsa brava movement on Fania. The
lp’s front and backsleeve breath more or less the same
gangster look like for instance Willie
Colon’s covers in that era.
For now, a piece of Colombia’s salsa history with
Fruko y sus Tesos, get it and spread it..tracks;
1 Tronco seco
2 El violento
3 Nadando
4 La nueva bamba
5 To solo tu
6 Salsa na ma
7 Alma navideña
8 Lamento cubano
9 Mosaico matancero,
– Vamos pa’l campo
– La nochebuena
– Rumba en navidadPosted by Moosat 6:26 PM - Sunday October 21, 2012
This is the second lp by latin pianist Eddie Palmieri and his group
‘La Perfecta’. They were the originators of a sound called ‘trombanga’,
introducing two trombones and a flute instead of trumpets. This contributed
a lot to their early sixties succes in the New York latin scene. Later it was
also used by artists such as Willie Colon and Manny Oquendo among others.
The vocals on this 1963 album are taken care of by Ismael Quintana. Enjoy..tracks;
1 El molestoso
2 Asi es la humanidad
3 Lazaro y su microfono
4 Contento estoy
5 Sabroso guaguanco
6 Yo sin ti
7 Co un amor se borra otro amor
8 En cadenas
9 La gioconda
