Noel Rosa. Kant twee van dit album bestaat volledig uit songs
van zijn hand. Op kant één vinden we nummers van verschillende
andere artiesten. Haar stem heeft me vanaf de eerste noten die

It was in october 2015 that we already had Keba Na Ye, an album
from 1982 by his hand. Today a follow up on that one, an album we
don’t find on Discogs or Google. We also can’t seem to find a year
of release on this record. Next to Marcus Mvouka we find Emmanuel
Bouetoumoussa who plays guitar, both solo and rhythmic, bass, drums
and percussions and tumbas. Marcus Mvouka does vocals including
backing and also first and second trumpet. Quite an achievement for
two guys. Get it and spread it if you can, enjoy listening..

Vandaag dus de lang verwachte opvolger. Over dit album kon ik niets
vinden op Discogs en ook niet op Google. Tevens is geen jaar van uitgave
bekend. Naast Marcus Mvouka vinden we Emmanuel Bouetoumoussa op
solo, ritme en bas gitaar, en ook op drums, percussie en tumbas. Marcus
Mvouka zingt, ook de achtergrond vokalen en speelt eerste en tweede
trompet. Een tamelijk knap staaltje voor twee man. Luister en
geef hem weer door als je kunt..

It was december 23rd when, walking in Amsterdam, the grim
reaper tried to snatch me away. I got lucky and was saved by an
English lady. He did not succeed. It wasn’t my time yet and after
spending three weeks in the hospital I finally got home this past
weekend. So a belated Happy New Year from my part. Very happy
indeed, it changed my view at life completely. Le Grand Philo Kola

Op 23 december j.l. heeft Magere Hein geprobeerd me uit jullie
midden weg te rukken. Ik had echter veel mazzel en m’n leven werd
gered door een Engelse dame in een drukke straat in Amsterdam. Het
was mijn tijd nog niet en na drie weken in het ziekenhuis te hebben
doorgebracht kwam ik afgelopen weekend weer thuis. Een enigszins
verlaat Gelukkig Nieuw Jaar dus van mijn kant, zeer gelukkig mag ik
wel zeggen, het heeft m’n kijk op het leven volledig veranderd. Le
Grand Philo Kola keert vandaag samen met mij terug hier, dus
Bonne Année van ons beiden. Mijn boodschap; Pluk de dag..

Alex Bartsch is a photographer who is a true reggae fan. He was first introduced to Bob Marley when he was a child, and he got so inspired that he spent 10 years of his life traveling around London searching for original locations of the most famous reggae vinyl covers from 1967 to 1987.

Taarab, the Oman and far east influenced east African music,
from Zanzibar is still very popular today. This record is from
1989 on Globe Style. Culture Musical Club performed at the
2009 Hertme African Festival in the Netherlands, special
guest star was the 93 year old Bi Kidude.

Het is een cliché maar oh zo waar. Hoe ouder je wordt, hoe
sneller de tijd aan je voorbij trekt. Er zijn gelukkig zat manieren
om hem wat te remmen. Zo kan ik uren verdwijnen in het aan
stukken knippen van oude tijdschriften e.d. Vervolgens weer
een nieuw plaatje te plakken met de brokstukken ervan. Of
het luisteren naar zweverige klanken uit de collectie vreemde
muziek, over de jaren bij elkaar gespaard. Vandaag krijg je wat
van beide. Droom weg en rem de tijd een uurtje..

It is a commonplace for sure but oh so true. The older we get,
the faster time passes by. Fortunately there are ways to slow the
pace. I use to cut up magazines and such and create new images
with the scraps. A fun way to spend time. Or listening to all types
of weird music, collected over the years. Today you get a bit of both.
