With that sweet sound of Haïti we’re getting more and more
in the good summer mood. So let’s do another one. I can’t
seem to tell you a whole lot about it. On Dorceant’s Records
and from 1982. probably an ode to Lionel Benjamin if I’m
not mistaking. Nice and mellow compas,
..partly in twoubadou style..

Ik heb al eerder gewezen op die geweldige cd op Strut Records
genaamd Haïti Direct. Een van de nummers erop komt van deze
elpee van Les Fantaisistes d’Haïti uit 1970. Het is het laatste nummer
op de plaat en het zevende op de cd getiteld ‘Panno Caye Nan Bois
Chêne’. Sfeervolle compas van deze top groep. Met het ouder worden
gaan we ook van steeds oudere muziek houden, geinig fenomeen..

It is not the first time pointing at that marvelous cd on Strut Records
called Haïti Direct. One of the songs on it comes from this album by
Les Fantaisistes d’Haïti from 1970. It is the last song on the record
and the seventh on the cd titled ‘Panno Caye Nan Bois Chêne’.
Nice atmospheric compas by this great band. Getting older, one
starts liking older music as well, funny phenomenon..

hier nog niet eerder zagen. Inyang Henshaw en zijn Top Ten
Aces brengen de Efik Gold serie die uit wel acht volumes bestaat.
Dit is de tweede in de reeks. Heerlijk relaxte stijl highlife..

Julio de la Ossa werd na te hebben meegedaan sinds 1968, in 1975
dan toch eindelijk “Rey Vallenato”. De juryleden herkenden in zijn
stijl de authentieke vallenato. Julio de la Ossa , ook wel “el Pequeno
Gigante del Acordeon” genoemd werd geboren in de staat Sincelejo
en brengt op deze langspeler zijn tot dan toe beste werk. Het
kronings album uit 1975 werd reeds geplaatst op 29 juni 2015.

He joined the competition since 1968 but in 1975 Julio de la Ossa
finally was crowned “Rey Vallenato”. The members of the jury
recognized the authentic vallenato in his style. Julio de la Ossa,
also called “el Pequeno Gigante del Acordeon” was born in the
state of Sincelejo and brings his best songs till then on this

which sixteen old Congolese songs. African Fiesta, Rock-a-Mambo,
Negro Band and Lucie Yenga are some of the featured artists here.
One by one beautiful numbers, very recommendable for
all lovers of this type of music..

We had us some 25 of them records by Nana Ampadu’s African Brothers.
It seems there is no end to the pile of albums they have produced. All the
better bacause we can never get enough of the fine highlife they made.

Helemaal waar Jean-Luc, dit is inderdaad een geweldig album.
Het is ook nog eens uit 1973, op de een of andere manier mijn
favoriete muziekjaar. Zoveel moois. Laat het eens rustig op je
inwerken, dansje wellicht, laat je maar gaan..

Absolutely true Jean-Luc, this is indeed a marvelous album.
Thereby it is from 1973 as well, somehow my favourite music
year, so many great records. Let it get you, have a little dance,

Één van de meest mellow muziekstijlen vind ik ‘morna’ van de Kaap
Verdische Eilanden. Echt een soundje voor bij het zwoele weer van
de afgelopen dagen. Bana is een van de meesters op dit terrein.

One of the most mellow styles in music is ‘morna’ to my humble opinion.
It is from the Cape Verdian Islands and fits perfectly with the sultry type
of weather from the past days. Bana is one the masters in the field.

For a few years now, I meet with a French record dealer at the
Utrecht fair. He brings loads of Nigerian lp’s every time. Prices
are always fair. Quality however is a different matter. Some are
clean but many carry the marks of time like mostly with Nigerian
records. One way or the other, the records he brings are obscure
and sometimes quite rare. Listen to this one with King Love A.U.
and the Ubulu International Band of Africa..

Reeds enkele jaren ontmoet ik op de tweejaarlijkse Utrechtse
platenbeurs een Franse dealer die stapels elpees uit Nigeria met
zich meebrengt. De prijzen zijn altijd eerlijk. De kwaliteit van de platen
echter is een ander verhaal. Soms zijn ze clean, soms ook erg stoffig
en krakerig zoals vaak met Nigeriaanse platen het geval is. Hoe dan
ook, meestal is er erg veel obscuur spul bij en soms ook zeer
zeldzaam. Luister naar deze met King Love A.U. en de Ubulu
International Band of Africa..

Hello groovers, let’s kick off the new decennium at the GG with
some nice vallenato. It’s been a little while already. Alonso
Pedrozo was here on an earlier occasion in 2016. His Best of
album had three of the songs we find here also. So we find nine
unheard tracks on this album from I think 1975. The frontsleeve
is filled with autographs and it looks like Alonso Pedrozo’s is
also there. It has quite some scars but still, awesome tunes..

Hallo groevers, laten we dit tweede decennium van de GG openen
met wat lekkere vallenato. Dat was alweer even geleden. Alonso
Pedrozo was hier reeds op een eerdere gelegenheid in 2016. Zijn Best
of album bevatte drie van de nummers die we ook hier aantreffen.
Negen nog niet gehoorde tracks dus op deze plaat uit ik denk 1975.
De voorkant van de elpee staat vol met handtekeningen en het lijkt
erop dat ook Alonso’s krabbel erbij staat. Ondanks de diverse
littekens is dit een schijf van fijne deuntjes..
