Over the past years we had a couple of lp’s with Trio CePaKos,
with Pamelo Mounk’a and Kosmos Moutouari. The ‘Ce’ stands
for Celestin Kouka Celio and today we have an album of their
Orchestre le Peuple but just with Kouka C. Celio. It sounds as
bright as we already hoped it would, just love them guitars of
Orchestre le Peuple. Celio’s voice, the warm hornsound,
and I didn’t even mention those phat rhythms yet, hell
yes, in other words, do not miss listening to another
great piece of Congo’s musical inheritance,
..get it & spread it..tracks;

Good morning groovers, what have we got cooking today ?
This lp by Morgan Blanco is a Mexican release. When
listening closely, you hear the fade-outs are done a little
sloppy, it seems OCM label raked together a bunch of
Morgan Blanco’s cumbias on this lp. It does not appear
to be a career album. The cumbias presented however
are of Colombian quality, renditions of songs written by
Ovidio Martinez, Rosendo Martinez, Rafael Mejia,
Nicolás Ortiz, Carlos Román and Morgan
Blanco himself. Worth at least
a couple of spins..
Enjoy.tracks;
1 Noche de cumbiamba
2 Ramita de matimba

Calypso has always been one of my favourite music styles,
especially when from the sixties which period I think brought
forth the best sound. When calypso turned into ‘soka’, what
means Soul Calypso, it changed the sound in an irreversible
way. Today I’m happy to bring you this slice of sixties calypso
which contains both known and some lesser known songs.
‘Shame and Scandal’ by the Wailers was new to me, nice
version, shame about the soundquality. Like mostly the
songs tell us little stories, not seldom hiding a
second story between the lines. Enjoy them
and share them if you can..tracks;
1 Lord Kitchener – Dr. Kitch
2 Lord Creator – Big bamboo
3 The Wailers – Shame and scandal
4 Lord Cristo – Dumb boy and the parrot

I found this album by Duo Los Ahijados accidentally, it came in
the wrong cover when I bought it. The sleeve you see here was
taken from the web. So the brothers Cuco and Martin Valoy are
back at the Groove with a hidden treasure, it was an unexpected
find when going through my latin albums this afternoon. Being
from the Dominican Republic themselves, they were famous for
their renditions of Cuban songs but went in multiple directions
as we can hear on this lp. Love their bright guitarsound and
vocal harmony. We’ve got five other
albums, you know the drill..tracks;
1 Olemua
2 El hombre misterioso
3 Yo la espero
4 Corazon de acero
5 El columpio de la vida
6 Contestacion a seguir tus huellas

As we say in the Netherlands, promise causes guilt. It means
I am in debt to one of our visitors who I promised to post this
record. I kept it on the shelf because it contains jesus titles.
I am a anti religious person, I take distance from any religious
message and support the music as it is, very nice juju. I truly
love the sound but hate the fact that juju artists act like
priests sometimes. So Tony, enjoy this album, the music
is great. If anyone is looking for more King Sunny
Adé, just fill in his name and search,
top left, there are 22 other titles..tracks;
1 Ka jo mu jo
– Mo bebe fori
– Jeki ntegbe
– Baba ma doju timi
2 Jesu o seun

“During the mid-70s and early 80s, Mchunu was one of the
leading vocalists in the raucous Zulu ‘jive’ style, which
gave way to mbaqanga. Mchunu’s band typified its appeal,
featuring driving rhythms and instruments such as guitar,
violin and concertinas, together with powerful blues-based
vocals. He has released a number of albums that have sold
strongly throughout South Africa, but none have managed to
sustain an international reputation.”
Taken from All Music at the world wide web.
Until now I haven’t been posting a lot of mbaqanga simply
because I don’t own and know that much. I knew Moses
Mchunu from that great collector that was released in
1985, the Indestructible Beat of Soweto, so when I
stumbled upon this lp, I knew what to do.
The jive is so stirring, it’s impossible
to ignore, dance music of the
first kind, enjoy..tracks;

This morning I woke up full of inspiration, I started my computer,
made coffee and chose an album to post. I sat down and the words
just came naturally. My communication skills are often coming short but
today I was somehow satified over the words I picked. Now I am quite
experienced doing this little job, I do it so often, the automatic pilote
takes over when my mind drifts off somehow. I was ready to post,
the recording was succesful but then I realised I had threw away
my so carefully chosen text, damned, it was gone and I was
unable to reproduce the lines. I tried to rewrite it but the words
had gone forever, stupid me..Now about the music posted today, the album I want
to share with you today is with some of the greatest samba artists. It
is released in 1974 on RCA Victor, Martinho da Vila and Os Originais
do Samba both have a bunch of records posted here, if you want, you
can find them using our search-bar on the left..enjoy.P.S. I just noticed this is the 100th Brazillian topic

In the series ‘Kenyafrica !’, we had volumes two and five
so far. They were recorded in 1976 and it’s been over 3
years I posted the last one, in september 2011. Finally
I can bring you the number one in the series. It is an lp
by Daniel Kamau, he was born in the ‘Central Province’
of Kenia, the 2nd of february 1949. His parents worked
hard on their little farm to be able to raise the family.
Daniel loved to play the guitar from 9 years old but
wasn’t allowed to touch the guitars of his older brothers
because he was too young..Later he proved them all
wrong being the first to record an album of his own
still being a student. He had several hits during the
seventies, went to England and when he came back
recorded this here album. It is a sheer beauty and
I’m very glad to bring it, enjoy the benga
and pass it on to your friends..tracks;
