    Opambuo, front

Good afternoon, I have found us another album by the great
Opambuo International Band of Ghana. The previous lp’s got
to find plenty happy listeners and I guess this one also will.
The title sounds familiar doesn’t it ? Kyeremateng Atwede
brought an album with almost the same title, “I go die for you”.
Although Ghanaian highlife as well, this concerns a different
song. I really like the sound of the keys in the titlesong,
Fender Rhodes if I am not mistaking. For this one time
I freshed up the sleeve, it was really dirty..
    Sweet Ghanaian highlife,
get it & spread it now..

    tracks;

    1 I go die
    2 Owuo ayemebi
    3 Wagye aboso
    4 Nsona moa yafunu
5 Mani so tan, Madi ama

    Morgan Blanco, front

The vallenato of Morgan Blanco with it’s jumpy basslines
and happy accordeon is one I love to play. Such a shame
this lp has so many scratches. One way or the other, I still
love to give it a spin, the music is great. Maybe someone
can give it a cleaning treatment and throw it back in. Would
be wonderful. Be sure to snatch it while you can..cheers..

    tracks;

    1 Que dolor de amor
2 La misma yuca se arranca
    3 Paloma sin ala
    4 Cachoencefalograma
    5 Cumbia de mis amores
6 Lo lindo de la vida es la mujer
    7 damelo
    8 Serenata de acordeon
    9 La mona

    Discotheque 70, front

If I am not mistaking, my French is not that good, Syliphone Records
made this compilation to please thousands of happy Guinéean radio
listeners. The tracks on side-a of this lp, 1 till 5, have all been tophits
at the various national radiostations in 1970. Tracks 6 and 7 are extra’s
making a compliment to the young instrumentalists that play authentic
melodies and rhythms in modern interpretations. I am sorry track 6 has
some hiss in the background, you must realise it is over 40 yrs. old.
Nevertheless, happy listening to yall, get it before it’s gone..

    tracks;

1   Bembeya Jazz National – Waraba

    Pablo, front

Hello good evening, it is time for lovers of Congolese music
tonight. It has been a while but this lp will surely make up
for the hiatus. Pablo Lubadika wrote some swell tracks in
his time and the tunes we play today add up to the justly
expectations as such. With the participation of Dizzy
Mandjeku and the vocals of Asi Kapela,
    sweet hornsection, an album I
couldn’t resist, can you ? You
know the drill, do not wait,
Get it & Spread it !

    tracks;

    1 Y’a plus confiance
    2 Igalios
    3 Yie ya mobali

    Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe, front

Hello Groovers, it’s been a week or four since my last post,
I’ve been on a trip to Brazil and came back home this week.
The work on the new and improved GG takes more time than
expected and my motivation to continue making the old page
has decreased considerably. Of course I’ll keep making some
posts from time to time, here’s an album by an artist quite a lot
of people like. Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe made a huge pile
of lp’s and this one is number eleven on this blog if I’m not mis-
taking. Mellow Nigerian highlife, ideal for your quiet sunday
afternoon. While away I received loads of requests to
re-upload lp’s that have dead links. You folks will all
really have to wait till the new page is launched.
All the older files shall be available again.
Hang on a bit more and you’ll be happy,
    that’s a promise, thanks for
    your patience.

    tracks;

    1   Onye lusia olie
    2   Uwa bu ofumbia

    K.K.'s No. 2, front

The last post with C.K. Mann told us he started out with
K.K.’s No. 2. I thought it would be appropriate to post one
of their lp’s. This one is from 1979 and probably without C.K.
Nevertheless, this is a very enjoyable album. Listen to
Heavy Mama and make up your own mind, great stuff.

    tracks;

    1   Heavy mama
    2   Tua na woho nkom

    C.K. Mann, front

We had them before, C.K. Mann and his buddy Kofi
Yankson. This time with their group ‘Carousel 7’. The
previous album found quite some satisfied listeners
so I guess this one also will. Ghanaian highlife is one
of the genres to find loads of happy visitors here.

    La Sonora Cordobesa, front

Dear music collectors, vinyl hunters and lovers of tropical
sounds, as some of you may know, I am a fanatic hunter
for all types of lp’s from the old days. As such I tend to
visit the biggest recordfairs we have around, like the one
in Utrecht twice a year. On the last few visits I have met
with the guys from Vintage Voudou. It is a tiny recordshop
in the heart of the Amsterdam redlight-district. You have
to know where to look, right between the windows where
various women offer themselves you’ll find a gate, ring a
bell and go through a small corridor to find two very small
recordshops. One of them is Vintage Voudou, the adress
is Oudekerkplein 26a, only on thursday, friday and satur-
day you’ll find them open. When I got there I met with Alex,
one of the owners, we sat down and had a huge conversation
about our favourite music. I found lots of Colombian albums
at his place, really wonderful. We listened to the music,
smoked a few pipes and spent some hours like that. Alex
then gave me the number of another friend, he told me to
check out the records of Sanjay Agarwal. Sanjay is the man,
he travells to Colombia a lot, meets with the artists and made
a documentary about Colombian music, take a look at the
trailer of his documentary called Colombian Gold.

A few days ago I payed Sanjay a visit in his Amsterdam appartment
and we had a great afternoon listening to lots of Colombian music,
talking about it and some of the hottest Colombian stuff changed of
owner that day. For those who live close to Amsterdam, on saturday
may 18th Alex is going to deejay a Latin-night at Blijburg, a very hip
joint in the Zeeburg area of Amsterdam. Since his buddy Sanjay can’t
make it to join him, I offered to step in, so if you see a chance, pop by
and come have a dance and a drink. Take a look at Blijburg It will be
an evening of latin music, strictly from vinyl, it starts at 22.00 hrs. Be there !
The lp I am posting is one I found at Vintage Voudou and was imported
by Sanjay. One of my favourite groups is absolutely la Sonora Cordobesa,
listen to this lp and agree, sweet porro, jalaito, paseaito and mapalé
you don’t want to miss, get it & spread it !

    tracks;

    1 Jalaito en monteria
    2 El loriquero

not yet in the opportunity to launch the new and independent GG,
other work ( the one that keeps things running ) keeps coming in
