About the fifteenth album by these guys at the GG. In a little
while they’ll all be having working links again, but for now..
A bit dusty but nevertheless one more Oriental Brothers lp
which we can’t get enough to my humble opinion. Listen
to this 1984 ‘Ndi Ji Ego’ and get the taste already,
get it & spread it..tracks;

Amakye Dede began his career when he joined the Kumapim
Royals as a composer and vocalist. He formed the Apollo Kings
around 1980. He moved to Nigeria and dominated the highlife
scene during 80’s and 90’s. With almost 20 albums to his credit
he now owns a bar in Accra where he helps celebrate live-band
music. Listen to this lp and agree, this ’88 highlife is hot..tracks;

Hello world, it is saturday morning this 9th of march,
spring is not there yet and that shows. Rain, rain and
more rain is pouring from the sky. Winter took far too
long to pass this year and we’re all glad temperatures
are rising slowly, we’re not there yet but it gets better.
The best we can do is take an advance on summer by
listening to some warm soukous for instance. Bopol
Mansiamina is the man I have in mind and he’s back
with this album on which we find some of the finest
artists. On guitars next to Bopol himself we’ve got
Lokassa ya M’bongo and Dally Kimoko. On bass
it’s Bopol once more and he’s also taking care of
vocals with Wuta May, Ballou and Jean Papy.
Denis Hekimian on drums, nothing can go
wrong here. In the mean time we’re
making good progress with the
new and improved GG..
Hang in there a
bit more..tracks;

Good morning, on this fine saturday we’ve got you some
highlife from Ghana. The lp we have here ,’Stars of Ghana’,
was released in Nigeria on ‘Blackspot’, appearantly a division
of Decca West Africa. It contains several Ghanaian artists and
I think it’s a swell compilation. The lp is from 1980 and has some
minor noises, not too much. From the groups presented are some
we know from other projects in the past. Openings are taken
care of by the Royal Brothers Band, they kick off with some
of the finest highlifes. Get it, spread it and enjoy..tracks;

For today’s post we’ve got us an old Kenyan lp. It’s from
1972 and soundquality is not the best, the music however is.
Shirati Luo Voice Jazz was their name in those days and
their leader was none less than D.O. Misiani who we know
from his later work with “Shirati Jazz”. The cover you see I
found online, my copy came in a wrong cover unfortunately.
Nevertheless, even with cracks, pops and hiss,
I guess it’s worth a couple of spins..
Get it and spread it..tracks;
