Another very lucky find on my last recordhunt was this Ray Barretto.
It’s cover was in vey bad condition but the LP was still in
surprisingly well state. One spin was enough to know, topmaterial
from the Fania Family. Check it.

that must be the reason of this release.

We’re Back on the World Music Track !
One of the Biggest names, if we speak about Brazilian composers, is
without any doubt, ‘Noël Rosa’.
This little album, with only 8 tracks, is from the famous series
‘Nova História de la Música Popular Brasileira’.
It contains various interpretations of Noël Rosa’s work.
On track #6, we hear the master himself, together with Marília Batista.
Very nice is also Maria Bethania’s version of ‘Trés Apitos’.

Today I want to introduce something new at Global Groove.
Global Groove’s Sunday Special, every week I’ll do something else.
This week I want to show you three pop albums from the 70’s, that
I used to play a lot, and of which I like the covers extremely much.
All 3 make me have nostalgic feelings hearing them again
after quite some time.

This is an old personal favourite, my friends and I played it a hell of
a lot those days. I always loved this cover.

Ever since I heard this album for the very first time, I loved it !
Everything about this LP is ‘art’. It’s poetic, subtle and played
fantasticly well. And how about that Cover ? A number One !

To close off this productive day, a sweet piece of Samba.
I had a great day, ripping all this nice music, I hope you did
too, listening to it. ‘Paulinho da Viola’ delivers an album
like no other. A bit sentimental but very decent I ‘d say.

started to change, Lord Kitchener did not stay behind.

When I visited one of my favourite recordstores in old Amsterdam
last week, I found me this Fania Lp. Larry Harlow was one of the loyal
members of the Fania crew, and wrote a lot of fine songs.
Vocals by Ismael Miranda, Felo Brito, Vicky and Larry Harlow himself.

Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn on bass
and Al Jackson Jr. on drums, this is a fantastic recording.
