Good morning groovers, what have we got for you today ?
An album with Kilola Salaïka on which we could use some info.
This record was made in Côte d’Ivoire with Orchestre T.P. Poly-
Rythmo. I have seen Kilola Salaïka’s name as Amiral Kilola
Salaïka as a former member of Orchestre Lipua-Lipua in the
video below, and on Innovation vol. 8 with Nyboma & Bovi. I
can be wrong, but I think I hear him singing in Lingala. So,
is Kilola Salaïka Congolese ? He operated from Côte d’Ivoire
on Editions Sodogil. Can anyone shine a
light on this matter please ..
Dus, is Kilola Salaïka Congolees ? Hij opereerde vanuit Côte
d’Ivoire en op Editions Sodogil. Kan iemand deze kwestie
ophelderen alsjeblieft .. ?01 – Ebandakala (la souffrance)

As I was told by Leon somewhere in the past, Les Loups
Noirs were known for being one of the most versatile groups
from the Mini-Jazz era. They were most notable in the variety
of textures they used in their arrangements, often switching
roles between solo and accompaniment among the electric
organ, guitar and saxophone. To this day guitarist/bassist
Laurent Ciceron remains one of the authorities on traditional
styles and continues to develop creative ways to authentically
integrate them with contemporary styles. It should also be noted
that, while it isn’t always reflected in the recordings of this era,
most ensembles were expected to play a variety of styles at
the ‘balls’ (dance parties), an evening was not considered
complete without a few boleros, merengues, son montunos,
R&B, or even a selection of ska or calypso
or two thrown into the mix ..Une Coupe Pour Un Disque 1976

Today, dear visitors, you may find a record with Orchestre Lipua-Lipua
that was sent to us by Peter, called Bavon Marie Marie by his friends.
We had volume 1 and now we also have volume 2. A very nice contribution
and a very welcome addition to the small amount of records with this
wonderful band. We thank Peter for his work and generosity.
Wij hadden reeds
het eerste volume, dit is dus volume 2. Een zeer welkome toevoeging aan onze
kleine collectie platen met deze geweldige band. We danken Peter voor zijn
werk en vrijgevigheid. Luister weer met plezier ..Editions Vévé 1974

Do you remember Morgan Blanco, we had three albums
with him and several collectors on which he appeared.
Always joyful to listen to his accordion and voice. On
this album he was accompanied by Los Melódicos Junior.
He used to play the accordion for José Maria Peñaranda,
Alci Acosta, Daniel Santos and Pacho Galan.

months ago, age 85.Wikipedia

I found my copy only with a standard Essiebons sleeve.
The original frontsleeve here was taken from Discogs.
Unfortunately we have no back sleeve today.
It is from 1975 and displays some sweet highlife
songs and medleys. We had another four of his
albums which you may find below . Enjoy this

On request, today we find special music from Japan.
Michio Miyagi was a famous koto player who lived
from april 7, 1894 to june 25, 1956. We find this 10″
record on Victor, His Master’s Voice, LR-520 from 1958.
Michio Miyagi was blind from his eighth year. Since all
liner notes come in Japanese, I used the Shazam-app
to find the titles of this little album. Only the fourth
came out without result. Listen to Michio Miyagi ..Wikipedia

These mainly instrumental cumbia’s are from way back
around 1966 or so, after over half a century they are still
a joy to listen to .. According to Discogs the title of this album
is Cositas Colombianas, like mentioned on the back sleeve.
The front sleeve speaks of Cumbia Bonita after the tenth
song. Discogs is probably right since other records are titled
Cositas Colombianas vol 2, 3 etcetera. I reckon this is
a fine piece of easy going music for your easy
sunday afternoon, a little free
heten Cositas Colombianas vol. 2,3 etcetera. I gok dat je deze
sound wel kunt waarderen op je luie zondag middag.

This is the last album I have with the African Brothers
that wasn’t posted here yet. I saved one of the finest
for last for you to cherish and enjoy ..“Nana Kwame Ampadu I and his ‘Peoples’ African Brothers
Band International of Ghana were performing side by side
with an Afro Rock Group, in London at the spacious Mecca
Ball Room Hall during their UK tour in the later part of 1973.
The hall was packed tight. The dance was captioned “Ghana
meet U.K.” After the dance which lasted six groovy hours, a
top Disc Jockey from B.B.C. African Service walked to the
virtuoso musician, Nana Kwame Ampadu I.
“Youngman”, he said, “I am really impressed by your artistic
performance. It was a real kick. Congratulations. What about
featuring on my program?” He demanded. “It’s alright
and thanks a lot Mister”. Nana Ampadu said cheerfully. “By
the way, why do you choose to play almost all the popular
and space-age tempos?” The Disc Jockey asked. “Brother,
you know what, our audience are greedy sort of people.
They are never satisfied until you have sucked to them all
what they want. In Ghana, you cannot just walk to a dance
hall and play one tempo and go away. You will receive spanks
from the angry fans. We always have to satisfy all”.
Nana Ampadu explained. Nana Ampadu’s explanation was
manifested in this album “odo Paa Nie”. This album is a
mixture of popular and space-age tempos and melodies
especially selected to satisfy the
greedy audience. (liner notes)01 – Hwe nna
