I first posted this album eleven years ago, in june 2009.
Recording it then, I skipped a small part of the beginning
of track one. About time to do it again and this time better.
The pictures were also made too dark that first time. Sam
Mangwana & the African All Stars deserve to appear on
their very best. I think this is one of the best Congolese
bands ever, with guitar greats Dizzy Mandjekou. Lokassa
ya Mbongo, Syran mbenza, Bopol Mansiamina and Pablo
Lubadika Porthos it stands like a house. This album was
recorded in 1979 on Albarika Store and recorded at EMI
studio , Lagos, Nigeria. The music is in fact Congolese but
being recorded in West-Africa it has a more uptempo
Nigerian-like sound with certain highlife elements.

Ik heb deze plaat aanvankelijk elf jaar geleden gepost,
in juni 2009. Tijdens het opnemen heb ik toen een stukje
aan het begin van het eerste nummer overgeslagen. Hoog
tijd dus om dit eens overnieuw te doen, en nu wel goed. De
foto’s van de hoes waren toen ook iets te donker. Sam Mang-
wana & the African All Stars verdienen het als geen ander om
optimaal uit de bus te komen. Ik vind dat dit een van de beste
Congolese bands ooit is. Met gitaar vituosen als Dizzy Mand-
jekou, Lokassa ya Mbongo, Syran Mbenza, Bopol Mansiamina
en Pablo Lubadika Porthos staat deze band als een huis. Dit
album is uitgebracht op Albarika Store en opgenomen in de
EMI studio’s in Lagos, Nigeria. de muziek is feitelijk Congolees
maar opgenomen in West-Afrika heeft het een snellere
Nigeriaans geörienteerde sound met zekere highlife
invloeden. Luister en huiver, down en deel als altijd ..

We hadden één plaat met General Bolivia Osigbemhe and the
Great Santanas. Deze herdenkings band wordt geleid door twee
jongens met dezelfde achternaam, wellicht zijn zoons. Ik kon er
online niets over vinden. Misschien iemand van jullie. Hoe dan
ook, prettig Etsakor Afenmai album, mis hem niet ..

We had us one record with Bolivia Osigbemhe and the Great
Santanas. This memorial Band is led by two boys with the same
last name, maybe his sons. Online I couldn’t find anything on the
topic, perhaps one of you. One way or the other, another nice
Etsakor Afenmai album, don’t miss it ..

Dit is zo’n plaat waarop de nummers elkaar bijna naadloos
opvolgen. Het is dan heel lastig ze te scheiden zonder fouten
te maken. Ik kies er daarom maar voor er één take per kant
van te maken. Het is er weer eentje uit mijn favoriete muziek
jaar, 1973. Ook deze mag er zijn, de compas dendert heerlijk
aan één stuk door, ideaal voor je zomer festiviteiten. Luister
naar les Shleu-Shleu en geef ‘m door aan je vrienden ..

This is the type of record on which the songs run over in one
another without pauze. It becomes a pain to divide them so
I choose to record the album making one take per side. It is
an elpee from my favourite music year, 1973 and once again
a jewell. The compas goes on without hesitation, ideal for
your summer evening party. Listen to les Shleu-Shleu and
pass it on to your friends ..

Gregory’s first album was released in 1974 on Alvin Ranglin’s
GG label. Funny coïncidence, wonder what it stands for. This
record contains ‘Love Over Due’ which was Gregory’s first

Backed by the great Roots Radics and from 1982 we’ve
got this superb record with the late master singer Gregory
Isaacs. We had us some of his albums but there are still
some important releases to be posted. Let’s do a few,
starting with ‘Night Nurse’. Gregory’s lovers rock stood
out and still stands. Unmatched sound with Radics
Errol ‘Flabba’ Holt, Eric ‘Bingy Bunny’ Lamont, ‘Style’

Goede morgen, het was even wat rommelig allemaal.
Vier maanden posts verdwenen maar we zijn weer terug
op de stand van eind mei voordat dit gebeurde. Alle platen
gere-post. De teksten en commentaren zijn we kwijt maar
de muziek, waar het om draait, is weer beschikbaar. Eens
zien, wat heb ik vandaag bedacht .. Een oude Braziliaanse
file uit de map getrokken. Ik was met een Bossa Nova
playlist bezig en vond hem interessant. Ik weet niets
zinnigs te zeggen over Eduardo Gudin, deze plaat
bevat bossa nova en samba. zoet en zout ..

Good morning, it has been a little messy here the past week.
Four months of posts gone but we are back on track. I have
re-posted all that was lost, not the texts and comments but
the most important, the music, is available again. Let’s see
what we have today .. An old file from the Brazil section.
I was making a Bossa Nova playlist and found this one kind
of interesting. I don’t know much about Eduardo Gudin,
this album contains some bossa nova and some samba.
