I was asked for Best of the Dark City Sisters and thought, but
that album was posted years ago. Once again an album that
used to be here has disappeared. Nowadays we have our own
dedicated server so once the record is here, it is here to stay.

Ik was vanmorgen wat aan het rondneuzen in een bepaalde
sectie van de collectie en vond deze verzameling electronische
klanken op de plank. Een van mijn vrienden heeft hem ooit eens
voor me gemaakt maar, oh schande, ik weet niet meer wie het was.
Zo veel muziek enzo veel mensen om ons heen, dat gebeurt gewoon.
Als jij de maker bent van dit werk, trek dan vooral even aan de bel
en pak die credits. Ik heb hem voorzien van een kleurrijk hoesje
en post ‘m vandaag. Tenslotte is variatie wat ons gaande houdt.

I was going through a certain cd section today and found this
collection of easy electronic sounds on the shelf. One of my
friends once made it for me but, shame on me, I can’t remem-
ber who it was. So much music and so many people in one’s
life, it happens. If you find this and think, hey, that’s my comp,
please don’t hesitate and give a shout. I made some artwork
to go with it and bring it to you today ’cause variation is what

Het was in december 2011 dat ik een verzamelaar maakte met
uitsluitend liedjes van exact drie minuten. Een aardige formule
die naar mijn mening opvolging verdiende. Vandaag verwen ik je met
maarliefst twee opvolgers, volumes twee en drie. Ik had al veel
plezier ze samen te stellen. Hopelijk beleef jij net zoveel ple-

It was in december 2011 that I made a collector with strictly songs
of exactly three minutes. A nice formula that deserved to be fol-
lowed up. Today I spoil you with two followers-up in one time,

We had a couple of nice albums with Boy Dap from Curaçao.
This one contains one cheap weepie and eight salsa songs.
Just throw away song #2 and you’ll be good ..

Tot nu toe hadden we een paar prima platen met Boy Dap uit
Curaçao. Deze bevat een vreselijke smartlap en acht salsa tracks.
Je hoeft slecht het tweede nummer weg te gooien en het zit goed ..

On Disques Vogue, probably from the sixties, we find this CMDINT 9577.
It is the very last one listed at their Discogs discography without year of
release. Ry-Co comes from Rythmes Congolais and was initiated in 1958.
Based in Martinique from 1966 to about 1971. Their records are kind of
hard to come by. Radio Martiko re-released one of their albums in 2018.

Op Disques Vogue , waarschijnlijk uit de 60’s, vinden we CMDINT 9577.
Het is de allerlaatste in het rijtje van Discogs dicografie zonder jaar van
uitgave. Ry-Co komt van Rythmes Congolais en werd opgericht in 1958.
Werkend vanuit Martinique van 1966 tot zo’n beetje 1971. Hun platen
zijn tamelijk moeilijk te vinden en gaan voor flinke prijzen op het web.
Radio Martiko uit België heeft in 2018 een van
hun albums her- uit gegeven.

Hi groovers, so we had us two albums with singer Ryco from Guadeloupe.
Today we have a record with M’Bilia Casino who used to take part in Ry-Co
Jazz, something totally different. Ry-Co or Ryco Jazz a was founded in Congo
in 1858/59 by Henri Bowane. They spent four years in Martinique where their
music was very popular. After returning in Africa in 1971 the group split up.
Members like saxophone player Jean Serge Essous and others each went their
own way. M’Bilia Casino made this album in 1976. It contains styles like rumba
biguine, bolero and merengue. Enjoy listening ..

Hee groevers, we hadden dus twee platen met zanger Ryco uit Guadeloupe
gisteren en eergisteren. Vandaag een plaat met M’Bilia Casino die deel uit-
maakte van Ry-Co Jazz, iets heel anders. Ry-Co of Ryco Jazz werd opgericht
door Henri Bowane in 1958/59. Ze verbleven vier jaar in Martinique en na
terugkeer in Africa in 1971 ging de groep uit elkaar. Leden als saxofonist
Jean Serge Essous en anderen gingen ieder hun eigen weg. M’Bilia Casino
maakte dit album in 1976. Hij bevat nummers in stijlen als rumba, biguine,
bolero en merengue. Veel luister plezier weer ..

A colossal succes this album was called in the liner notes of yesterday’s
post. This is Super Combo from Guadeloupe. Trumpeteer Elie Bianay
is the man who wrote all the songs on this album. We also find an Abidos
with Super Combo. Is it the same person as Hiver Abidos from Typical Combo?
If you know please tell us. Singer Ryco is also present on this
record. Another pearl from the West Indies ..

Een colossaal succes werd deze plaat genoemd in de liner notes
van de gisteren geplaatste elpee. Dit is Super Combo uit Guadeloupe.
Trompettist Elie Bianay is de man die alle nummers schreef. We vinden
ook een Abidos bij Super Combo. Zou dit dezelfde zijn als Hiver Abidos
van Typical Combo? Wie het weet mag het zeggen. Zanger Ryco is hier
ook van de partij. Een pareltje uit de West Indies ..

Op onze voortdurende muzikale ontdekkingsreis komen we vandaag
weer aan op het eiland Guadeloupe. Eigenlijk bestaat Guadeloupe uit
twee eilanden, Basse-Terre en Grande-Terre die worden gescheiden
door een smalle zeestraat. De biguine en cadence-rempa die er van-
daan komen zouden mij in de jaren hebben getrokken als ik oud genoeg
was geweest het te beseffen. Deze plaat is uit 1976, ik was toen 18
en wist niets van biguine of cadence.

Wat hebben we hier ? Ryco was de zanger van Super Combo. (Er was
ook een Super Combo de Nemours Jean-Baptiste uit Haïti maar dat was
dus een andere band) Hij bracht voor deze gelegenheid muzikanten
bijeen van o.a. Super Combo, Les Aiglons, Typical Combo, Maxel’s en
meer. Onder de naam Combo Supérieur maakten ze dit album in 1976.
We zien bijvoorbeeld Daniel Dimba van wie we ook al eens een plaat
hadden. Ryco lijkt op Ryco Jazz maar heeft daar dus niets mee van
doen. Ik kom daar op terug, voor nu luisteren we naar
dit mooie album op Disques Debs..

On our everlasting musical voyage of discovery, today we arrive on the
island of Guadeloupe once again. In fact Guadeloupe exists of two islands,
Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre. The biguine and cadence-rempa from there
would have pulled me towards Guadeloupe in those days if I was old enough.
This album is from 1976, I was 18 then and knew nothing about
biguine or cadence.

What do we have here ? Ryco was the singer of Super Combo. (there was
also a Super Combo de Nemours Jean-Baptiste from Haïti but that was another
group) He brought together a bunch of musicians from bands like Super Combo,
Les Aiglons, Typical Combo, Maxel’s and more for the opportunity. They made
this album in 1976 under the name Combo Supérieur. We find Daniel Dimba for
instance of whom we also had an album before. Ryco sounds like Ryco Jazz but
doesn’t have anything to do with it. I’ll get back on the topic, for now let’s
listen to this nice record on Disques Debs..
