jonah Moyo & Devera Ngwena’s sound is zo sprankelend
en als je van een dansje houdt kun je echt er niet omheen.
Het is dan ook altijd een feest weer een van zijn platen te
vinden. Afgelopen week in Amsterdam vond ik deze. Zeer
lekker stukje jit uit Zibabwe, luister en huiver..

Jonah Moyo & Devera Ngwena’s sound is so sparkling and
hot, if you like to dance there’s no way around it. Always
a wonderful moment to find another of his records so
when I found this one in Amsterdam last week it made
me very happy. Get it and spread it..

Vandaag weer eens iets tamelijk bijzonders. Deze plaat is
zogezegd ‘ungoogleable’, alleen na diep graven vindt je er
iets over. Op Pathé / EMI en uit welk jaar is niet duidelijk.
Een boeiende verzameling liedjes met Sam Mangwana
en diverse andere artiesten. Een enkele track is reeds
eerder gepasseerd maar de meeste nog niet op deze
pagina. Luister en geniet van ‘Place aux Jeunes’.

Today we’ve got us something rather special. This record
is so to speak ‘ungoogleable’, only when digging deep we
find a little something about it. On Pathé / EMI and from
what year remains unclear. An exciting collection of songs
with Sam Mangwana and several others. One or two tracks
have passed by earlier but most of them are here first time.

Hier hebben we nog zo’n pracht plaat op SAR en geproduceerd
door Roberto Torres. Monguito ‘el Unico’ is een van de mannen
die er vanaf het begin bij waren. Toen de son montuno net was
uitgevonden door de grote Arsenio Rodriguez was Monguito al
op zijn album ‘Primitivo’ te horen. Één van de meest gedownloade
elpees op deze pagina overigens. Arsenio heeft helaas niet meer
kunnen meemaken hoe groot zijn creatie later nog zou worden.
De grote meester overleed eind 1970. Monguito maakte nog
vele platen, luister naar ‘Yo No Soy Mentiroso’.

Today we’ve got us another wonderful album on SAR and produced
by Roberto Torres. Monguito ‘el Unico’ is one of the guys who were
there from the very beginning . When the great Arsenio Rodriguez
had just invented ‘Son Montuno’, Monguito was already there and
participated on ‘Primitivo’, one of the most downloaded albums at
this page by the way. Arsenio didn’t live to know how big his sound
became in a later stage unfortunately, he died in 1970. Monguito
made a bunch of records later, listen to ‘Yo No Soy mentiroso’.

Efrain Gonzalez was hier al eerder maar na het beluisteren van
beide platen slaat de twijfel toe. Is dit wel dezelfde Efrain Gonzalez ?
Zoveel zullen er niet met deze aparte naam rondlopen maar de sound
is zo anders op dit album dan op het vorige.. Hoe dan ook, hier is de
Cubaanse tres het instrument van zijn keuze en hij brengt er een scala
aan stijlen mee, het beluisteren meer dan waard..

Efrain Gonzalez was here before. However, after hearing both albums
one doubts if this is the same Efrain Gonzalez. There can’t be that many
guys with the same name, would you think ? The sound of this album is
so different from the previous.. One way or the other, on this record
Efrain plays the Cuban tres and brings us a choice of styles,
at least worth a couple of spins..
