I was asked to post some Pierre Labor for our friend Thierry,
unfortunately I do not own any of his albums, who knows what
the future will bring. Just a little bit up his alley, today we’ve got
another record by Les leopards de St. Pierre. They already found
quite some fans here at the Global Groove. Find their other elpees
using our search-bar at your left hand side. This one is from 1978
and rocks like any other album they made. Hot stuff from Martinique.

Een van onze blogvrienden, Thierry, vroeg om een plaatje van Pierre
Labor. Helaas heb ik er geen maar wie weet wat de toekomst ons zal
brengen. Enigszins in zijn straatje hebben we vandaag wel een mooi
elpeetje van Les Leopards de St. Pierre. Ze vonden al eerder veel gretige
aftrek hier op de Global Groove. Deze is uit 1978 en doet het goed. Als je

Dit is lekker stevige cadence uit Martinique, laat hem je weer smaken..

An oldie from Guadeloupe 1968 today. Les Vikings play several styles
on this album, Cadence Rampa, Tumbélé and Compas among others.
Mostly instrumental but with some vocal parts here and there.
Sweet summer atmosphere that makes us very happy..

Vandaag een oudje uit 1968 Guadeloupe. Les Vikings spelen hier
diverse stijlen, Cadence Rampa, Tumbélé en Compas oneder andere.
Grotendeels instrumentaal maar ook wel wat vokale flarden zo hier en
daar. lekker zomers spul waar we blij van worden..

Today thousands of Dutch are going on vacation, high summer.
I myself am staying nicely at home, if you don’t have schoolgoing
kids you must be crazy to go away now. Better to take holidays in
winter, spring or fall when the weather is far worse I’d say. One
way or the other, with the cadence of Las Aiglons from Guadeloupe
it is always summer. This record is from 1975, get it & spread it..

Vandaag is er weer een grote groep Nederlanders met vakantie
gegaan. Zelf blijf ik fijn thuis, als je geen schoolgaande kinderen
hebt zou je toch wel gek zijn om midden in de zomer weg te gaan.
Beter in voor- en/of najaar als het weer stukken slechter is lijkt mij.
Weer of geen weer, met de cadence van Les Aiglons uit Guadeloupe
is het altijd zomer. Deze is uit 1975 en rammelt er weer lekker op los.

Onlangs kocht ik een elpee van Michel Nerplat maar bij nader
inzien bleek er een van zijn broer Gérard Nerplat in de hoes te
zitten waar Michel overigens wel de saxofoon op speelt. Een
verrassing alles tezamen want het is een heerlijke plaat. Uit
Guadeloupe en met heel fijne ritmes, cadence om te smullen.
De goede hoes heb ik dus maar van het web af gehaald..

Recently I bought an album by Michel Nerplat but listening to
it I found it contains a record by his brother Gérard Nerplat on
which Michel does play the saxophone. A pleasant surprise all
together for it concerns a great piece of music from Guadeloupe
with tremendous rhythms, nice vocals, wonderful cadence.
I found the correct frontsleeve on the web, sorry, no back..

Mijn oude vriend Rémi was van de week over uit Frankrijk en
bracht een partijtje Cadence, Biguine en Compas mee. Hier de
eerste bijdrage uit die batch. Uit Guadeloupe stamt deze schijf
met heerlijke cadence uit 1978. Lekkere dansmuziek zoals hier
te doen gebruikelijk, luister en heupwieg je huiskamer door..

My old buddy Rémi came over from France past week and
brought along some nice Cadence, Biguine and Compas. This
is the first contribution from that pile. from Guadeloupe we
have this 1978 disc with sweet cadence on the DebS label.
Very Danceable stuff like you use to find here, give it a try..

Van de Franse Antillen komen deze twee bands. Les Leopards en

rumba en tumbele, mazurka en rempa doen ze ook. Vandaag in

You are right Tim, I promised the other les Léopards so
here it is. It has plenty variation in styles like the other
one. Pingouin, cadence, bolero, biguine, compas, rempa
and mazurka take turns on this one. I couldn’t find a year
of release, if anybody knows please tell us too.

Records by Les Leopards are quite hard to find, I got
lucky at the fair and found two. From Martinique and
containing various styles, this album is very pleasant.
Mazurka, cadence, reggae, calypso and biguine, this
one’s got it all, listen and make up your own mind..
