In 1961, saxophonist Jerry Hansen stole some musicians from
the Black Beats and formed his Ramblers International. For some
20 years they dominated the Ghana highlife scene, Jerry Hansen
junior led the band in their late days. On this 1976 LP we find
songs by Ampadu, Donkor, Oppong, famous names in highlife-land.tracks;

I am always thrilled to find any project on which the great ‘Eric Agyemang’
performs, I am a big fan of his guitarwork. If vocals are taken care of by
‘Thomas Frimpong’ and it concerns an LP of Dr. K. Gyasi’s Noble Kings,
my day is made completely. This is to my humble opinion the finest highlife
you can find. From Ghana’s 1975, sweet stuff.tracks;

Good afternoon groovers worldwide, summer is now really coming to an
end in the Netherlands. It was long and sunny but autumn is breaking
through. To keep that warm feeling, we learned a couple of tricks like
playing tropical musictypes. Today’s choice is an album by Nigerian hero,
Oliver de Coque. One of the last ones to make old fashioned Nigerian Highlife.
On his covers he used to appear dressed quite extravagant but on this one
he and his wife keep it simply white. If you want it, do not hesitate.
Rapidshare is going to change some rules in october. Files that are not
downloaded for 90 days will disappear in the future. Better take a good
look around here at the GG. I am not sure yet how I’m gonna solve this
new little problem so please tell your friends to come visit us and keep
our files alive by sucking them in. Enjoy.tracks;
1 My woman
– Togetherness
2 Ochichi Nigeria
– Chukwu gozie obodo anyi NigeriaPosted by Moosat 11:44 AMCategories

Although this cover looks very vague and worn out, we got us a real
nice gem here. The more I regret to tell you, track number 2 opens with
a disturbing hiss. I washed it several times and it looks clean but still.
Class A Highlife nevertheless, you wouldn’t want to miss.tracks;
1 Araba Lucy
2 Adjoa nyarko
3 Eye Akwantu
4 Abortion
5 Ase do woPosted by Moosat 2:45 PMCategories

If we speak of Juju, we think of King Sunny Adé or Chief Ebenezer Obey.
Admiral Dele Abiodun is quite famous too but have you heard of Femi
Akinyemi’s Juju Lucky Stars ? I never had untill I found this here album.
I can’t find any information on the web about Femi. He’s from the urban
Yoruba scene in Lagos and it rocks like crazy. The year of release is also
an unknown factor, late 70’s probably, can you tell us ? Listen to this
sweet melt of Afro-Beat, Highlife and Juju.tracks;
1 Egungun Riot 1976

This 33 year old album has an almost invisible cover, it wobbles and
whirls and wanders about ’cause the hole is not in the middle. Still,
even while sometimes false, a good listen worth. Sweet
highlife by the Oriental Brothers.tracks;
1 Murtala Mohammed
2 Nkwa pt. 1
3 Nwoke ezu-ike
