    Cesar Castro, voorkant

If you are into vallenato it is wise not to miss out on the works of
Cesar Castro. This record is called ‘the authentic and pure vallenato’
and that is exactly what you get here. Three of these tracks were on
the one other album by his hand we had at the GG in august last year,
the rest appears here first time. Decent material with Cesar’s
    powerful voice, get it now..

    titels ;

    01 – Yo quisera saber
    02 – Suspirando por ti
    03 – Si sigues indiferente
    04 – El mejor amigo
    05 – Me duele mucho
06 – Mi saludo al valle
    07 – La solterona

    Juan Polo Valencia, voorkant

Good morning, it is about time for some more vallenato and
thinking so I almost immediately thought of Juan Polo Valencia.
With his ripe and raw voice he is one of the artists I prefer on my
turning table. His music is maybe most suitable for the more
experienced listener but there is only one way to get there
so go listening to him rapidly, delightful material..

    titels ;

01 – El gallo de punta aguda
    02 – Niña mane
    03 – Amores de pacha
04 – Cuando tu te vayas
05 – El reflejo de tus ojos
    06 – La piñuela
    07 – Palomita de primavera
    08 – Juanita
    09 – Amores de contrabando
    10 – Siete de agosto
    11 – Lucero espiritual
    12 – Pivijay

Today’s record is specially for people like Pim and Glinka
but mostly for Rik. The first because he asked explicitly for one
with a girl in bikini at the frontsleeve. The second because it
is hightime to broaden his horizon and the third because he is
a lover of variety and listens to all kinds of music with pleasure
just like I do. Lucho Campillo and Policarpo Calle don’t just have
beautiful names, their group ‘el Conde y su Corte’ appears here
today with this delightful piece of Colombian porro and such.
Everything about this record is right, great sound, great voices
and a pretty girl on the frontsleeve to complete the picture.
Typical global groove topmaterial in short, get it and
    listen quickly, you won’t regret..

    01 – La negra petrona
02 – Fiestas de mi tierra
03 – Por el camino real

    Alonso Pedrozo, voorkant

in Colombiaanse traditie altijd af.

This little slice of vallenato was on the edge of being digitised
for months, today it finally found it’s new destination. The
world wide web to go short. Don’t you think Alonso looks
super hip ? On Fabuloso and from an unknown year of
release but with pretty girl this is the kind of record
that keeps me in a happy mood for days. I wonder,
does anybody over there in the US like it ?

    titels;

    01 – Maldito beso
    02 – Mi yatecito
    03 – El pollo cantor
    04 – Me quedare
05 – Adios en el puerto

    Calixto Ochoa, front

One of our visitors told me. On the 18th of november the world
lost one of the greatest in vallenato. He was one of the members
of Los Corraleros de Majagual and formed his own group later.
Calixto de jesús Ochoa died in a hospital in Sincelejo, Sucre,
Colombia age 81. He won the prestigeous Festival Vallenato
in 1970 and was responsable for quite some hits like ‘los
Sabanales’, ‘Mata’e Caña’, ‘el Mosquito’ and many others.
He was a gifted singer and acordeonist. I dug up this
record which contains eight songs by his hand.
    Enjoy and remember Calixto Ochoa.

    Pachito Rada, front

It was puzzeling me for some time now but after some
web search I finally found out what was already expected.
Francisco “Pachito” Rada Ortiz is the son of Francisco “Pacho”
Rada. It looked obvious but until now nobody could confirm.
Pachito’s album we have today is called ‘El Millionario’ while
we just saw the documentary in which became painfully clear
how poor his dad was. Rich or poor, it is all about the music.
Junior’s vocal quality reaches a little further than the old man’s.
Listen to el Millionario and be your own judge..

    tracks;

    01 – El millionario
    02 – El caballo liberal
    03 – El Oligarca
04 – El deseo de la mujer
    05 – El festival

    Pacho Rada, front

    El Acordeon del Diablo.
A couple of years ago I discovered this little film at Youtube.
The story of Francisco ‘Pacho’ Rada made an unforgettable
impression and ever since I’ve been trying to find his music.
Shortly my buddy Sanjay came back from Colombia and
brought back this album which pleased me enormously.
The story starts with this rumour, a German ship full of
acordeons was told to be wrecked at the Colombian coast.
It is said that this is how the acordeon landed up at the
atlantic coast of Colombia where earlier they had only
made music using strings, rhythm and flute or gaita.
I was struck by the passage in which the old Pacho Rada
tells about his poverty despite all the songs he wrote.
Songs that made guys like Alfredo Gutierrez very rich,
Alfredo’s face speaks for itself when listening to the
poor old man. Hope you can follow a little Spanish,
enjoy watching and listening..to Francisco el hombre.
By the way, it is still unclear to me if there’s a link
between the old Pacho Rada and Pachito Rada Ortiz.
    Check https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_el_Hombre
There is a lot of discussion going on about the true story,
one believes it, the other doesn’t, see for yourself..

    Francisco „Pacho“ Rada Bautista * 11 Mai 1907 in
Las Mulas Magdalena , † 17 July 2003 in Santa Marta.
He was told to be the originator of
    the ‘Vallenato’ we know today..

    01 – Sipote luto
