- Saturday August 10, 20134 comments on Chico Cervantes y su Conjunto Internacional En la Onda de Chico Cervantes, Caliente 1973
Caliente means hot, and hot it is ! This album from 1973 is sure
to get you in a dancing mood. With it’s infectious guaracha’s,
cumbia’s and paseaito’s it ain’t easy to remain seated. Chico
Cervantes appears first time at the GG today (part from one song)
and we’re proud to have him. Next to incredibly nice music it has
a typical and somewhat strange trippy sleeve, I love it. Another
sure thing is, if I deejay on somebody’s birthday party in the future,
the fifth track of this lp will pass by to make certain that happy
moment. Better don’t wait or hesitate…get on Chico’s wave
and tell your friends to go there too…tracks;

Did you enjoy that Colombian compilation I called ‘Cumbia Sabrosa’?
You can find it back on may 31, 2008, in our archives. It contained
that hot track, ‘Colombia tierra querida’. Lucho Bermudez was one of
the orchestral leaders that wrote history. Check out this album with
the traditional pretty lady cover. Gaita, porro, merengue, paseo,
cumbia and bolero by one of Colombia’s master composers.tracks

Part from some tracks on compilations, I do not use to post any
material from CD. This one by Guillermo Buitrago is an absolute
exeption. If I would not use it, it was impossible to post any
Buitrago. His LP’s, as far as they exist at all, are not to find.
I repost this album for several reasons. It contains songs for
december and new year, well our new year at the Global Groove
starts tomorrow. Part from that, this music is so delightful, I
truely don’t understand it didn’t get any response. I am crazy
about these songs. When I discovered this compilation, I wept
tears of happiness. Maybe it’s just me being foolish, but give
this one another chance and I’m sure you will not regret.tracks;

Today I thought I’d post us some Colombian music. ‘Navidad Negra’
which I addad as a bonustrack is a good example of music they
play in Colombia with Christmas. Pedro Laza is the man who wrote
lots of such songs. On ‘El güiro’ vocals by Daniel Santos, on ‘La
cosecha de mujeres’ vocals by José Maria Peñaranda.
On ‘Cumbia en el monte’ vocals by Pascual Rovira, on ‘Navidad Negra’
vocals by Tito Cortes. On ‘La calle 13’ and ‘La negra caliente’
vocals by Crescencio Gamacho.
As for me, I can play this type of music all year through, such
happy sound should be for always.tracks;

Here’s a post, especially interesting for it’s collector’s value, more then
for it’s musical value. ‘Los Millonarios’ played instrumental versions of
well known songs. For instance, ‘No me busques’ of ‘Los Corraleros
de Majagual’, or ‘El carretera’ of ‘Guillermo Portabales’. It gives an
impression of all the styles played in Colombian music. And as always,
‘Discos Fuentes’ brings a cover with a pretty girl. Check back cover
for style info. Attention : Track no. 1 jumps one time !tracks;
