Who would have thought a curfew would ever occur in
our modern society in the free world, not me. Since about
six weeks however we can’t go out after nine o’clock in the
evening. I am already quite tired of it. Not that I go out a lot
usually, but still, it is the fact you can’t choose to.

What have we got for you today ? I found this album from
1982 with brother Toyan on which we find the track ‘Curfew’.
I thought it would be appropriate to post it especially now.
Another record on which we find the item is the one with
Calypsonian ‘Kitch’, Lord Kitchener. I have added the link
below. Toyan appears with Sly, Robbie, Santa, Sticky, Rad
Bryan, Ansell Collins, Robin Lyn, Glady Anderson, Dean
and Madden. Topnotch reggae from Channel
    One, engineered by Scientist ..

ernaar hieronder geplaatst. Toyan verschijnt hier met Sly,
Robbie, Santa, Sticky, Rad Bryan, Ansell Collins, Robin Lyn,
Scientist ..

I think this must be my favourite Bunny Wailer album.
With the Roots Radics, Errol Flabba Holt, Style Scott,
Bingi Bunny and Steely but also guest starring Sly and
Robbie, K.Sterling, Dwight Pinckney and the horns by
Headly Bennett, Dean Fraser and R.Robinson. Six
very strong songs by master Bunny Wailer and
one written by Curtis Mayfield, ‘Another Dance’.
Recorded at Harry J. and Channel One studio’s.

    “Bunny Went to Dreamland”

Along his close friends Peter Tosh and Robert Nestor ‘Bob’ Marley,
Neville O’Riley Livingstone, Bunny Wailer, was the third member
of the original Wailers. Yesterday Bunny Wailer died in his native
Jamaica, age 73. He was the last surviving member of the legendary
group. To honor this man who was an important figure in Reggae
and Jamaican music, today we listen to his first solo album. Blackheart
Man was recorded in 1976. Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer would fre-
quently sing each other’s background vocals on their solo albums.
Neville Livingstone loved the Jamaican countryside. he had been
frequently hospitalised since suffering a stroke in 2020.
    R.I.P. Bunny. (thank you Sylvester)

Blackheart
Man werd opgenomen in 1976. Peter Tosh en Bunny Wailer zongen samen
de achtergrond vokalen op beider solo platen. Neville Livingstone hield
    R.I.P. Bunny.

Last week, february 17, the world has lost another great artist.
Various blogs have posted his records, check Holland Tunnel Dive
for instance. I choose for this 1990 compilation on Virgin Records.
It contains some of the most delightful of his songs. Many of these
were written by U-Roy and Duke Reid. Songs #’s 1,4,6,7,14,15 and 16
by John Holt. Let’s honour Ewart Beckford alias U-Roy forever ..
    (thank you Sylvester)

meest geweldige reggae artiesten.
Laten we Ewart

The nice summer weather of the last few days made me
wake up today with reggae on my mind. It resulted in the
ripping of this1985 compilation of d.j. songs brought to us
by Island. Just for the fun of it, listen ..

in m’n hoofd.

Richard Patrick Bennettt, better known as Charlie Chaplin
was called after the famous actor since he was young. Many
Jamaican deejays were called after film stars and such in a

Robbie, Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes, Roots Radics and others.
This album is from 1984 according to Discogs

Among the numerous Sly and Robbie productions we
find this 1981 album with singer Jimmy Riley. Been
playing it a whole lot of times in those days. Only just
took it from the shelf after so many years. Still great
to hear, typical Taxi sound with the rhythm twins.
Also starring; Rad Bryan, Mikey Chung, Sky Juice,
Robert Lyn, Ossie Hibbert, Ansel Collins, Tamlins,
Dean Frazer, Clive Hunt, Chico & Nambo. Don’t
you just love that frontsleeve .. ? It’s been
hidden in the GG’s header for many years.

From 1983 we’ve got this ultimate deejay toaster’s reggae
album with Brigadier Jerry live at the controls. The record
gives no information what so ever. Label and sleeve both
show the same few words, front- and backside. It sounds
so nice and pure as if you are there at Jack Ruby Sound
yourself. Even some mess up’s are left on the record.
Treasured it since it came out in 1983 ..

As many of you may know, we had us a bunch of records
on the marvelous On-U Sound label with amongst others
the mighty, ‘Voice of Thunder’, Prince Far I. Unfortunately
On-U Sound’s label manager summoned me to remove all
of their records. Fortunately however we still have some of
the Prince’s original records like this one on Joe Gibbs Records.
From 1977 and beautifully produced by Joe Gibbs, this is ‘Under
Heavy Manners’. I’d say get it and spread it like you’re used to ..
    (we’ve got the 1980 re-issue)

sommeerde On-U Sound’s label manager me al hun platen
Joe Gibbs Records. Uit 1977 en prachtig geproduceerd door
Joe Gibbs, is dit ‘Under Heavy Manners’. Ik zou zeggen,
Down, deel en luister wederom naar Prince far I ..
