Can’t seem to find a lot of info about Lita Branda, except
for the fact that she is from Peru.
The son she brings, produced by Roberto Torres is something
you can’t deny. The great cover artwork is ofcourse by
José Expósito.tracks;

On Laslos Records here’s an album by Miguel Quintana, we
have seen him doing background vocals on multiple occasion,
now this is one of his own records. The line-up on this LP is
almost the same as on Melcochita’s album I posted last week.
Melcochita is doing the Chorus here with José Mangual Jr..
This is Miguel Quintana, great voice, great music, listen.tracks;

Son is music from Cuba, but Melcochita takes us to a Colombian
village to preach it. With, Alfredito Valdéz jr., Mario
“papaíto” Muñoz, Mario Hernández, José Mangual and others.
Very sweet and sometimes funny Son.There’s something going on at the photoscene it appears.
If you take a close look, at first I didn’t notice, you don’t
see the guy without shirt’s left hand.
It looks like he is snatching Melcochita’s wallet.
His friend on the left is looking at it too. In the back,
under the tree, that guy’s eyes look guilty as hell, he
tries to keep his pokerface but he knows what’s going on,
same with the white hat, right side, his looks give him
away too. Now check photo number two, taken two seconds later.
He now shows the wallet behind Melcochita’s back to the white
hat. But this one signals with his right hand to keep it down.
The other guys now also see what’s going on.
Back at the hotel Melcochita finds out his wallet’s gone and
says to the photographer, “strange, some one took my wallet,
it couldn’t have been one of those friendly guys down town,
could it ?”tracks;

on another New York Latin label, Toboga. Monguito is called
‘El Unico’ for the unique sound of his voice. Check out one

My first encounter with Guillermo Portabales was in 1996, when
this_great_CD_came_out.
He was a unique performer of the ‘Guajira’, a rhythm that is halfway
between ‘Punto’ and ‘Son’. Born in 1911 in Cuba, Cienfuegos,
Guillermo was named the creator of ‘Guajira de Salon’ because he
added melodie and cadence and made it his own.
This album was recorded in 1970 in Puerto Rico with Los Guaracheros
de Oriente, also Cuban. Portabales settled in Puerto Rico and stayed
there until his untimely death on 25th October 1970.
He was hit by a car on leaving a gig at ‘La Palma’ restaurant,
he was 59 years old with a musical career spanning 42 years.For this once I had to do some colouring on the cover,
it has some ugly stickers and other damage.tracks;
