This past week we had some samba called ‘O Melhor em Samba’
by Os Bambas, Matata asked me if I could post the rest of the
series of which we had three. Unfortunately there are no others
available. From the same period however we do have this one.
A collector on the same Okeh label with some wonderful artists.
Samba in its purest form and also under the guidence of Zuzuca.
This album is from 1974 and in perfect condition ..

De afgelopen week hadden we een samba plaat met de titel
‘O Melhor em Samba’ van Os Bambas, volume 10. Matata vroeg
me toen de rest van de serie waarvan we er reeds drie hadden te
posten. Helaas zijn er geen andere delen beschikbaar, we hebben
daarentegen wel deze elpee. Uit de zelfde periode, op het zelfde
label en onder de zelfde leiding, namelijk die van Zuzuca. Hij is uit
1974 en bevat de meest pure samba, verkeert ook nog eens in
perfecte staat, een juweeltje voor de liefhebbers..

Anonymous asked me to post Chimurenga for Justice and
it just so happens it was still waiting to find its way to you.
We had some nine of his albums so far, Thomas’ Mapfumo
and his Blacks Unlimited have a sound like not many others.
This album is on the English Rough Trade label and from ’85.

for Justice. Toevallig had ik hem nog in de wacht staan dus hier

We found his work on several collectors, Alberto Pacheco
wrote some famous songs. On this record he performs with
Adán Montero, guacharaca and Rodolfo Castilla, caja. They
play songs by different composers. The album has a little
background noise but the songs are good. Various styles
like pilón, paseo, puya, and cumbión. Listen to

Bij wijze van uitzondering krijg je vandaag een copy van een ceedee.
Hij is uit 1982 en staat vol met Colombiaanse hits. In der tijd heb ik
Discos Fuentes eens gemaild om te vragen of ik hier in de buurt hun
releases zou kunnen vinden. Ik kreeg een vriendelijk mailtje terug met
de boodschap dat een klein zaakje nabij de Amsterdamse Dappermarkt
eens een flinke bestelling had gedaan. Ik vond daar een mooie rij Fuentes
cd’s. Geweldig leuk natuurlijk, bijna alles meegenomen. Dit is er één van.

Im making an exception today by posting the music from a ceedee.
It is from 1982 and contains a bunch of Colombian hits. Quite some
years ago I sent an email to Discos Fuentes to ask them if there would
be an adress somewhere nearby here where I could find their releases.
They kindly responded to tell me there was a tiny record store close
to the Amsterdam Dapper Market who once bought some of their
releases. I found a nice pile of cd’s there and bought the lot. very
nice off course. This is one of them, enjoy listening again..

Enigszins psychedelische Nigerianse highlife sound met de band
van Steady Arobby. Spreekt enorm tot de verbeelding. Als je
de foto op de achterkant van de plaat gelooft was hij ook in
Japan tamelijk populair. In elk geval zijn we er hier bij de Global
Groove in Nederland zeer van onder de indruk..luister..

Deep Nigerian highlife, kinda psychedelic sound, with Steady
Arobby’s band. Appeals enormously to the imagination. If you
believe the photo image on the back of the sleeve he was quite
popular in Japan as well. In any case we at the Global Groove
here in the Netherlands are extremely excited by it..listen..

Nog zo’n heerlijk stukje soukous met ‘la Voix Cassé’ van Dindo
Yogo. Uit 1987 en up up tempo dans materiaal. Bezoekers als
Harris en Tim, dit is er zo eentje voor jullie, meubels opzij
en laat je gaan. Veel dans plezier..

re-release from 1994. Trojan Records just celebrated its 50
years of existence with a great box of elpees and ceedees,

heeft juist haar 50 jarig bestaan gevierd met de uitgave van een

Oorspronkelijk uitgebracht in 1967, is dit de re-release uit 1983.
Franklin Boukaka vormde dit Sanza ( duimpiano ) duo in 1967 en
nam in Parijs samen met op saxofoon Jean Serge Essous en Or-
chestre Congolais deze nummers op. Het betreft hier een 45
toeren Maxi single met zes nummers. Korte maar krachtige
uitgave met o.a. Les Brazzavilloises, een lofzang over de
vrouwen uit Brazzaville. Nummer zes is een prachtig
instrumentaaltje met Jean Serge Essous op sax.
De Sanzas zijn Pierre Badinga
en Albert Mampouya..

Originally from 1967, this is its 1983 re-release. Franklin Boukaka
organized this ensemble of Sanza ( thumb piano ) in 1967 and with
Jean Serge Essous on Saxophone and Orchestre Congolais recorded
these songs in Paris. It concerns a 45 rpm Maxi single here with six
tracks. Short but wonderful record with the song Les Brazzavilloises,
a paean to the women of Brazzaville. Number six is a stunning
instrumental with Jean Serge Essous on sax.
