Japan tamelijk populair. In elk geval zijn we er hier bij de Global
Groove in Nederland zeer van onder de indruk..luister..

Oorspronkelijk uitgebracht in 1967, is dit de re-release uit 1983.
Franklin Boukaka vormde dit Sanza ( duimpiano ) duo in 1967 en
nam in Parijs samen met op saxofoon Jean Serge Essous en Or-
chestre Congolais deze nummers op. Het betreft hier een 45
toeren Maxi single met zes nummers. Korte maar krachtige
uitgave met o.a. Les Brazzavilloises, een lofzang over de
vrouwen uit Brazzaville. Nummer zes is een prachtig
instrumentaaltje met Jean Serge Essous op sax.

Originally from 1967, this is its 1983 re-release. Franklin Boukaka
organized this ensemble of Sanza ( thumb piano ) in 1967 and with
Jean Serge Essous on Saxophone and Orchestre Congolais recorded
these songs in Paris. It concerns a 45 rpm Maxi single here with six
tracks. Short but wonderful record with the song Les Brazzavilloises,
a paean to the women of Brazzaville. Number six is a stunning
instrumental with Jean Serge Essous on sax.

It is about two and a half years ago we discovered Uncle
Toye Ajagun. Around then I posted the 1978 album ‘Gbedu
Beats’ by his hand. I’m very happy to be able to bring his 1975
released ‘The Sound of Olumo Rock, vol.1’ today. Uncle Toye is a
welcome addition to the list of known juju artists.

Donder, bliksem en zware regenval, normaal gezien zouden
we dat minder fijn vinden. Op dit moment echter worden we
er in Nederland behoorlijk blij van. Na de droogste zomer ooit
is wat water zeer welkom. Ook op Haïti heeft men deze hele
week regen, hoe blij men er daar mee is weet ik even niet. Deze
oude jongens zal het waarschijnlijk wel worst wezen, die hebben
al het één en ander meegemaakt op hun tropische eiland.

Thunder, lightning and heavy rainfall, normally we would not
be very amused with it. This instant however it makes the Nether-
lands pretty happy. After the dryiest summer ever a little water is
very welcome. On Haïti it is raining too this whole week, I’m not
sure if it pleases the people there. These old guys will probably
not care a whole lot, they have had their part on the tropical

record is in mint condition and sounds just perfect. We are lucky

Toen zeker vier van de bandleden van Ray Barretto’s groep hem
in 1972 tegelijk verlieten om met enkele andere muzikanten
Típica 73 te beginnen, waren er veel sceptici. De band werd echter
razend populair en scoorde met hum experimentele stijl enorm
goed. Ze maakten zo’n negen albums tot ze in 1982 uit elkaar
vielen. Met Adalberto Santiago. Dit is hun tweede
plaat, het beluisteren zeer waard..

When four of the members of the original band of Ray Barretto
left him simultaneously to start Tipica 73 in 1972, many people
were sceptical about it. The group however was enormously success-
ful with its experimental style and produced some nine records until
they split up in 1982. With Adalberto Santiago. This is their
second album, worth at least a couple of spins.

Hard to find album by Etoile de Dakar with a young Youssou
N’Dour. Contains some of their very best songs like Thiely and
a cover of Duo Los Ahijados’ Hombre Misterioso Soy. The record
is as good as new and sounds wonderful. very lucky find from
some years ago. Also check Absa Gueye and the Senegal section.

Dit is een plaatje met een nog jonge Youssou N’Dour en zijn
band Etoile de Dakar. Een moeilijk te vinden stuk Senegalese
muziek geschiedenis dat enkele van hun mooiste nummers bevat
waaronder Thiely en een cover van Duo Los Ahijados’ Hombre
Misterioso Soy. De plaat bevindt zich in top conditie en klinkt
prachtig. Een gelukkige vondst van enkele jaren terug. Luister
ook naar Absa Gueye. Plezier ..

Tweede elpee in de shangaan stijl die we hier hebben. De vorige
was ook van M.D. Shirinda & Gaza Sisters en werd geplaatst op
8 juli j.l. Shangaan is een vorm van Zulu, Zuid Afrikaanse muziek
die aan de Tsonga gerelateerd is. Net als de vorige plaat is ook
deze op het Buffalo label en uit 1981. Veel luister plezier..

Second album we have here in the shangaan style. The previous
one was also by M.D. Shirinda & Gaza Sisters en was posted on
july 8th. Shangaan is related to the Tsonga people and part of
the Zulu, South African culture. Like the other record, this one
is also on the Buffalo label and from 1981. Enjoy listening..
