On multiple request this is a re-post of King Sunny Adé’s African
version of the album ‘Ajoo’. It was already posted in may 2008.
In those days, when I just started blogging, I made a mistake cutting
up side one in three seperate tracks while it is on the record as one
big song. Today I ripped it again as one and hope you like it more.
You can now replace the old file for this better one.

It must have been in 1981 or 1982, King Sunny played in the Amsterdam
Jaap Eden Hall, followed by Black Uhuru. Two great bands on one evening.
It was an incredible experience I shall never forget. King sunny appeared with
a stage so full of coloured artists, it must have been 20 people or more. Once
they started playing the crowd came in a trance and remained there till the very
end. Listen to Ajoo once again, get it and spread it as usual..

Op herhaaldelijk verzoek is dit een herplaatsing van King Sunny Adé’s
Afrikaanse versie van het album ‘Ajoo’. Het werd eerstelijk geplaatst in
mei 2008. In die dagen, ik was nog maar net begonnen met bloggen, heb
ik de fout gemaakt kant één op te splitsen in drie aparte tracks terwijl ze als
één song op de plaat staan. Vandaag heb ik hem in z’n geheel geript en hoop
dat ie zo een stuk beter bevalt. Vervang de oude file voor de nieuwe.

Het moet in 1981 of 1982 zijn geweest dat King Sunny in de Jaap Eden Hal te
Amsterdam optrad met daarna Black Uhuru. Twee pracht bands op een avond.
Ik zal nooit vergeten hoe KSA met een man of 20 of zelfs meer het volledige
podium vol zette. Vanaf de eerste noten raakte het publiek in een diepe
trance die duurde tot het eind van hun optreden. Waanzinnig goed. Luister
nog eens naar Ajoo, nu beter en stel je die
zaal met uitzinnige fans eens voor..

A reggae album we used to play a lot back in the days, Fatman
Reddim Section with Ian lewis and a bunch of other stars. We
find Sly and Robbie, Barnabas and Mikey Rastar, Touter, Sky Juice
Sticky and Skully and of course the famous Downtown Horns,
Dean, Madden and Fraser. Smooth instrumental reggae from
the old days. Get it and spread it..

Een reggae plaatje die we vroeger veel draaiden, Fatman Reddim

Uit 1978 en op Ijebor hebben we deze plaat vandaag. Etsakor
Sound Voices uit Nigeria. Hij kraakt behoorlijk maar ik wilde
hem toch brengen. Ik kan er weinig zinnigs over zeggen maar
telkens als ik er naar luister intrigeert hij me. De laidback
sound is ondanks de mindere geluidskwaliteit heel fijn.
Van de laatste beurs in Utrecht bracht ik een stapel
duistere Nigeriaanse platen mee naar huis waarvan
dit er eentje is, meer obscuur materiaal volgt..

From 1978 and on Ijebor Records we’ve got this record today.
Etsakor Sound Voices from Nigeria. It has a considerable
amount of background noise but I wanted to bring it anyway.
There is not much I can say about it but everytime I listen to
it I get intrigued. The laidback sound is very nice despite
the crackle and hiss. Brought home a pile of mysterious
Nigerian records from the last fair in Utrecht of which
this is one. More obscure material to follow..

Something we did not see here earlier is Shangaan. Shangaan
are a minority clan of the Tsonga ethnic group. It is a bit complex
explaining the whole background story, if you are interested, just
take a look here. This music is part of the Zulu, South African
culture. It is difficult to hear the difference with Mbaqanga.
I think we must be South African to understand. One way or
the other, the music is very enjoyable, listen..

Een Zuid Afrikaanse stijl die we hier nog niet eerder tegen kwamen
is Shangaan. De Shangaan zijn een minderheids clan van de Tsonga
ethnische groep. Een tikkeltje te complex om hiet uit te leggen, als je
geïnteresseerd bent kijk dan hier. Deze muziek valt onder de Zulu,
Zuid Afrikaanse cultuur. Het verschil met Mbaqanga is wat moeilijk
te horen, ik denk dat je een Zuid Afrikaan moet zijn om dat te horen.

They were here at two earlier occasions in 2010 and 2012.
DJ Daudi was the only one who knew them then. The one
posted in 2012 was also called ‘Embouteillage’, this time
we have different titles however and ‘No 1’ was added to
the title. They were from Brazzaville and also have a fine
brass section, just joking..listen to another Congolese
beauty and share it with your friends..

We hadden ze hier reeds twee keer op bezoek, in 2010 en in
2012. DJ Daudi was zo’n beetje de enige die ze al kende toen.
degene in 2012 gepost heette ook ‘Embouteillage’, dit keer
echter zijn er ander nummers en is de toevoeging ‘No 1’ van
kracht. Ze kwamen uit Brazzaville en hebben een sterke
brass sectie, toevalligheidje..Luister naar nog zo’n
Congolese pracht plaat en deel hem met je vrienden..

Alejo of Alejandro Durán was een van de allergrootsten als
we het over vallenato hebben. Produceerde hopen platen
waaarvan dit slechts een van de vele verzamelalbums betreft.
Nube Viajera y Otros Exitos is een soort ‘Best of’ uit 1973. Er
zullen er van zijn naam nog vele volgen, voor nu,
veel luisterplezier met Nube Viajera..

Alejo or Alejandro Durán was one of the greatest if we speak
about vallenato. He produced piles of records of which this
is only one of the many collectors. Nube Viajera is a kind of
‘Best of’ album from 1973. Many albums will follow by his
hand, for now, enjoy listening to Nube Viajera..

Another rare slice of Congolese brought back from Africa by my
friend Aidan is this one. Orchestre Continental with Josky Kiambukuta
and Tino Muinkua appears on this album from I don’t know what year.
On a label that says ‘Muzikana’. Get it and spread it..

Nog zo’n zeldzaam plaatje Congolese muziek, meegebracht uit Africa
door mijn vriend Aidan is deze. Orchestre Continental met Josky
Kiambukuta en Tino Muinkua veschijnt op dit album uit ik weet
niet welk jaar. Op een label dat ‘Muzikana’ heet.

De plaat is al oud, waarschijnlijk uit de jaren zeventig, en toen waren
deze pracht artiesten zelf ook al oudjes. Maar luister eens hoe ze er
plezier in hadden, het bruist in deze Jibaro. We hadden al zeven van
Chuito’s albums, vind ze simpelweg door ‘Chuito’ in te tikken in onze
zoekbalk links. Op Ansonia en nog als nieuw. Download , pak uit, luister
en laat een berichtje achter als je er blij van werd. Puerto Rico Olé..

The record is already old, probably from the seventies, and the three
artists were quite old in those days already. However, they are obviously
having fun recording it, this Jibaro is just sparkling. We had seven of his
albums so far, find them easily by typing ‘Chuito’ in our search-bar left.
On Ansonia and good as new. Download, unpack, listen and leave us

So far we only saw him with ‘Os Cinco Crioulos’, on their first two
records. Today Elton medeiros is here with his first solo album. From
1973, this is one of his most important works. Although the LP looks
as if in perfect condition some tracks sound a bit poor. It is 45
years of age, so I guess we have to accept it the
way it is. Very enjoyable piece of samba, enjoy..

Tot dusver zagen we hem slechts op de eerste twee platen van
‘Os Cinco Crioulos’. Vandaag is Elton Medeiros hier met zijn eerste
solo album. Uit 1973 is dit een van zijn belangrijkste werken. Hoewel
de elpee er uitziet of hij nieuw is klinken sommige nummers wat aan
de matige kant. Hij is tenslotte 45 jaar oud dus we zullen het ermee
moeten doen. Zeer prettige samba, luister met plezier..

In 1969 vond de tweede versie plaats van het Festival de la
Leyenda Vallenata in Valledupar. Op de tweede en derde
plek eindigden respectievelijk Andrés Landero en Julio de
la Ossa. Op deze plaat doen ze om beurten een nummertje
voor ons. Een stukje Colombiaanse muziek geschiedenis..

In 1969 they held the Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata for
the second time in Valledupar. On second and third place
there were respectively Andrés Landero and Julio de la Ossa.
On this record they take turns in playing for us, all together
writing a piece of Colombian musical history..
