Today’s post concerns another vallenato collector.
It contains ten songs by five artists, two each.
I can truly say five of my favourite singers,
if you’re on the same level don’t hesitate.

At times it feels as if the producer of this album should
have balanced out things a bit more. Rough edges were
left at places I would have polished the sound. However,
on the other hand, perhaps same time it makes this record
so intriguing. The rough funky groove it breaths is unique
and makes you play it again and again. If you are an audio
freak, I strongly suggest not to download this crazy record.
Everybody else, get it & spread it immediately..

Robert Martino and his Gypsies de Pétionville are here
with some hot compas. The group plays very smooth,
knowing each other’s moves to the point. Some great
tunes for your tropical dancing party, succes
guaranteed. Get & spread..

He was one of the many singers with Los Corraleros de Majagual
but made a bunch of records under his own name as well. Cesar
Castro is here with an album from 1973. His style of vallenato is
very enjoyable and his acordeon weeps just the way we like.

From Benin we’ve got this sweet slice of vinyl, it contains
the work of Avohou Pierre. He appears with the great
TP Poly Rythmo de Cotonou. I don’t know who is playing
guitar on this album but I do know it is very good. For
more information about this group maybe we should
turn to Oro, the blog that has most of this stuff.

Some time ago we had volume two, today it’s volume one’s turn.
I.K. Dairo is the man who’s juju is now called Ashiko music, after
it’s old and original name. Playing guitar, talking drum and acor-
deon and singing in various languages he is the group’s main
man. After a firm cleaning the vinyl sounds as good as
new so get it & spread like you’re used to.

Being more and more crazy about vallenato I decided to
make a compilation of some of my favourite tracks. It
contains songs that have been on my turntable a lot.
I used the cover of an album I’m still searching for.
Alonso Pedrozo or ‘el Pollo Cantor’ is not on this
collector but he will appear at the GG shortly.
The ones that do appear will not disappoint
if you are into this hot style of music.

I really can’t tell you anything useful about this artist.
Untill this record I never heard his music. Wanted to
post something from Ghana but the choice is getting
smaller. The album is from 1984 and was recorded in
London as you can see. If anyone knows something
we’d like to hear aout this somehow funny and
funky hihlife, please leave us a message..

Over the years I noticed to have develloped a certain weekness
for raw voices. My favourites are Juancho Polo Valencia, Angel
Vasquez, Andrés Landero, Heliodoro Martinez, Alberto Montiel,
Alejandro Duran, Manuel Caraballo and we can add Pachito Rada
to this list. In other genres there are way more to mention but
this list just covers Colombian artists. I am very sorry to say track
#6 has one small jump, I tried to remove it but did not succeed.
Shame about a good song but sh*t happens. The album remains
worth downloading to my opinion, see for yourself..

Today’s post concerns an album by another group from
la Republique de Guinée. It appears on the great Editions
Syliphone de Conakry and is from 1980. The record’s been
treated very good, it is still brand new. Le Simandou de Beyla
opens with an ode to the late Aboubacar Demba Camara, who
was the leader of Bembeya Jazz. Six fine songs in their favourite
themes as shown in the liner notes above, get it & spread it..
