It was in october of 2014 that I posted volume two in this series.
It resulted in quite some happy reactions and I promised to bring
the other volumes as well. Now today it is volume 5’s turn. I have
volume three waiting and am still on the look out for #1 and #4.
On side two of the album we see two other names. Track 7 is sung
by Arturo Cabarces but I think with the acordeon of Andrés Landero
and then track 12 is sung by Adriano Salas but I think with the
acordeon of Luis Enrique Martinez. If I’m wrong please leave
us a note. Meanwhile enjoy listening..tracks;
01 – Alejandro Durán – Cosa sabrosa
02 – Luis E. Martinez – La tijera
03 – Andrés Landero – Dolor guajiro
04 – Alejandro Durán – Florecita
05 – Luis E. Martinez – Si ella quiere
06 – Andrés Landero – La experiencia
07 – Arturo Cabarces – La sombra
08 – Alejandro Durán – El borracho
09 – Luis E. Martinez – Ana victoria
10 – Andrés Landero – Regina
11 – Alejandro Durán – Bajo sinu
12 – Adriano Salas – Sueño españolPosted by Moosat 7:55 AMCategories

Today’s post concerns an album of which we had the first volume

another post that has disappeared over the years, very strange. No
worries about it because off course we’ve got it stored safely here
at the home of the Global Groove. So, here are volumes one and
two of Langa-Langa Stars on Editions VéVé International. They
belong to the finest of Congolese records in our collection,

album ‘Primitivo’ is still on number two of most
downloaded lp’s at the Global Groove.

Two of the greatest artists in highlife combined their forces
on this here album. Ghana’s ‘King of Highlife’, E.T. Mensah
and Nigeria’s ‘Evil Genius of Highlife’, Dr. Victor Olaiya both
have their impressive career and decided to make a record
together. It is from 1984 and contains 7 wonderful songs.
A must have for every lover of the genre, better get
it and spread it as usual, enjoy..P.S. Also take a look at our very first post,

Completing series is a goal we all have when collecting music.
Take this series of Les Grands Succes des Editions Vévé, we
had volumes 1,2,5,6,7,8 and 9. You can imagine how it feels
to finally find volume 4. Volume 3 is still on my wishlist but
I’m sure one fine day I’ll walk into that missing volume as well.
There is a whole lot of albums yet to be discovered, the search
never ends in that perspective. Verckys is an artist of which we
can never find enough music but it gets harder to find all the
time. The record we’ve got today contains three tracks by
Orchestre Lipua-Lipua and one by Orchestre Kiam,
from 1978 and a real treasure, listen..tracks;
01 – Orchestre Lipua-Lipua – Distingue
02 – Orchestre Lipua-Lipua – Nasepelisa nzoto
03 – Orchestre Lipua-Lipua – Zela mobali nayo mpo otuna

One of the Colombian bands that caught my attention from
the first time I heard them is el Combo Vacaná of Peregoyo.
Their sound is different from what we’re used to hear from
that region. Listen to the guitar
based latin sound of Peregoyo.This is what All Music Guide says about them;
One of the first bands to combine the folk rhythms o
Colombia’s Buenaventura region and the cumbia of Cuba,
Peregoyo Y Su Combo Vacana were known for their unique
electric guitar-dominated sound. Reviewing a reissue of their
early-70s album, Tropicalismo, RootsWorld claimed that
Peregoyo Y Su Combo Vacana “never lets up as it hurls
groove after incessant groove at you, sax and trumpet
blazing from a path cut by fat, no bloated bass licks,
pervasive percussion and searing
solo and group vocals”.tracks;
01 – La guitarra desbarata
02 – Facunda
03 – Palito cae
04 – Cariñito
05 – Pa’ la loma
06 – Maximina
07 – Marucha
08 – La vaca loca
09 – Caravana
10 – Che’ pa changa

Always a thrilling experience when walking into an album
like this one. The Pathé Marconi EMI recordings selected
by Fayette Blaise Mikano in the seventies are often very
promising. Take this lp by Orchestre Les Noirs, none of
the members of this group have familiar sounding
names. Not to me that is. They travelled through
Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania for some years
with huge succes. Founded in 1966 in the
Republic of Zaïre. This one is from 1975,
get it and spread it..P.S.
Track #3 at the end and track #4 at
the beginning sound a bit shrill, it is in
the recording though, we
must take it like it is..tracks;
01 – Bafola 1
02 – Mai ya tongo
03 – S.G.A.
04 – Longoli 1
05 – Masamuna
06 – Diedo miya

08 – Mokulu mbembe 2
09 – MasundaPosted by Moosat 8:33 PM - Thursday May 28, 2015
