In the series ‘3 Reyes del Acordeon’ we have volume two
to start with. At least two other volumes await their turn.
Indeed we are dealing with three Kings in this perspective.
Alejandro Durán, Luis E. Martinez and Andrés Landero
are three of my idols all together, whenever I find an album
by one of them, it really makes my day. Take this series,
I found three of them so far but I promise to do what I can
to discover the others as well. I would very much appreciate
you leaving me a short message, after all that is all I have
to go on. It appears that the people who download african
music leave more comments then the people that download
latin music. Is it a language matter? You people from South
America do understand some English don’t you? Wether you
do or don’t, give me some feedback so I know Colombian
music is also appreciated. One way or the other,
I am a huge fan of these guys, hope U like it 2..tracks;

One of the Ghanaian Bands that has the most fans here at
the Global Groove is Obuoba J.A. Adofo and the City Boys
International Band. We had some five of their albums until
now, find them best using our search-bar at your left hand.
The lp we have here today is one you’ll treasure for sure. It
rocks from the first notes entering your earhole, enjoy..P.S. They used to call him the black Chinese, now I’m not sure
if the term ‘the living saint’ refers to Obuoba Adofo, or not..tracks;

Today’s contribution is a real rarity, Alfredo Gutierrez’ Estrellas
appear among others with Lucho Perez on this slice of vinyl.
Lucho Perez, sometimes also ‘Lucho Argain’, is famous for his
work with la Sonora Dinamita, Los Corraleros de Majagual,
la Sonora Barulera and others. His voice is one every Colombian
recognizes and belongs to the most adored. I have added a few
bonustracks with Lucho for you to remember his great work.
He is to be heard on tracks; 1,4,5,7 and 11 of the album and
bonus, 13, 14, 15 and 16.
Other guest singers here are Edilberto Benitez, Carmelo Barraza
and Danuil y Carmelo. Alfredo himself is not to be forgotten as
well of course, we had a bunch of his records, best use
our search-bar to find them, enjoy..tracks;

When you don’t look good, at first it seems we have
another album by the famous Oriental Brothers. But
no, it isn’t. These are the Continental Brothers from
Owerri, also Nigerian, from the same area if I’m not
mistaking, comparable style but different guys. I did
not find any useful information on this band, they are
as it’s called ungooglable, not one searching result.
If you know something we would like to, please let
us know by leaving a comment, thanks in advance.tracks;

His vallenato belongs to the best I know, Colacho Mendoza
passed by here on various occasions and I’m happy to bring
you another of his works. He appeared with los Inseparables
one time and this is the third album with his own Conjunto.
If you like this sound the way I do you may find the other lp’s
here, here and here.
I know that only a select group of our visitors listen to vallenato,
it is a type of music you must learn to listen to, it took me some
time too but now I am completely sold and crazy about it, give
it another try and pass it to your buddies, enjoy..tracks;

When this lp came out in 1973 I was 15 years old and had no
idea of this music existing. I was listening to English and Ame-
rican popmusic, maybe some blues.. It took another five years
before the first African, Caribbean and South American music
came through to us. Fortunately we are looking at a much
broader spectrum of sounds and styles nowadays, the world
wide web is a huge support in that perspective. Listen to this
wonderful slice of Guinée vinyl, which is in great condition,
even after 41 years. It’s got some pops though in the middle of
track #3 and at the end of track #6, a small pressing error.
In this series we already had the 1970 and the 1973 versions.
Check them out, spectacular releases one by one..tracks;

Okay folks, let’s get back to some Colombian hot stuff.
The opening song by Michi Sarmiento is so good, we
get spoiled straight away when listening to this album.
I am not saying that the rest sucks, no sir, it is party
music from beginning to end. Chico Cervantes, Fruko,
all bueno y caliente. I’ll do a bit more salsa futuramente.tracks;

Hello world,
this sunday it is 25 years ago that ‘le Grand Maître’
Franco Luambo Makiadi passed away. Untill now I have
been posting practically every album I found by him. When
Franco died in 1989, Polygram Kenya launched this series
of 10 albums. They were compiled by Justus M. Kasoya.
I’m afraid they didn’t do a very good job though, the artwork
on the covers of the lp’s is quite poor, it lacks of any info
about the music, the sound quality leaves us with something
to wish for and many songs are cut off at a certain point.
In short, it does not do a great deal of justice to Franco’s
impressive oeuvre. Few collectors have good words for the
series, however, we can’t deny that it’s part of the inheritance
and therefore I guess it is justified to bring you these ten lp’s
nevertheless. Of course it is not all that bad, it’s a historic
document all together and deserves a place in our collections.
Nowadays we have all the desired information under our
keyboards so with a little homework we’re able to find out
who plays and sings on every recording. Twentyfive years
have passed in an incredible pace, it seems only
yesterday Franco was still among us,
now let’s honour him once more..
I made this collage as an
homage some years ago.

Good morning groovers, I am so very happy to be independent,
I found another album that disappeared from the old page. We
copied everything from there to build the new page but now I
find that some albums have simply been removed by Blogger.
I was going to bring you volume two of Pinduca’s ‘Carimbó e
Sirimbó’. I am very sure to have posted volume one about a
year ago but now I find it gone. My regards to Blogger and
here it is again, this time it’s here to stay. So you’re being
lucky today since here are volumes one and two in the
same post. Pinduca is from Brazil’s northern city Belém
that lies at the mouth of the Amazone river and is the
capital of Pará province. His carimbó is a style on it’s
own, nice rhythms, very different from the music you
are used to find in Brazil, it’s no samba, it’s no forró,
it’s carimbó and sirimbó..listen..tracks volume one;
