Next friday I’ll be doing another evening of deejaying in that same
local bar I did an African night not so long ago. This time it will be
an evening with only South-American music. From Salsa to Reggaeton and
from Merengue to Samba. Both Old and New sounds, Urban and Traditional.
I am getting in the mood already by posting this great album from 1975.
Rhythm and Percussion hero Cortijo is a titan, he brings us Guaracha,
Plena, Bomba and Bolero on this LP. I especially like the young female
voice which appears to be from his daughter ( if I’m not mistaking ) Fe
Cortijo. If you like some Salsa, don’t let it pass, it’s a true pearl.Do you live nearby and want to come dancing ?

Good day to you all. There is something coming up that you should know
about. Rapidshare is changing it’s policy in 3 days, I received this
message; “Your files are currently using more than 25 GB of space.
Please note that on October 20th, 2009 a new method of storage management
will come into effect. If an account is using more than 25 GB, all inactive
files associated with that account will be deleted.
Active files (i.e. files that have been downloaded at least once during the
last 90 days) will of course not be deleted, regardless of the storage used.”
Probably lots of my files will turn inactive, PLEASE report to me if you
find any dead files, I shall try to re-upload all of them, thanks.Now about this album, Souzy Kasseys is one hell of a guitarplayer and he
made us this great LP. With the great voice of Lea Lignanzi this is an album
you don’t want to miss, it’s simply fantastic, check it out yourself.P.S.
Please tell your friends and relatives to come and download some older
posts, it will keep them alive for at least 90 more days and
I shall need less time to re-upload them again and again and again…
Thank you very much.tracks;

Today, 20 years ago, we lost ‘le grand maitre Franco Luambo Makiadi’.
I was going to post one of the ‘Le Quart de Siècle’ series but I saw
that one of my fellowbloggers posted all four of them. ( Worldservice )
Two years before his tragic death, Franco played here in the Netherlands.
Unfortunately I was not sharp then and missed it. Good thing we have this
live registration which I am posting instead. It contains a live version of
Lutumba Simaro’s ‘Testament ya bowule’ which I like so much.
Not Franco’s best live album but very appropriate for this day.

If you find an album on Eddy’Son’s label, big chance you’ll find
Master Mwana-Congo on it too. He participated in lots of Eddy’Son
projects. To honour this great guitarist they made him an album on
his own name. Master Mwana’s guitar style deserves very much to
have it, check out Master’s New Style !tracks;

It’s only just wednesday evening but if you put on this record, volume
up, you’ll be dancing around the room in no time. Pepe Kalle’s soukous
rocks like no other and sitting is just no option with this album.
Just down it, put it on, and get up from that chair..
By the way, the trackorder on the backsleeve is different from
the label. I believe the last one.tracks;

Sam Mangwana started out in the early 1960’s with Vox Africa and
Festival des Marquisards before joining Tabu Ley’s Afrisa. In 1972
he switched to OK Jazz for three productive years before returning
to Afrisa. Eventually he set up a splinter group in West Africa called
African All Stars, with whom he developed a pan-African sound with pop
and Caribbean rhythmic undertones, which has been the basic for a
successful globe-trotting solo career.
