Ik kan het zelf haast niet geloven, het is al 38 jaar geleden dat deze
plaat uitkwam. Het voelt zoveel dichterbij. Tja, dat is hoe tijd werkt.
Het dendert als een trein voorbij. Hoe dan ook, Dit is zo’n album dat
als tijdloos kan worden beschouwd, het is nog net zo goed als toen.
Kijk eens wat een team van top artiesten er aan mee heeft gewerkt.
Alweer zo’n elpee die niet gemist mag worden ..

I can hardly believe it myself, it is already 38 years ago this album was
released. It feels so much closer. Yep, well, that is how time works. It
races by like a train. One way or the other, this is such a record that
can be considered as timeless, it is still just as good as it was then.

Another classic 1976 reggae album is this one. The Mighty
Diamonds’ first release on Virgin. Originally on the Jamaican
Well Charge label. It contains hits like title and opening song
‘Right Time’ and ‘Them Never Love Poor Marcus’ about Marcus
Garvey. Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Ansel Collins, Ossie Hib-
bert and Tommy McCook are some of the wonderful artists

Mooi hè, zo’n platenhoes die je een klein verhaaltje vertelt.
“Kom op met die autosleutels ..” lijkt Atakora’s vrouw te zeg-
gen. Zo te zien maakt hij echter weinig aanstalten op haar ver-
zoek in te gaan. Sterker nog, Atakora neemt een afwachtende
houding aan, een bamboe lat in de rechterhand klaar om zijn
brutale vrouw zo dadelijk mee van repliek te dienen. Ik laat m’n
fantasie hier de vrije loop hoor maar zo zou het kunnen zijn.
Eens zien, we hebben hier een album met Atakora Manu’s
Band welke niet voorkomt in de discografie op Discogs. We
zien dat vaker, zodoende ook geen jaar van uitgave ..

Isn’t this a nice record sleeve ? It tells us a little story. With a
bit of imagination it seems Atakora’s wife says to him, “now
give me them car keys ..” Apparently however he doesn’t seem
to respond on this. On the contrary, Atakora plays the waiting
game, a piece of bamboo in his right hand, ready to give her a
correcting spanking in a little while. I could be mistaking but
that is how it looks. Let’s see, what do we have here ? An
album with Atakora Manu’s Band which does not appear
in Discogs discography. We see this more often.
Thus, again we don’t know a year of release ..

Pablo Lubadika’s soukous was one of the first I heard back in the
early eighties. It was through the two 12 inch singles ‘Madeleina’
and ‘Bo Mbanda’.They also appeared on the albums Sound d’Afrique
I and II from 1981 and 1982. We used to play them a lot on dance
parties in those days. Today’s elpee is from 1986 and is with
Tumba Tutu de Mukose. I have a couple of other records by Pablo
Lubadika but they are on Syllart. Syllart has threatened me with
lawyers to remove all of their albums in an earlier stage so
unfortunately I can’t post them here. Shame but okay, plenty
music left to enjoy. Get this one and
spread it like you’re used to ..

door ons gedraaid op dansfeestjes. Vandaag hebben we deze plaat
uit 1986 met zanger Tumba Tutu de Mukose. Ik heb nog enkele andere
elpees met Pablo Lubadika maar die zitten op Syllart. Syllart
heeft al eerder gedreigd hun advocaten op me af te sturen
als ik hun werk niet zou verweideren dus die kan ik helaas
niet plaatsen. Jammer maar okee, genoeg andere muziek
om te genieten. Pak en deel hem weer ..

Yesterday’s album was messed up concerning track order.
The record company mixed up sides and titles and today
we have a similar situation. Fortunately I am on top of it
this time and managed to discover things on time. Okay
let’s see this must be about the 26th record we have with
Nana Ampadu’s African Brothers Band from Ghana. Not
one bad album as I recall, I guess Ghana’s most
succesful band ever ..

Gisteren hadden we een plaat waarvan de volgorde van de
nummers door de uitgever door elkaar was gegooid, vandaag
het zelfde liedje. Wat een rommeltje maken die lui er soms van.
Gelukkig was ik er dit keer alert op en staat alles in de goede
volgorde voor de downloader. Dit moet zo’n beetje de 26ste
plaat zijn die we hebben met Nana Ampadu’s African Brothers
Band uit Ghana, er is geen slechte bij, ik denk
Ghana’s meest succelsvolle band ooit ..

In the ‘african 360.000 series’ we find this album with M’Pongo
Love. She was one of the few succesful female Congolese singers.
Aimee Fransoise M’Pongo Langu was her real name, she took on the
name M’Pongo Love age 19. Having her first hit ‘Pas Possible Mati’ in
1976. They called her ‘La Voix La Plus Limpide’, the clearest, calmest most
serene. M’Pongo Love suffered from cerebral meningitis and died in
1990, only 33 years of age. Listen to this historic album ..

Good morning groovers, yesterday I received a writing from Robert
from Guadeloupe telling me that Hiver Abidos has passed away two
weeks ago. Quote; ” last saturday the band (Typical Présé Présé) play-
ed for his funeral in a crowded public garden in Basse-Terre and they
will also play this week end in Saint-Claude in memory of late Daniel
Dimbas who died a couple of years ago ..”. For this sad occasion let’s
have another album with Typical Combo and Hiver Abidos doing the
lead vocal parts. It is from 1984. A tribute, RIP Hiver.

Three days ago we had us this album with Alfonso Piña.
It is a quite unknown elpee, the two more famous tracks
by his hand can be found on this porro collector. It contains
a bunch of other fine songs as well. Bigger names like Pedro
laza, los Corraleros de Majagual and Pacho Galan for instance
also find a place on this sunny cd. A Discos Fuentes 1994 disc.

Drie dagen geleden hadden we een album met Alfonso Piña
en zijn orkest. Het betrof een tamelijk onbekende plaat. De
twee bekende nummers van zijn hand vind je op deze porro
verzamelaar. Hij bevat nog een rijtje goede nummers. Grotere
namen zoals Pedro laza, los Corraleros de Majagual en Pacho
Galan bijvoorbeeld vind je hier ook op. Zonnige 1994 Fuentes cd.

Kant één is met Coupé Cloué, kant twee met Septentrional ..

With Orchestre Septentrional we had two, with Coupé Cloué
we had about eight, including the ones with Ensemble or Trio
Select. Today a record with both artists. This one is very short
however, it is a kind of 12 inch single but on 33 rpm. Side one
is with Coupé Cloué, side two with Orchestre Septentrional ..
