Good morning groovers, this sunday we’ll do something
else for a change. I was in the mood for soul music. An
artist I’ve always loved is Ann Peebles, together with the
works of Willie Mitchell of Hi Records. Just a perfect com-
bination. This is an album from 1978, Ann’s voice, Willie’s
production skills, a 100% score to my humble opinion ..

Goeiemorgen mensen, op deze zondag morgen had ik eens
zin in wat soul. Iemand die ik altijd al hoog had zitten is Ann
Peebles. Samen met het onvergetelijke werk van Willie Mitchell
en zijn Hi Records, een perfecte combinatie. Deze is uit
1978, Ann’s prachtige stem, Willie’s ‘producing’, naar mijn
bescheiden mening een 100% score ..

Hello groovers, what have we got cooking for you today ?
It is a rare compas album from Haïti. Not much to find
about this group, on Discogs we find two records from
the seventies and this one which has no year of release.
Only guessing it is from the 70’s as well hence track #7.
On the wonderful Marc Records label. Absolute party
material but expect No Samba !

we slechts drie elpees op Discogs waarvan twee uit de jaren 70
en deze van welk geen jaar van uitgifte. Het lijkt mij dat hij ook
uit de 70’s komt, check titel #7. Op het geweldige Marc Records
label en absoluut feest materiaal, verwacht géén samba !

Ever since it came out in 1980 I’ve been crazy about this here
album with the great and late Gregory Isaacs. 10 sweet songs
by the ‘King of Lovers Rock’. In fact this record was called the first
lovers rock album ever. Some tracks with Sly and Robbie, some
with the Radics ..

Ik weet het nog goed, sinds dit album uitkwam in 1980 is het een
van mijn lievelings platen met de grote wijlen Gregory Isaacs. 10
heerlijke songs door de ‘King of Lovers Rock’. The Lonely Lover
wordt zelfs het eerste lovers rock album ooit genoemd. Enkele
tracks met Sly and Robbie en enkele met the Radics ..

Very popular South African mbaqanga group the Soul
Brothers with their first overseas release on Earth Works
from 1988. The recordings are from between 1983 and
1986. It appears the songs have been longer, unfortunately
they are all cut off at 3 to 4 minutes. Still, a solid listen ..

P.S. We had an album before which strangely
disappeared. I have therefore added a second link.

Zeer populaire Zuid Afrikaanse band the Soul Brothers
met hun eerste Europese plaat op Earth Works en uit
1988. The opnamen zijn van tussen 1983 en 1986. Het
lijkt erop dat de songs origineel langer zijn geweest,
helaas allemaal afgekapt op 3 tot 4 minuten.
Ondanks dat, nog steeds lekker hoor ..

We hadden ooit al een plaat van ze welke op vreemde
wijze is verdwenen. Je vind daarom een tweede link.

is de tweede in rij. Zeldzaam in Portugal opgedoken 45 toeren
spul welke je zeker niet zult willen missen. Ik heb de hoesjes
en de labels in de file gestopt. Luister er weer fijn naar ..

In juli 2016 hadden we de Lucky Brothers Band op het Anodisc
label met een plaatje uit 1979. Vandaag de tweede die we op dat
label hebben. Het betreft Geetee Onwuka over wie ik je verder
niets te malden heb. Gewoon maar luisteren, inclusief kraakjes ..

In july 2016 we had us an album with the Lucky Brothers Band on
the Anodisc label from 1979. Today we have the second record on
that label. It concerns an album with Geetee Onwuka about who
I can’t tell you anything useful. Just listen to it with free crackles ..

Oorspronkelijk is hij uit 1978, dit is een herpersing en het
is onduidelijk in welk jaar dat heeft plaats gevonden. Iets
anders is wel duidelijk, de plaat is hagelnieuw en klinkt
dan ook loepzuiver. Lekker luisteren weer ..

Originally it is from 1978, this is a repress, from what year
is unclear. Something else however is very clear, it is
brandnew and sounds as such. Enjoy listening ..
