Good morning groovers, today we find another awesome
record with Alhaji (Chief) Kollington Ayinla. Kollington is a
fuji master. Owo Tun Tun, which we have here is a very
strong album released in 1984. The drums are so powerful,
when you listen to it, put up your volume and reach a kind
of ecstasy like never before. We had some of his work before
and it found dozens of happy listeners.
This one is for fellow blogger Henk Madrotter, who is a huge
lover of Kollington Ayinla’s music .. enjoy folks ..

Goeiemorgen groevers, vandaag hebben we nog zo’n top
album met Alhaji (Chief) Kollington Ayinla. Kollington is een
fuji meester. Owo Tun Tun, de plaat die we hier hebben is
een zeer sterke elpee uit 1984. De drums zijn zo krachtig,
als je ernaar luistert, zet dan het volume flink hoog en raak
in een extase als nimmer tevoren. We hadden al een aantal
van zijn platen en die vonden vele blije luisteraars. Deze is
voor Henk Madrotter die een groot liefhebber is
van Kollington Ayinla’s muziek .. genieten maar ..

Ik ben geen groot fan van Koffi Olomide’s latere platen.
Zijn vroege werk daarentegen is een stuk aantrekkelijker.
Volgens Discogs is dit zijn eerste album uit 1983, opgenomen
onder mentorschap van Joski Kiambukuta in Studio Madeleine
in Brussel. Deze plaat is zeker enkele omwentelingen waard.
Luister en kijk wat jij ervan vindt ..

I must say Koffi Olomide’s later work is not my favourite.
His early works are, to my humble opinion, a lot more interesting.
According to Discogs this is Koffi’s first album from 1983, recorded
under advisory of Joski Kiambukuta in Studio Madeleine in Brussels.
This record is worth at least a couple of spins, listen
and make up your own mind ..

other album with King Robert and that was with his Izon Brothers
Band. Although it was downloaded over 200 times it didn’t get

Hello Groovers, what have we picked for you today ?
With the weather getting warmer in our part of the
globe some Latin grooves will spice up the day.

On Colombian label Discos Fuentes we find this nice
collector from 1977. It contains songs from different
parts of South America and other Latin countries. We
see Cuban, Dominican, Mexican and Venezuelan bands
and singers. A cool compilation of songs in various styles ..

Goeiemorgen, wat hebben we vandaag voor je uitgezocht ?
Met het warmer wordende weer hier in ons kikkerlandje
leek me wat Latijns Amerikaanse muziek wel gepast.

Op het Colombiaanse label Discos Fuentes vinden we deze
fijne verzamelaar uit 1977. Hij bevat nummers uit verschillende

Dr. Orlando Owoh finds a lot of fans here at the Global Groove.
We had us some 7 of his albums already and each and every one
gets a lot of response. This one is from 1977 and sounds as fresh
and sparkling as if recorded last week. Orlando Owoh with his dark
and strong voice, always accompanied by great rhythms and back-
ground singers, his Young Kenneries. Today’s post is dedicated to
Rosa and her friends from 22fm.org. An internet radio station from
the University of Leiden. They will be live coming Wednesday
23 April, 20:00-22:00 CEST. In this episode Rosa will play

We hebben al zo’n zeven platen met Dr. Orlando Owoh en
zijn band gezien hier op de Global Groove en altijd krijgen deze
albums veel respons. Deze elpee is uit 1977, maar klinkt zo fris
alsof hij vorige week is opgenomen. Dr. Orlando Owoh met zijn
mooie donkere stem wordt vergezeld van sterke ritmes en de
achtergrond vokalen van zijn Young Kenneries. Deze post is
vandaag speciaal voor Rosa en haar vrienden van internet Radio
station 22fm.org. Een online radiostation van de Leidse Universiteit.
Komende Woensdag, 23 April hebben ze een uitzending, volledig
gewijd aan de muziek van de Global Groove. Luister van 20.00 tot

Two days ago, on April 11th, another great singer has
passed away. Maxwell Livingston Smith, better known as
Max Romeo died at 80 years old. We had his album War
ina Babylon, produced by Lee Perry when the latter passed
back in September 2019. Max Romeo reached a way of fame
in Jamaica and in Europe, he made quite some records. Check
his Bio, Discography and music. I have added a couple of
Bonus tracks in the file. Play his music and remember
the late and great Max Romeo ..

Twee dagen geleden, op 11 April, heeft een groot zanger
onze wereld achter zich gelaten. Maxwell Livingston Smith,
beter bekend als Max Romeo overleed op 80 jarige leeftijd.
We hadden zijn top album War ina Babylon, geproduceerd

We meet Gaby Lita Bembo on this album from 1983
on which we find no Orchestre Stukas. He appears with
some musicians, I think from Belgium. It was recorded in
Bruxelles. The sound is much funkier then we’re used to
with Lita Bembo. Quite danceable music, check it ..

Op dit album uit 1983 vinden we Gaby Lita Bembo
zonder de Stukas Band. Hij heeft deze plaat gemaakt
met, vermoedelijk, een aantal Belgische muzikanten.

They were founded in 1963 and had a long span of active
years. This album is from 1987 and displays a much later
group and sound. Still going strong on this quite latin
sounding compas record. Listen to Orchestre Tropicana ..

Opgericht in 1963 komt Orchestre Tropicana d’Haïti hier
voor de dag met een album uit 1987. Heel wat latere band
en sound op deze plaat. Een iets meer latin klinkende

are just marvelous. The way he cries and shouts out in between
his powerfull singing makes you crave for a shot of tequila and
