Oh yes, there’s quality and there’s quality. This here slice of
South American vinyl is super hot. Only eight songs but they
are all extremely good. The lp is very well produced, sounds
fresh and is in top condition. It is a Mexican pressing made
by RCA in 1975 but with all Colombian artists. On heavy vinyl
just the way we like it, incredibly well preserved in 39 years.
Better don’t miss this one, get it & spread it..tracks;
1 Trio Colombia – Salpicon de cumbias
2 Henry Castro y Conjunto de Ivan Uribe – Mi camisa
3 Rómulo Gaycedo y el Combo de Edmundo Arias – Guepa… je
4 Antonio González – Cumbia de ovejas
5 Rossi Valencia – Cumbia internacional
6 José Garibaldi Fuentes y el Grupo de Edmundo Arias – Llorela comae
7 Gladys Viera y Orquesta – Me voy pa’ chiriguana
8 Miguel Ahumada y Conjunto – Cumbia vallenataPosted by Moosat 10:17 AMCategories

Two Great artists on one lp, Lisandro Meza and Alejandro
Duran appear together on this slice of tropical candy.
Backsleeve info is quite poor so I am just guessing both
musicians play with Lisandro’s Conjunto Sabanero. Track
one is written by Lisandro, track two by Alejo, track 3 by
Lisandro and so on. I’m not sure but it seems they perform
together, taking turns in singing as well. One way or the other,
the album contains a bunch of happy songs you’re going to
enjoy listening to, cumbias, porros
y vallenatos, disfruta y goza..
aprecio si deja unas
palabras.tracks;

Hello, goodmorning, have you got any idea how hard it is
to find albums by this guy. Andres Landero’s lp’s are sought
after by many collectors and if you find them, you got to be
lucky to find them in good shape. This one for instance plays
quite nice but then we’ve got to take some sleeve damage
and people have been writing on the label and backsleeve.
The most important part, the music, reached us in fine
condition though. Let’s focus and listen to Andres
Landero’s super rhythms and melodies. He is
one of my all time favourite Colombian
stars, fantastic dance material…tracks;
1 Maria del Carmen
2 El hijo del pueblo
3 La tabla de multiplicar
4 Suegra buena
5 Sigo luchando
6 La espina
7 Juancho y alicia
8 Linda vallenata

If I try to find this in the Rough Guide on latin and such,
there’s not any information. ‘Parranda’ music from Colombia
seems absent in the guide. They speak of parranda from
Venezuela and other countries but no Colombia. Bovea
and his Vallenatos are well known for their acoustic
interpretations of cumbias, merengues, paseos and
parranda. This lp from 1973 on ‘Discomoda’ gives
us some fine examples of their work. Guillermo
Buitrago, Hermanos Bedoya and Gildardo
Montoya, all soon to come..tracks;
1 La media luna
2 La desobediente
3 Tu no vales nada
4 Mi pollito colorao
5 La hamaca grande
6 Consuelito
7 La basurita
8 Mi amor de claudia
9 El pajarito de mi novia
10 La muerte de abel antonio
11 Nely
12 Mi ligia amadaPosted by Moosat 8:02 AMCategories

It is a little confusing; Buitraguito sounds as ‘small Buitrago’.
In this case we are speaking of two musicians, the career of
Buitraguito started when Buitrago died. Guillermo Buitrago
of who we had his most famous work here,
already died age 29. He managed to win the hearts of all
Colombians however and hits like ‘Compae Heliodoro’ and ‘Ron
de Vinola’ were originated by him. Buitrago’s ‘Diciembre y Año
Nuevo’ was an album everybody played at the end of the year
and is considered typical new years music. Now Buitraguito
is a man who’s real name is Julio César SanJuán, and because
he was working in the same type of music and had a somehow
similar voice as the old master, he was asked to perform with
Los 50 de Joselito. Buitraguito, who had just left the Vallenato
group of Bovea, made a great impression and they started calling
him ‘Buitraguito’. Warner Bros. wanted to record an album with
all the old Buitrago songs with him but that never happened.
Copying an other’s family name and his music too was subject
of discussions, it was too much and finally he dumped the name.
One way or the other, what we have for you today is an album of
Pedro Quinto on which Buitraguito is the singer. His voice does
sound a lot like the old Buitrago’s and I am thrilled by it..
Musica Parrandera of the highest quality to my opinion.tracks;
1 El brujo ( Julio SanJuán )
2 Que tienen las mujeres ( Fontanilla y González )
3 Mis tristezas ( Efraín González )
4 Maria morales ( Julio SanJuán )
5 Potrerillo ( Julio Bovea )
6 Lamento provinciano ( Julio SanJuán )
7 Rosa perfumada ( Julio SanJuán )
8 Carmen miryam ( Julio SanJuán )
9 Oyeme rosita ( Gustavo Rada )
10 Caballito melao ( José Barros )
11 Malibu ( Gustavo Rada )
12 Bonita luna ( Efraín González )Posted by Moosat 10:06 AMCategories

Goodmorning groovers, I have another appointment with one
of our contributors today, Sanjay is the man that brings us
these killer Colombian lp’s. Costa Brava vol.1 is such an
album. ( nothing to do with the Spanish costa brava ) It
contains songs by three great musicians to my opinion.
Anibal Velasquez is the most famous of the three but
Aniceto Molina and José Velasquez are not to be under-
estimated as well. There’s one cumbia track and futher we
find paseo, pase-goajiro, paseito, pasebol, rumba, guaracha
and merengue-joropo, all happy Colombian styles.
Very enjoyable stuff you’d better not miss..tracks;
1 Anibal Velasques – Caruya’
2 Anibal Velasquez – Mi destino
3 Aniceto Molina – El bailarin
4 José Velasquez – Juanita
5 Aniceto Molina – Mayo
6 Anibal Velasquez – Yolanda
7 José Velasquez – Caracol

9 Aniceto Molina – Maria elisa
10 Anibal Velasquez – Dejala que sufra
11 Anibal Velasquez – En brazos de otro

You liked volume one a lot so I guess volume two will
gain some happy listeners as well. This lp contains a
couple of huge hits to my humble opinion. Track # one
for instance with the great Lucho Pérez is a straight
killer. But off course Pedro Laza’s ‘Navidad Negra’ and
Calixto Ochoa’s ‘Recordando el Pasado’ are famous
cumbias you don’t want to miss. My personal favourite
is Andres Landero, his voice and rhythms are hotter
than hot and capture me from beginning to end..
Cumbias solamente Cumbias vol.II, a must
for your Colombian collection.tracks;
1 Los Corraleros de Majagual – La cumbia soba
2 Andres Landero y su Conjunto – La pava congona

11 Los Galleros – Tabaco mascao
12 Climaco Sarmiento y su Orquesta – Cumbia sabrosaPosted by Moosat 11:25 AM - Saturday July 26, 2014
Well Chuckie Jo, that is so nice to hear that I could not
resist posting you some cumbia straight away. American
rednecks that love cumbia are quite rare I reckon and the
fact alone calls for a reward. Suck on this collector for a
while, it contains songs by the finest artists in the field.
Cumbia is such happy music, I can fully understand
you getting addicted to it, I am a sucker for it too..tracks;

Okay fellow groovers, back to reality. When I first saw
this lp, I was naive and thought it had something to do
with Colombian salsa band ‘Sonora Carruseles’. And
when listening to the first track one continues to feel
a certain link with the group. However after searching
the web for it, I didn’t find anything. Listening to the lp
I got captured by surprise, as pleased as punch, “lo
Primero Conjunto Miramar” found it’s self another fan.
Original songs, no salsa but cumbias, porros, pregon,
Guaracha, son and guajira, pure sweetness to the ear.
Now I have tried to convince you before, so no more
superlatives, just get it and give it a spin..azúcar !..tracks;
1 Carruseles
2 Reina de cumbias
3 Sufre negra
4 Picale
5 La silenciosa
6 Pregonando
7 Chela
8 Salpicon
9 La pestañita

When you take this lp in your hands and look for any scratches,
you won’t find them. Listening to it however I’m affraid we have
to accept some noises towards the end of side-b. Especially
track 11. side-a is clean but is slightly off centre so getting
closer to track 6 it is starting to sound false a bit. Now about
the quality of the music, that’s another story. Take the second
number, ‘El aguacero’ by Anibal Velasquez, I fell in love with
that song straight away, the backing drums are somehow
quite different, I love’m, simply irresistible..
Overall, wonderful release, awesome
cover, some great tunes,
small disturbing
errors..tracks;
1 Los Corraleros – Juana patiño
2 Anibal Velasquez – El aguacero
3 Luis E. Martinez – Cumbia sampuesana
4 Climaco Sarmiento – La cigarra
5 Los Hispanos – Cumbia marinera
6 Banda y Corors de Bocachica – Si mañana muero
7 Julio Erazo – Cumbia de margarita
8 Los Alegres del Sinu – Cumbia cereteana
9 Luis E. Martinez – Cumbia cienaguera
10 Los Corraleros – Cumbia campesina
11 Alejandro Duran – Me quede llorando
12 Andres Landero – La pollera rosadaPosted by Moosat 3:02 PMCategories
