Het afgelopen jaar een mooie trip gemaakt naar Lissabon
om Angolese plaatjes te vinden. Vandaag de eerste zeven
7″ singles daar opgedaan. Moeilijk te vinden in Nederland,
iets beter in Portugal maar ook daar moet je wat geluk
hebben. Sla dit zeker niet over ..

Last year I made this little trip to Lisbon to find me some
Angolan records. Today the first seven 7″ singles I found
there. Hard to find in the Netherlands, a little easier in
Portugal but also there one has to be lucky.
Don’t let this go by on you ..

O ano pasado fiz uma viagem em Lisboa para achar discos
de Angola. Hoje os primero sete 7″ singles que comprei aí.
Bem dificel de achar aqui na Holanda, um pouco melhor
em Portugal mas la também tem que ter bastante sorte.

Het is een cliché maar oh zo waar. Hoe ouder je wordt, hoe
sneller de tijd aan je voorbij trekt. Er zijn gelukkig zat manieren
om hem wat te remmen. Zo kan ik uren verdwijnen in het aan
stukken knippen van oude tijdschriften e.d. Vervolgens weer
een nieuw plaatje te plakken met de brokstukken ervan. Of
het luisteren naar zweverige klanken uit de collectie vreemde
muziek, over de jaren bij elkaar gespaard. Vandaag krijg je wat
van beide. Droom weg en rem de tijd een uurtje..

It is a commonplace for sure but oh so true. The older we get,
the faster time passes by. Fortunately there are ways to slow the
pace. I use to cut up magazines and such and create new images
with the scraps. A fun way to spend time. Or listening to all types
of weird music, collected over the years. Today you get a bit of both.
Dream away and slow time down an hour. Credits go to Owl Qaeda,

Ik moet hoog nodig inlopen met de Samplers die verwijzen naar
hoogtepunten in het oeuvre van de Global Groove. Met deze vol.62
bereiken we december 2016 en lopen dus zo’n twee jaar achter op
de feiten. Voordeel is dat je op deze manier weer even wordt gewezen
op al het moois uit het verleden en terug blikt op vervlogen tijden. Toch
ga ik er nog een paar maken om iets dichterbij het heden te geraken.

It is time to catch up with the Samplers which point to the highlights
in the works of the Global Groove. With this volume 62 we reach
december 2016 and so, walk behind some two years on the facts.
The good thing about it is, this way we are directed to all the fine
music we had in the past and are reminded to look back at goodies.

In het verleden zagen we reeds enkele van deze tracks. Helaas en
om een reden die ik niet wens te vermelden moest ik sommige van
de platen waar ze op voor kwamen verwijderen van de Global Groove.
Vandaag zijn ze terug in een nieuwe setting, een Mali compilatie. Ik ga
ervan uit dat ze op deze manier niemand kwaad doen. We zien het wel.
Hoe dan ook, de muziek is te goed om te moeten missen, luister zelf..

Some of the tracks we have here today have been here on earlier
occasions. For some mysterious reason they were removed from
the blog at a certain time. Now they are here in a different way
and I think nobody will complain, let’s see. This is volume two in the
Best of the West series. One way or the other, the music is too
