- Friday March 21, 20145 comments on Okukuseku Band of Ghana Awosco & Sons Records 1979
Okukuseku Band of Ghana is certainly one of the most
famous of all those Ghanaian groups that went to Nigeria
to find their fortune. This is the first lp they made after
returning to Ghana. It is from 1979 and as they stated
on the backsleeve, it was made for your nice cool
enjoyment. Thank you Okukuseku..tracks;
1 Keka ko
2 Odo bra
3 Atanfo wmohyere
4 Me-nkwaPosted by Moosat 3:24 PM - Saturday March 8, 2014
Goodmorning people, yesterday I received a request. It was
Caleb who reminded me Alex Konadu hadn’t passed by here
for quite some time and that last january 18th was his death
anniversary. It just so happens I have the lp he requested
and here it is. So lets all play this record and pay Alex
Konadu the honour that is due to him, sweet highlife..tracks;

About today’s record, this one is for
you Kwabena. Kyerematen Stars with Kyerematen Atwede’s
sweet voice has pleased me every time,
so grab it and share it,
you know the drill..P.S. The record begins with a lot of talk in Ghanaian,
can you translate this for us Kwabena ?tracks;
1 Afenhyiapa
2 Obra ammo
3 Masere m’ano
4 Onua ma yenye adwuma
5 A.k. badu
6 D.k. nyarkoPosted by Moosat 3:04 PM - Tuesday February 4, 2014
They call him the black Chinese, it is Obooba J.A. Adofo and
he leads the City Boys Band of Ghana. I am sorry the b-side
is a bit noisy but we can’t ask too much of an old lp. African
records come like this quite often, dusty and dirty, it has
been cleaned as good as possible but still.. The music
however is the winning factor here, even with some
noise, I still love to listen to it. I think it is justly
the Black Chinese has so many fans,
this is Ghanaian highlife like we
love it best..enjoy.tracks;
1 Obiara te se onoa
2 Kwae anoma
3 Eyea mane me
4 Meko odo fie

From 1986 we’ve got us this fine piece of highlife.
It just so happened I found this lp some two weeks
ago, coincidence that Paa Bobo died last week,
I received the news via two visitors. Thank you
Frank and Kwabena for keeping me informed.
How nice that we can still listen to him whenever
we want to, check this album and remember
Paa Bobo, Happy New Year y’all..tracks;

- Tuesday December 10, 201312 comments on Canadoes Super Stars of Ghana
led by Big Boy Dansoh
Fine Woman, Rogers All Stars 1981Today’s contribution starts out a bit crackly but the noise
doesn’t bother much. Canadoes appear on RAS
from Nigeria, it is one of those Ghanaian highlife groups
that went there to get their stuff to sound different.
Two things, always nice to have a little puzzling to do,
label says it’s from 1981 and backsleeve says from 1982.
And then, front cover states it should be LIVE, but
it absolutely does not give me that impression,
what do you think ..?tracks;
1 Enowaa ko hene
– Ayikoo dum
– Konsuo nanaa
2 Fine woman
3 Me nyame braPosted by Moosat 2:21 PMCategories

This coming weekend we’ll have the next mega record & cd fair in
Utrecht again. This two times a year event is one I’m always looking
forward to, it brings recorddealers from all over Europe and beyond.
The fall edition like this one is mostly the better fair so I’m quite
confident in finding us some treasures. I’ll prepare myself by making
a wishlist and go hunting. Keep your fingers crossed for me to find
some of the missing links and we’ll get lucky. Today’s contribution
concerns a record by one of the most popular artists at this blog.
The Oriental Brothers Band with Dr. Sir Warrior always find
a happy listening ear somewhere and I’m sure this one
also will. The rhythms are just spectacular, I love’m.
So,.. get it, spread it & enjoy..tracks;
1 Warrior abiala ozor
2 Onye di nma na azu
3 Nke onye diri yaPosted by Moosat 6:23 PMCategories

When I first saw this album it gave me the impression it
would be Fuji or Apala, you know, this Alhaji Sir thing.
It seemed I was wrong, the lp brings highlife and even a
reggaesong. Not really a fan of african reggae but some-
how this one doesn’t disturb. The highlife feel is dominant
and the music more melodic than expected, ..nice..tracks;
1 Ivienagbo oyoyo three
2 Omo nonyanya krees imodibie
3 Amiemawamiegue : hakuri
4 Oghena kemhitse – oyoyo reggaePosted by Moosat 6:11 PMCategories
