Its sleeve has partly dissolved (left edge), the actual vinyl however
is in reasonable condition. Listening to this 1981 slice of
Sir Waziri Oshomah’s highlife is a pleasure.

This record from 1977 opens with a song that has more or less
the same title as yesterday’s opener. “Did you know that ‘Isah
Sule’, popularly and musically known as Sir Waziri Oshomah,
was born on the 12th february, 1948 in Osomegbe, Ekperi,
Auchi, Bendel State. He obtained his primary education at
Osomegbe primary school, after which he attended St. Andrew’s
secondary school, Fugar. He worked in both government and
private sectors before he resigned to form his traditional highlife
band in 1973 and this has given him the opportunity of preaching
to his people through his recordings…” (liner notes)01 – Hon. lawrence idonigie,

Back at the Global Groove today is the great Sir Waziri Oshomah
& his Family Traditional Sound Makers. Waziri was one of the ori-
ginators of afenmai Etsakor highlife. He made a list of records of
which it is high time to bring some more. The sound quality could
be a whole lot better, but it is hard to find these albums in good
condition. This elpee is listed number five on Discogs, not
sure if it really is his fifth. From 1976 on Decca, enjoy ..Vandaag terug op de Global Groove is Sir Waziri Oshomah & his
Family Traditional Sound Makers.

This week I was blown away, listening to this wonderful record again
with Moses Adeolu Akinsanya. I first heard it when I downloaded it
at Afro Soul Descarga in 2012. I took the liberty to freshen up the
files by tagging all the songs and add the correct titles and such.
Posting it now is a tribute to Afrosouldescarga. Go there to
find more great records. Meantime listen to Baba Eto ..01 – Iyawo eko

When General Prince Adekunle was still Prince Adekunle,
he operated with his Western State Brothers. This must be
their first release from 1970. With his cool but driving,
sophisticated style, Prince Adekunle is one of

Second elpee by S.M. Lawani and his Unity Dance Band of
Warrake is this one. Also on Ijebor Records from 1976.
The album has plenty of background noise but is still
quite enjoyable. Not suitable for
audiophile listeners ..Dit is de tweede plaat van S.M. Lawani and his Unity Dance
Band of Warrake. Ook op Ijebor Records en uit 1976.
Het album heeft aardig wat achtergrond geluiden,
maar is toch tamelijk fijn te beluisteren. Niet
geschikt voor audiofiele luisteraars ..Discogs

You know what they say, variety is the spice of life. Some
people just like one kind of sweets, I like to have a taste
of many types. Here on the GG we go from benga to son
and from mbaqanga to vallenato and samba. Today we
find some firm Nigerian highlife again. Now Edwin, don’t
start begging for Ghanaian, what you see is what you get.
We had four of their albums so far, today another one.
On Tabansi Records from don’t know what year ..Het is een bekende uitspraak, verandering van spijs
doet eten.
We zagen
ze reeds vier maal, vandaag de vijfde op Tabansi
en uit ik weet niet welk jaar ..Discogs
