- Wednesday September 24, 20080 comments on Kitch – Spirit of Carnival, Charlie’s Records 1978
From Trinidad comes this Soca album. The word ‘soca’ stands for
‘Soul Calypso’. Kitch is the man who was there, developing it.
The overall spirit on this album is good, it gives us some
tracks that still contain a lot of the old Calypso feeling.
It has one track however, he could have left away for my part.
Track no. 8 does not really belong here.
Aldwin Roberts is his real name, listen to ‘Kitch’!tracks;
1 Soca Millicent
2 The spirit
3 Dog bite you
4 Symphony in G
5 Take de phone out me house
6 Suzie
7 Pan ’round the neck
8 Disco love
9 Town bunnin down
10 The carnival is overPosted by Moosat 10:33 PM - Thursday July 24, 2008
It took me a couple of days again to get back to you Groovers,
we all need to work now and then. Here’s another Calypso collector
from somewhere down the cabinet. Again there’s no year stated here.
Ripping this one turned a big smile on my face, check out ‘the Mighty
Duke’s Woop Wap, fantastic lyrics.tracks;

2 Lord Nelson – I’ve got the itch
3 Starlift – The outcast

He used to be a Calypsonian, but when during the 70’s the sound
started to change, Lord Kitchener did not stay behind.

1 Carnival time
2 Tourist Elsie
3 Soca corruption
4 Katumba
5 Sweet pan
6 Gee me the tingPosted by Moosat 5:18 PM - Sunday June 29, 2008
PAY ATTENTION
Before you start downloading this rare Calypso Collector, please
take notice of the fact that track # 8, ‘Don’t touch me nylon’, is
unfortunately broken. It jumps a few times. I had to trick track #
10 too, it was too broken to place. This is a rare collector of old
calypsos, no year is given. An LP full of ‘naughty songs’, you don’t
need too much imagination to hear between the lines. Taken the
condition and some cracks and hiss, this is still a spin worth it’s
while, and how about that great cover ?tracks;
1 Lord Kitchener – Kitch
2 Duke of Iron – Big bamboo
3 Lord Kitchener – Muriel and the bug
4 Duke of Iron – I left her behind for you
5 Hayden – He like it, she like it
6 Duke of Iron – Parakeets

9 The Charmer – Is she is, or is she ain’t
10 Marie Bryant – Don’t touch me tomato

While I was working on this post, gathering information, I found ou
that ‘Miss Baikinange’ of ‘Schadenfreudian Therapy’ already placed
it. I guess I knew but didn’t pay attention. Check her page, linked at
the sidebar. This is a great album, worthy of a second posting !

I’d have to gamble on the year on this LP, I’d say 1969, if any one
knows.. If you listen to the hilarius song ‘Child training’ on the album,
‘All time Calypso from Trinidad and Tobago’, posted earlier this week,
you know what to expect here, Composer is a funny guy,tracks;

The late Sixties was the time Calypso flourished the most in my opinion.
This LP sounds a bit like a fireside recording ( lot’s of cracks )
but still, it’s the best calypso I’ve ever heard,
Lord Kitchener is the Master.tracks;
