From 1969, this is one of the last albums of ‘The Impressions’.
In 1970, Curtis Mayfield was to leave the Impressions and on the album’s
last track, he gives an example of what he’s about to go doing.
This is one of the first records to appear on Curtis’ label ‘Curtom’.tracks;

Today I want to introduce something new at Global Groove.

I used to play a lot, and of which I like the covers extremely much.
All 3 make me have nostalgic feelings hearing them again

Ever since I heard this album for the very first time, I loved it !
Everything about this LP is ‘art’. It’s poetic, subtle and played
fantasticly well. And how about that Cover ? A number One !tracks;

‘Otis Redding’, who died far too young, is one of my biggest idols.
With, Andrew Love and Joe Arnold on tenor saxes,
Wayne Jackson on trumpet,
Steve Cropper on guitar,
Booker T Jones and Isaac Hayes on organ & piano,
Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn on bass
and Al Jackson Jr. on drums, this is a fantastic recording.

I remember I discovered ‘Dyke & the Blazers’, back in the eighties
when I was going through my ‘Soulrevival’.
It was in a little old recordstore at the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam.
And it struck me !
Back in those days I bought me a re-release, later I found this

Dear Global Groover,
Until now we have been posting only Tropical Musicstyles at
‘Global Groove’, and ofcourse we shall continue to do so.
The blog’s title, however, indicates that we shall also start
to blend in some genres, looking from a broader perspective.
Black Music, in general, always had my first attention, and from
today I’ll post some other black styles too, like New Orleans Soul.
