de mediastilte. Crate digging in Portugal op zoek naar bijzondere
platen uit Brazilië, Angola en Kaap verdië. Vandaag weer thuis met
diverse mooie platen. Om te beginnen deze tamelijk speciale forró
elpee. Hij gaat online voor zo’n 85 tot 100 eurootjes. Ik heb deze
slechts even te leen om hem voor jou te kunnen plaatsen hier op
de GG. Helaas heeft hij wel enkele tikjes en kraakjes, luister..

Good morning groovers, We had us a small six day break because
I was crate digging in Portugal. Goal of the mission was to find some
special records from Brazil, Angola and Cabo Verde. Today we’re back
home with various nice elpees. To begin with this quite special Forró
album by Camarão. Online it goes for some 85 to 100 euro’s. I just lent
this copy to be able to post it for you. Unfortunately it has a few pops
and crackles, still it’s worth at least a couple of spins..

An extremely rare album from Uganda today, it is by Peterson
T. Mutebi with the Tames – Abawala Bimuli vol. 2. The elpee has
no sleeve and we have no information. From the label we know
that the songs are written by Peterson T. Mutebi, W. Mukasa,
Willy Mubiru, Ronie O. Musisi, Peter Kabaale Super and Ronald
Ndema Ringo. That’s as far as it goes..enjoy listening.

This is part one from a series of three albums with classic calypso
songs. It has been posted by others in the past but they are worth
being here once more. It opens with a song by the Sparrow which
I heard first on Van Dyke Parks ‘Discover America’ without knowing
what I was listening to. Meantime this is history, listen..

Hier hebben we deel 1 van een serie van drie platen vol klassieke
calypso hits. Hij is in het verleden reeds door anderen geplaatst
maar verdient het nog eens opnieuw onder de aandacht gebracht
te worden. De plaat opent met een nummer van de Sparow welk
ik voor het eerst hoorde op Van Dyke Parks’ ‘Discover America’.
Toen wist ik nog niet waar ik naar luisterde, nu gelukkig

This is the first ever record we have from Guinee Bissau. The music
has a feel, slightly connected to the music from Angola. Both are
Portuguese speaking. They are a part by great distance so probably
I am talking nonsense but that’s my first feeling. One way or the other,
it sounds quite interesting. It seems this album used to be very expensive
but the recent discovery of stock made it affordable now. Listen..

Hier hebben we de eerste plaat die we zien uit Guinee Bissau. De muziek
doet rakelings denken aan die uit Angola. Misschien omdat beide landen
Portugees talig zijn, misschien raaskal ik nu maar zo voelt het. Hoe dan
ook, het klinkt zeer interessant en spannend op de één of andere manier.
Het schijnt dat deze plaat een tijd lang heel duur was maar door de recente
ontdekking van een partijtje verstopte exemplaren is hij nu redelijker
geprijsd. Luister naar N’Kassa Cobra..

Deze ten inch met Lord Kitchener stamt uit 1957. Helaas is de
voorkant van de hoes na 61 jaar gesneuveld en heb ik hem van
het web af moeten halen. Daarom is de resolutie niet wat u hier
gewend bent te vinden. Achterkantje was nog wel in tact. Acht
nummers waarvan we de meeste nog niet eerder hadden.
Altijd weer luisteren met een smile naar de King of Calypso..

This ten inch record with Lord Kitchener and his Calypso All Stars
is from 1957. Unfortunately its frontsleeve was damaged after 61
years so I had to take it from the web. That’s why the image’s
resolution is not what you’re used to find here. The backsleeve
is still good though. Eight songs of which we didn’t see the most
yet. Always a pleasure listening to the King of Calypso..

met pop enzo en noemden het Jit. Aanstekelijke sound uit Zimbabwe.
Zeer frisse plaat uit 1987 die je vast wel even zal vermaken, enjoy..

Listen to the Bhundu Boys for a change today, they mixed chimurenga
with pop and such and called it Jit. Contageous Zimbabwean sound.
Very fresh and clean album which will certainly please you for a while..

This past week we had some samba called ‘O Melhor em Samba’
by Os Bambas, Matata asked me if I could post the rest of the
series of which we had three. Unfortunately there are no others
available. From the same period however we do have this one.
A collector on the same Okeh label with some wonderful artists.
Samba in its purest form and also under the guidence of Zuzuca.
This album is from 1974 and in perfect condition ..

De afgelopen week hadden we een samba plaat met de titel
‘O Melhor em Samba’ van Os Bambas, volume 10. Matata vroeg
me toen de rest van de serie waarvan we er reeds drie hadden te
posten. Helaas zijn er geen andere delen beschikbaar, we hebben
daarentegen wel deze elpee. Uit de zelfde periode, op het zelfde
label en onder de zelfde leiding, namelijk die van Zuzuca. Hij is uit
1974 en bevat de meest pure samba, verkeert ook nog eens in
perfecte staat, een juweeltje voor de liefhebbers..
