Vandaag verwen ik je met nog zo’n beauty van Combo Los
Galleros met de geweldige Lucy Gonzalez. Wat een krachtig
stemgeluid had die meid. Niet alleen Lucy maar de hele band
komt hier goed voor de dag. Ook met de groten Julio de la
Ossa en Lucho Argain is dit een plaat om niet te missen..

had. Not only Lucy but the whole group excels here. Also with

Het is een hele fijne verzameling songs uit Zaïre uit 1978. De
omschrijving van de nummers en bijbehorende artiesten is
een beetje vaag. Vooral bij het laatste nummer is het niet zo
duidelijk wie de uitvoerende artiesten zijn. Eén ding is zeker,
stuk voor stuk zijn het heerlijke nummers met dito vokalen,
gitaren en hoorns. Dit soort cavacha behoort
tot mijn favorieten..
Tot dusver hadden we volumes 1,3 en 5.
( vol.1 is African Fiesta, hoort er misschien niet bij )
Volgens Shazam is track 8 Orchestre Cavacha.

This is a very fine collection of songs from Zaïre from 1978.
the description of tracks however is a little vague. Especially
with the final track it is not exactly clear who are the artists
playing it. One thing is clear, all songs are delightful with
likewise vocals, guitars and horns. This is the
type of cavacha we like best..
So far we had volumes 1,3 and 5.
( Vol.1 is African fiesta, maybe not part of the series )
According to Shazam track 8 is orchestre Cavacha.

It is not exactly clear from what year this record is, it feels
like around 1985. On the lesser known label Kina-Rama.
His name is spelled differently every time, first as Bittsu,
then as Bishou, and now as Bitshou. One way or the other,
his music is hot. Celi Bitshou was one of Franco’s singer-
songwriters once. This is the third album we have with him
and it sounds wonderful, listen to it yourself..

Het is heel lang niet zo warm geweest in Nederland als de afgelopen tijd.
Het is gortdroog en voorlopig wordt er geen regen verwacht. Tropische
taferelen die doen denken aan landen als Nigeria bijvoorbeeld. Het gras
is bij ons al net zo geel als op de hoes van deze plaat. Franco Lee Ezute
en zijn Harmony Kings brengen hier een perfecte sound om een regen-
dans op te doen. Ik heb het al geprobeerd maar alleen lukt me dat niet.
Als iedereen meedoet kunnen we er misschien wat druppels uitpersen..

It hasn’t been hot like lately in the Netherlands for a long long time.
The country suffers from severe drought and no rain is to be expected
for some time. Tropical conditions that make us think of lands as Nigeria
for instance. The grass here is as yellow as on the cover of this record.
Franco Lee Ezute and his Harmony Kings bring a sound very suitable for
a solid raindance. I have tried but will never succeed on my own. If
everybody helps we might be able to squeeze out a few drops..

In februari 2016 hadden we al eens een van zijn platen’. Djalma
Pires’ samba is tamelijk onbekend maar van ongekende klasse.
Als een album dan ook nog eens uit 1973 komt heeft het mijn
onverdeelde aandacht. Top tijd. Volledig terecht blijkt eens
temeer, dit is een zeer lekkere schijf van een zeer boeiend
artiest. Als je een samba liefhebber bent, niet missen..

We already had us one of his records in bebruary 2016. Djalma
Pires’ samba is quite unknown but class material to my opinion.
If an album was made in 1973 it always gets my undivided attention.
Great period. Quite rightly it turns out once again, this is a very nice
disc by a very fascinating artist. if you like samba, do not miss..

Normally I don’t post a lot of popmusic. September the 6th, Pink
Floyd’s drummer Nick mason is coming to Amsterdam with his
supergroup and they are going to play a number of songs featured
on this old collector. Since I’ve bought tickets, I couldn’t resist ripping
this album to be able playing it digitally. Of course you can join me
doing so, enjoy this piece of nostalgic popmusic with me.
Songs from 1967, 1968 and 1969..

Normaal gesproken plaats ik nauwelijk pop muziek hier. Deze uitzondering
moest echter gemaakt worden. Pink Floyd’s drummer Nick Mason komt op
6 september a.s. naar Amsterdam en zal dan een aantal van de nummers
komen spelen die op ‘Relics’ staan. Ik kon de verleiding niet weerstaan deze
te digitaliseren om hem onderweg te kunnen beluisteren. Vanzelf laat ik jou
hier ook van meegenieten. Nummers uit 1967, 1968 en 1969..

It is hard to find information about Orchestre Malekesa du Zaïre.
One of those Congolese bands operating from Kenya, led by Frantal
Tabu. One way or the other, this is a very enjoyable record.
( track #2 got stuck right at the beginning so I fade started it
just behind it, we miss the first minute and
another bad moment at 5.40..shame..)

Het is tamelijk lastig enige informatie te vinden over Orchestre
Malekesa du Zaïre. Het is een van die Congolese bands die van uit
Kenya opereerde in de jaren zeventig. Hoe dan ook, dit is een
aangenaam plaatje, luister zelf..
( nummer twee bleef direct aan het begin al hangen dus ik heb
een fade start gemaakt voorbij dit punt. We missen een
minuutje, en een slecht moment rond 5.40..jammer..)

We hebben nu vier plaatjes van Sir Waziri Oshomah gezien en
er wacht nog een tiental om gepost te worden. Afenmai is een
vorm van Nigeriaanse highlife die door Sir Waziri is gïnitialiseerd.
De exacte kenmerken kan ik je niet vertellen maar dat het smaakt
is een feit. Smul vandaag eens van deze kraker. Voor meer informatie
over Waziri Oshomah verwijs ik graag naar deze pagina.

We had us four of the records of Sir Waziri Oshomah so far and another
ten are waiting to be posted. Afenmai is a form of Nigerian highlife which
Sir Waziri initiated. I can’t tell you the exact characteristics but it tasts
wonderful, that’s a fact. Enjoy this cracker today and if you want more

Wederom is hier een elpee van een band waar we nog nooit
eerder van hebben gehoord. Zowel op het web als in de Rough
Guide is er niets over te vinden. Nummers geschreven door
Lamyne Deba en Mengue. Op Edition Flambeau is dit de enige
plaat die verschijnt bij Google. Hij heeft een paar tikjes
maar verder klinkt hij redelijk. Uit 1985,
luister en kijk wat je er van vind..

Once more this is an album by a group never heard of before.
Neither the web nor Rough Guide gives us any information on the
subject. Songs written by Lamyne Deba and mengue. On Edition
Flambeau, this is the only record that appears on Google. Sound
condition is fair, few small ticks though. From 1985,
listen and make up your own mind..
