- Friday November 7, 20088 comments on The Very Best of Mayaula Mayoni, “Don Padrino” – Fiona-Fiona, ALIA Music 1987
Before I found this album by Mayaula Mayoni, I had never heard of
him. When searching on the internet I can’t seem to find much
more then a discography. I also found out he used to sing with
Franco at a certain point. Youtube has a few films. What I do know
is that I liked this LP from the first time I heard it.
Sung with ‘Malage de Lugendo’ this is great Congolese music.tracks;
1 Fiona – Fiona
2 l’Infimière

It’s been a while since we had an album by one of Africa’s
finest female singers, M’Bilia Bel. Although it’s got a few
scratches, it’s still worth a spin. Like on most occasions
M’Bilia is accompanied by Seigneur Tabu Ley Rochereau and
l’Orchestre Afrisa International. What a woman, what a voice.tracks;
1 Faux pas
2 Bafosami
3 Nazali mwasi
4 Motema ekoponaPosted by Moosat 10:21 PM - Wednesday November 5, 2008
On Laslos Records here’s an album by Miguel Quintana, we
have seen him doing background vocals on multiple occasion,
now this is one of his own records. The line-up on this LP is
almost the same as on Melcochita’s album I posted last week.
Melcochita is doing the Chorus here with José Mangual Jr..
This is Miguel Quintana, great voice, great music, listen.tracks;
1 Harina y quimbombó
2 El plato roto
3 El bejuco
4 El paraiso
5 La casita de Margot
6 Me siento guajiro

If I say ‘Bopol’, ‘Féfé Diambouana’, ‘Master Mwana Congo’,
Eddy’Son and Théo Blaise, what can go wrong ?
With this early 80’s album it’s a sure score, my favourite
track ? # 4, ‘Chérie Sylla’ !tracks;
1 Célia
2 Louzingou
3 Bintou
4 Chérie SyllaPosted by Moosat 11:03 PM - Sunday November 2, 2008
Another Rochereau, this one is from 1973 and that shows.
It seems Tabu Ley is the inventor of the Afro-hairdo, no serieus
he was kind of hip those days, that shirt too. He even recorded
his version of ‘Let it be’ ( Beatles ), not for me that is.
Although it’s quite different from the original and sung in his
own language, I prefer Rochereau’s own songs.
Part from that this is a great album, check it out yourself.tracks;
1 Afrisa l’International
2 Leki ya mongali… tosuki wapi ?
3 Tete nakozonga
4 Marie-Lou

Rochereau in his young years, what a nice photo is this.
And what a fresh young voice on this LP, can any one tell us
of what year it is ? It’s got 10 songs and takes only 30 minutes,
not a vey common thing. By the way, I made a mistake when I ripped
‘Afrisa International’, some time ago, I switched A and B sides.
Yesterday I re-ripped it and put a new link on that post.
If you have downloaded it, better do it again and delete the
old file. Now listen to Rochereau Tabu Ley’s ‘Belle Epoque’.tracks;

Son is music from Cuba, but Melcochita takes us to a Colombian
village to preach it. With, Alfredito Valdéz jr., Mario
“papaíto” Muñoz, Mario Hernández, José Mangual and others.
Very sweet and sometimes funny Son.There’s something going on at the photoscene it appears.
If you take a close look, at first I didn’t notice, you don’t
see the guy without shirt’s left hand.
It looks like he is snatching Melcochita’s wallet.
His friend on the left is looking at it too. In the back,
under the tree, that guy’s eyes look guilty as hell, he
tries to keep his pokerface but he knows what’s going on,
same with the white hat, right side, his looks give him
away too. Now check photo number two, taken two seconds later.
He now shows the wallet behind Melcochita’s back to the white
hat. But this one signals with his right hand to keep it down.
The other guys now also see what’s going on.
Back at the hotel Melcochita finds out his wallet’s gone and
says to the photographer, “strange, some one took my wallet,
it couldn’t have been one of those friendly guys down town,
could it ?”tracks;
